Isn’t the Christmas tree actually of pagan origin? If so, maybe to stay true to its roots we should call it a “Solstice Tree.”

Actually I’m not trying to be sarcastic here. Some other threads have just got me thinking past this “This is My Holiday, and we are all going to call it Christmas,” type of thinking.

If the tree is not of pagan origin, please disregard this post. :o

From what I understand, it was first called a “winter solstice” tree. IF true, I find it ironic that those who involve themsleves in inimportant matters cant see hijacking the term “Christmas tree” is no different then those who hijacked the term “Holiday Tree”

If the white house actually cared about the meaning of Christ…Christmas, etc, we wouldnt be doing the abominable things we are doing around the world…ie, war, torture, or at home, ie, allowing handicapped people to be publicly starved to death. Yay, America, its a “Christmas” Tree…

Actually, a great saint, Boniface, began the custom of using the fir tree as a sign of Christmas. Here’s the story. Although there are longer versions of it, this will do for our purposes. Enjoy!
