St. Nicholas - the real one, not the commercialized Hallmark character…

Which saint’s life would make for the best modern-day action movie?

I can’t help to think / vote for St. Nicolas Owen.

Any other thoughts?
In my opinion, it should be St. Athanasius, hands down. Heck, his life could be a five-part epic movie series. His unusual baptism, his escapes from government operatives, his unscheduled visitations to the emperor, his defense at trial, the way he brought the man with him who he had been accused of killing, and showed him alive to all his accusers, all the things he did could be effectively video’d.

I will like to see a movie about St. Elizabeth of Russia from the Eastern Church and St. Maria Faustina from the Catholic Church. St. Elizabeth was a German princess who married into the Russian court. Being a Lutheran she decided to enter fully into the Orthodox Church after she married her husband who belonged to the Russian court. Her sister married the Tsar of Russia. Elizabeth was a grand daughter of Queen Victoria. Her husband was assassinated by the Bolsheviks and inquiring about the changes that were resulting in Russia she remained at the rest of her life as a nun, building convents and hospitals throughout Russia. She was eventually martyred by the Bolsheviks and her body found to be incorrupt many months later. St. Maria Faustina struggle with to write her Diary is astonishing as Jesus had revealed many messages to help the Church to remain faithful. In this struggle of hers we see the devil many times trying to interrupt her calling as he seems to be bent on trying to destroy this Diary which he said is destroying him.

I would like to see a historical film on St Maximilian Kolbe. Even finish it up with an epilogue about the man whose place he took in Auschwitz, who survived.

I could see an epic action movie being made about St. Moses the Black, gang leader turned saint. Even his name is pretty darn epic. 😉

I love this story I read about him from EWTN:

Moses had a rather difficult time adjusting to regular monastic discipline. His flair for adventure remained with him. Attacked by a group of robbers in his desert cell, Moses fought back, overpowered the intruders, and dragged them to the chapel where the other monks were at prayer. He told the brothers that he didn’t think it Christian to hurt the robbers and asked what he should do with them. The overwhelmed robbers repented, were converted, and themselves joined the community.

This makes me laugh every time. I can just picture the monks absorbed in prayer in that dimly lit chapel, the peaceful melody of their chants filling the air, when suddenly the door bursts open and in strides Moses, dragging a group of thieves by their collars. 😃

I mean, he was outnumbered, the robbers had the drop on him, and he still took them all down…with his bare hands! How could they not make a movie about this guy?

The conversion of St. Peregrine has always captured my imagination, too. Ruffian-turned-saint stories always give me a warm fuzzy.
