The enemies of God are those who disobey Jesus preferring instead their Worldly interpretations.

We get a fair question and the questioner gets bombarded with pious, sarcastic, or agenda-laden answers which don’t really answer the question (seriously, sinners and nuclear weapons?)

Merely being a sinner does not make one an enemy of the Church. That would cover all of us, but obviously, not all of us hold any real enmity towards the Church; we are merely struggling to overcome our sins with the Church’s and God’s help.

Enemies of the Church are those who harbour hatred towards her and seek her destruction or downfall, either explicitly or through attrition. This classification includes hostile secular states, certain organizations, certain heretics and schismatics, certain Islamists. There are authors who write against the Church and politicians who persecute her. These are all who are considered enemies of the Church. Not the sinners who are within her, although enemies can be found amongst those too.

And before we all go lovey-dovey over our sweet denial that the Church has no enemies, here’s the Collect for the Mass for the Defense of the Church:

Almighty everlasting God, in whose hand are the power and the government of every nation; look to the help of the Christian people, that the heathen nations, who trust in their own fierceness, may be crushed by the power of Thy right arm.

Crushed! Imagine that!

One of the effective strategies of the Church’s enemies is to fool us into thinking that the Church has no enemies. This prayer ought to remind us that things aren’t as different today as they were then. If anything, our enemies have become more insidious over time, especially now that Catholics don’t even recognize them anymore.

And I will even name some I feel fit the qualification (IMNSHO only): Voltaire, Muhammad, the Ottoman Empire, the first French Republic, Garibaldi, Hitler, the Soviet Union, the People’s Republic of China, Saudi Arabia, Call to Action, Catholics for a Free Choice, National Catholic Reporter, Thomas Paine, Voice of the Faithful, Catholic Women Priests, and others.

Yes, generally, the world as a whole opposes the Church, but there is also a narrower list of enemies that are identifiable and may need to specifically targeted for combat, even if that combat is through a Votive Mass for the Defense of the Church.

Pretty much.

However, we cannot also forget a time not too long ago where God crushed the enemies of his Church through a little incident known as the Battle of Lepanto.

This isn’t up for argument Deacon, it is a matter of where you want to serve.

You stay back, I will serve on the front lines.

Ahhh so you believe the enemies are trying to spread their beliefs to all people including Carholics?
Hillary demands that religious beliefs be changed: “And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed."

Perhaps they are those who support the deployment of nuclear weapons and distract attention from that greatest of all evils by promoting their obsession with human reproduction issues.
I agree that nuclear weapons are a threat and should be abolished worldwide. Also, I think that the use of the atomic bomb against Japan was immoral. Nuclear weapons are an enemy of humanity.

I can see that. And as many Catholics she can drag into her religion the better. If opposed, fines will be delt. She and Sanders have the media who is not a friend of the Church on their side. The media twists everything the Church says to their own agenda.

The media and politicians continues to primote divide and conquir techniques. For instance they get people motivated by luring on racism, sexism, gender, class, same sex attraction. The Bernie Sanders Democrat Sicialist party preys in that non sense. While racism does happen they blow it up by a few events or a select few firing people up.

We can fight back which plays into their hands and causes more if a stir which is precisly what they want.

We can sit back and try not to feed into it but then they continuento pass laws that hurt humanity, women, and families.

So what do we do? Who else and what other techniques do the enemies if the Church have?

Enemies of the Church are those who oppose the Church’s divine mission. Of course, as someone else posted, we are to love our enemies. Along those lines, enemies of the Church can be converted–St. Paul is a great example.

So any ‘entity’ promoting any of those things, would be an enemy of the CC…right?

I highly doubt the CC in modern times would come out and call anyone an enemy, no matter what their beliefs are, instead, they would use vague terms to describe them, but never use the word enemy. They wont even do that for a govt that condones abortion, so anything less is not to be expected I guess.

The CC/ Vatican and the world secular authorities, are FAR too friendly in our times imo…if you look at this compared to other times in history, that cannot be a good thing, especially the direction the world is heading, not sure what it would take for the CC to deem someone an enemy when you think about it like this.

I am looking more for people or groups who are deliberate enemies of the Church. Certainly though you do raise some good points, dissenting Catholics bring down the Church. But why are they dissenting?
I think that they are dissenting because they don’t believe the teachings of the church are valid. People don’t think that it’s a sin to have sex without being married or to use contraception etc.

Other than that, I don’t think that you have any enemies. Just people who disagree with what you teach as it affects secular life. SSM being perhaps the best example. If you try to control how people who are not Catholics can live their lives, then you will get shouted down just the same as would happen if it were any other denomination or religion. Sharia law comes to mind.

The only true enemy of the Church is the Devil and his demons.

Every human person on the planet has the capacity to embrace Christ and His Church.

The demons will do anything to stop that.

As Ven. Fulton Sheen said: “There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate The Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be.”

It’s because of misinformation and misunderstanding that people “hate” the Church. If they really understood the Church they wouldn’t be opposing Her teachings.

Well said.

I think socialists and the Illuminati are the main enemies of the Church along with extremist Muslims.

Tough luck that God and his angels do not SEEM to care about the “enemy”. God could wipe out the enemy… allegedly, but he does not SEEM to care. Maybe the story of Job is true (horrifying as it may be). God and the Adversary are bosom buddies, sipping mead on the clouds, making “bets” and having a good laugh at our expense. 🙂 (Or should I say… at YOUR expense?)

Why should anyone “hate” the church? Maybe some previous members of the church are so dissatisfied with the church, that they actually “hate” it. But don’t worry. Most people simply do not care about the church and the teachings.

Freemasons,ISIS,planned parenthood, liberal political leaders such as Hilary Clinton along with sedevacantists.

Lastly modernist Catholics who refuse to follow the Church and Her infallible teachings on Faith and morals.

Most importantly every single one of those groups are lead by Satan and these people choose to disobey out of ether ignorance or hatred for Christ
