Do you recall what interview this was?I saw an interview with Obama on one the news programs. He actually said that the forefathers through the constitution, created “obstacles” that have made it very difficult for him(Obama)to accomplish everything he wants to do in order to change this country according to his vision. He also stated that he is very persistent, which is why he need another four years to get things done.(this is more or less the gist of the interview, not verbatim)![]()
What could there possibly be left to negotiate?Despite rumors of a compromise on the government’s controversial contraception mandate, the White House has not offered any concessions to the U.S. bishops’ conference and has not contacted them about possible negotiations.
…
. It was the interview broadcast on NBC before the superbowl.Do you recall what interview this was?
All these promises of “working it out” are meaningless if not backed up by action, which there is no indication that any action supports the claim. It’s all just their way of keeping critics at bay until most people forget about the issue and move on to something else. I hope our attention spans hold up to this one. Our bishops seem poised to keep this issue at the forefront.
It is so sad. But we should change that, starting from ourselves. There is a saying, " a spark of fire can burn the entire planet". It takes great effort on each of us, but it is never too late. There is still a remnant.Folks,
As I have now placed these thoughts in my signature:
Pliticians will not pay any real attention to Catholics, since the majority of Catholics have for decades ignored their own faith.
In general, Catholics are not serious people of faith, and politicians know that.
The country will follow a path that the Catholic Church, and lay Catholics, define and live. Catholics have let down themselves and this nation, and therefore the world at large.
We are to blame–not the politicians.
Yes, God always leaves a remnant, but that does not mean the remnant will have an easy time.It is so sad. But we should change that, starting from ourselves. There is a saying, " a spark of fire can burn the entire planet". It takes great effort on each of us, but it is never too late. There is still a remnant.
It won’t matter. Catholics are not going to stop contracepting, which means most will not see these things as a problem. In fact, they will it is good because they will get their contraception free.Do you recall what interview this was?

That sounds rather like “they came for the Jews, but I’m not a Jew, so I didn’t care.”It won’t matter. Catholics are not going to stop contracepting, which means most will not see these things as a problem. In fact, they will it is good because they will get their contraception free.
Why, yes it does. That sounds rather like “they came for the Jews, but I’m not a Jew, so I didn’t care.”
I didn’t see the interview. From that description, it sounds like he views the Constitution as just another obstacle to be overcome.I saw an interview with Obama on one the news programs. This is all too sadly very true. And might I add, they will NOT hear from the pulpit that contracepting is against Church doctrine. A heartbreaking situation all and all.It won’t matter. Catholics are not going to stop contracepting, which means most will not see these things as a problem. In fact, they will it is good because they will get their contraception free.
What the Obama administration has done by demanding that Catholic non-profits provide coverage for abortion-inducing drugs is to put the camel’s nose in the tent—the slippery slope has been stepped on mandating that Catholic hospitals perform abortions.
Then will come the mandate for the Church to perform SS"M".Catholic League President Bill Donohue

And to this I might add there have already been smatterings in the news about how “out of date” the Constitution is and how we need to overhaul it.I didn’t see the interview. From that description, it sounds like he views the Constitution as just another obstacle to be overcome.
The constitution is being overhauled every time it hands down an opinion. The majority needed to change something is a mere 5 votes on the court. Not exactly what was intended by the constitution. And to this I might add there have already been smatterings in the news about how “out of date” the Constitution is and how we need to overhaul it.But I do think there needs to be a large majority to change anything…can’t recall the number.
OK…here is an article I found today from Pew Sitter, part of it taken from the NYT on how old and terse the Constitution is.I didn’t see the interview. From that description, it sounds like he views the Constitution as just another obstacle to be overcome.
