By taking the side of non-voters over voters, the Democrats have once again veered into “basket of deplorables” territory.

Hillary calling Trump supporters deplorables was turn turning point for her campaign.

I’m not sure why America is great now but wasn’t 3 years ago. Wasn’t Michelle Obama criticized for claiming it wasn’t? Doesn’t that mean it was?

America has always been great, even exceptional. We have flaws, to be sure , but it seems our greatness expands when we limit government.

Since I never vote, or never vote for anyone electable, I don’t really care, but the only thing that makes sense is KEEP AMERICA GREAT. Otherwise it would appear that the first round of Make America Great Again was a failure.

We need to do more than limit it. We need to totally eliminate about 80 percent of it.
It’s called article 1, section 8.

My guess is that most people, including congress people, have no clue what you’re talking about :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I will try to answer this in my personal view. As I heard someone say, the president speaks my language. What language? Not his rhetoric, I do not even let my children watch him on TV. But when he says Make America Great Again, I did not hear America is not great. Here is what I heard, with some examples of what I saw first.

I often saw things in Facebook
China was battling traffic with a second level transport that went above all vehicles. I said, pretty cool.

United Emirates I think it was, was beginning to use large drones as ambulances. That is awesome

Somewhere in Sweden or one of them countries, had beautiful bridges that let deer and wild animals cross the highway and not be injured.

Those are only but a few examples of what I saw over and over on Facebook for years. Very nice and productive practicalities that made sense.

What I did not see. America innovation. I was also seeing how middle America was being left to rot.

When I heard Make America Great Again. I heard, we need innovation, we need to lead by example, we need to bring back jobs to middle America.

I am not sure what I said made sense to you all, but that is how I took to and how I still see it.

I could not see pass the “I’m with Her” It did not resonate with me.

That is the marketing ploy.
The conservative pundits fed the line that everything was terrible under Obama.
Now they feed the line that everything is great under Trump. And notwithstanding the data and the facts, while most know better, true believers believe.

Technically, her full quote was–
What we’ve learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something — for the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it’s made me proud.
So even though there was the caveat to follow up afterwards, the initial sound byte by itself was very unflattering.

You know the truth.
Hillary called 15,000,000 Americans deplorable. She fell in the polls afterward. It wash probably the watershed moment of her campaign.

You know the truth. Why not just say it?
So do you, yet you still nit pick and twist some statements then take other things hyper-literally all depending on how it will best fit your narrative.

None of this really matters. We are way past that. The fact is, Trump handed Clinton her lunch and we need to accept it and move on.

What are you talking about?
What are you choosing to characterize as nit picking? Asking people that people speak the truth? Not a nit IMO.
