It says the early Christian writers assert Matthew was written in Hebrew, but it also says *this Hebrew Gospel has entirely disappeared."

How then, are you going to read it?

Are you familar with first-century Hebrew, even if you could find one?

My own ancestors were not Jewish. I am not offended by the passage.

Why are you trying to borrow trouble?

Muslims mention this all the time like it’s such a revelation. It’s understood now that anti-semitic means “anti-Jew”. If you don’t understand that by now there’s no point going on.

You misunderstand the passage.

Jesus first asserts the primacy of His ministry to the Apostles.
24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Do you understand what that implies? The Jews were the Choosen People, choosen to receive the the Good News and the first People to receive the invitation to the feast as mentioned in many parables.

She begs for help once again:
26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”

Jesus is the Bread of Life, and the children are the Jews, and so the childrens bread is His Word, His ministry; which, as stated above was intended to be preached to the Children of Israel first. You should also realize when taking the full context of His ministry, it was never intended to have the Good News restricted forever to the Jews only, but only while Chrsit was with us.

She understood what He said, even if you do not:
27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

The little dogs are clearly understood by her and the Apostles as any non-Jew, but what she pleaded for and was granted was the same grace and compassion shown by the master (God) of the house (Earth) to the legitimate children at the table (Israel). The litle dogs comment only suggests that all people are within the masters house, not excluded or outside of it.

This is not a case of racism, it is a event to describe the established historical relationship between God and the Jews, and the rest of the world. Therefor it is true when Christ said “Salvation comes from the Jews” for He is salvation and He was a Jew.

Christ knew that after His death, the Word was to be spread to the entire world; not limited only to the Jews, and that it would be a difficult and dangerous task.

If you read the Gospels and see what the direction and conditions given by Jesus of the first commision to the Apostles, and then compare that to the second commision, the OP should make more sense.

And just for your information, unlike Muslims, who keep their (:rolleyes: so-called) “sacred book” a deep dark secret from the whole world, including their only people, Christians have been translating the 👍 really sacred book, the:thumbsup: Bible into other languages right from the start, & continue to do so…

And both dogs and cats are so well behaved! Many humans could take lessons from them!

Come to think of it, being called a dog or a puppy might be high praise. After all, dogs are completely loyal, they love unconditionally and they are always happy to see you! You can’t say that about every human you know!

Unfortunately in ancient Israel, all non-Jews were called “dogs” and “swine”. A sad fact, but a fact nonetheless. Jesus merely used the vernacular of the day. Was he trying to be insulting? Who can say?
