"white-washed" yoga, yay or nay?

Yoga poses are often mixed into other parts of exercise and stretching. Why don’t we all just sit on the couch all day then?
"Now the television watching position . . . hold it for two hours . . . "

🤣

I mean lying on your back is a yoga position, doing back stretches is a yoga position, there are like thousands of positions that people do for relaxation and exercise apart from yoga that is synonymous. prana isnt a real thing, just like “positive vibes” arent a real thing, they are all just words.
“Let’s look at this from a purely logical point of view. First of all, anyone who truly understands yoga (such as a Hindu) will tell you that yoga positions were never designed to be exercises. They were designed to do one of two things – worship one of more than three million Hindu gods and/or facilitate the flow of prana (life force energy) through the body.”

Regardless of one’s intentions, putting yourself into pagan praying positions invites evil that most of us are unequipped to handle

Funny enough most of the Hindu people I know, and I have known a lot, dont really even do yoga. They might go to their temples and do their chants at home and all, but it seems there’s more yoga in yoga studios than yoga in Hindu homes

AND I JUST GOTTA THROW THIS OUT THERE, for people who use “positions” as a bad thing because it relates to a religion, I’m pretty sure there’s a vast majority of people in America getting on their knees doing other things, more often that they get on their knees to pray.

Absolutely. It is a dangerous practice and invites a demonic presence.

Parathentically, static stretching as practiced in yoga has long been discarded as harmful by those trained in kinesiology, in exercise science. Even elementary school PE teachers are avoiding static stretching as a “warm up.” And the bizarre practice of some yoga teachers–heating the room to sauna-like temperatures–incurs additional dangers.

Physically, yoga is a substandard and potentially harmful form of exercise. Spiritually, it is downright hazardous and no Catholic should participate in it.

This kind of contradicts the whole “pose” theory honestly

Start showing me examples of people that got possessed from sticking their arms and legs in the wrong angle hahaha

Yoga seems to be pretty overrated. Plus some of these comments are borderline mean.

The idea that a physical pose has some kind of inherent power is, well, dumb. Worship requires intent. If an atheist kneels down because they dropped their keys, then look up and realize they’re kneeling before a cross, they haven’t converted to Christianity.

Yoga has ties to Easterd deities. And are therefore has ties to the demonic, PLEASE STAY WELL AWAY FROM IT!

here is a short video by a priest on it,
here is a longer more in depth one:

Why is this so difficult for people to understand?
Some people don’t feel alive unless they’re cultivating this crazy siege mentality where everything is evil and coming to get them. See also: people who absolutely lose their minds over Harry Potter.

The Indian Government issued a statment to the Western world stating:
‘Yoga is NOT a form of exercise, it is their RELIGION.’

‘Yoga is a 5,000 year old religion that worships a snake godess named Kundalini. All the poses and mantras are designed to invite the snake godess Kundalini to unite with the person.’

One cannot worship another deity unknowingly?
What of aetheists who use the ouijii board for ‘fun’ and end up needing deliverance or exorcism from a catholic exorcist? Grave matter is always grave matter. For example: an affair is always an affair. It is always grave matter.

Again, we need to realize that once we start moving in the womb, it can be a yoga pose, since any position or movement the human does is used in yoga. Let that sink in and then quit worrying about all this nonsense regarding body positions and exercise. Once and for all.

The stories you’re hearing from these exorcists are about people who started praying to Hindu deities and channeling new age entities…not Billy Joe Jim Bob that did some yoga stretches down at the YMCA on exercise night.

If your intent is to stretch, you are NOT going to become possessed by some Hindu deity. Otherwise, everyone who slept flat on their back last night would be worshiping some foreign god. You yourself would be opening yourself to possession and demons simply by sitting in a chair and posting on this forum. Unless you decide to start calling out to channel some entities, emptying your mind, centering yourself in the midst of the universe, and chanting ohmmmm, you’re not going to put yourself in any danger by doing yoga-style stretches.

Why is this so difficult for people to understand?
Amen brotha…or sista

A 1989 letter from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) of the Roman Catholic Church, titled: Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on Some Aspects of Christian Meditation.

The letter warns of “dangers and errors” in fusing Christian and non-Christian meditative methods. It was written by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, later to be known as Pope Benedict XVI, and approved for publication by then-Pope John Paul II.

The letter judges eastern body practices as not just incompatible with Catholic doctrine, but dangerous.

The letter asks that Christians who have acknowledged the meditative role of body practices avoid the “exaggerations and partiality” of eastern methods.

Postures and breathing, according to the letter, can become an “idol and thus an obstacle” to experiencing God. It also warns that such body practices “can degenerate into a cult of the body” with severe consequences, including “mental schizophrenia,” “psychic disturbance,” or “moral deviations.”

“Indian government”? Excuse me? As someone who is half Indian I find your reasoning rather offensive and ignorant of the fact that India has thousands of religions, Hinduism is the most popular but people learn to live with a respect each other as long as you don’t infringe on someone else’s right to pray. NO CATHOLIC in India will tell you that yoga is demonic. My own grandmother was very Catholic and did yoga to stay healthy in her late life. And FYI the main Hindu diety is the sun god not a snake God. If you’re going to make assertions then please provide concrete examples as opposed to flawed reasoning otherwise your arguments are simply hearsay

Labeling eastern practices or lifestyles as demonic when a person has no experience with any such evidence seems rather xenophobic to me
