mlchance:
It came into vogue in the 60s, largely due to the efforts of socialist/communist apologists.
Not at all. I personally remember the Nazis being called right-wingers in the late 1940s after the war, and my parents called Nazis right-wingers back in the 1930s. Who ever associated Nazism with socialism back then?
That point aside, the fact remains that fascism and Nazism are both forms of socialism and, thus, are leftist ideologies.
In the popular mind, Nazis are right-wingers and will always be so, regardless what some academic social scientists, analyzing the ideologies, believe - whether they’re right or wrong about it.

this thread hasn’t addressed the real issues. i think that the danger is very real of the us becoming the next (fascist/extreme/totalitarian/call it what you want) state.
all in the name of “homeland security”). i, with my old eyes, see it happening. (jerry springer. "jerry, jerry, jerry/ seig heil, seig heil, seig heil, both with fists raised in the air) why is that program so popular? he even has his own black shirts to maintain order?.

passports for canadians to enter the us?

i’m old, so i probably might not see the worst.

In the popular mind, black men were nothing more than english speaking gorillas to the average Arkansasan 70 years ago I imagine. Haven’t things changed a bit…mostly due to academic social movements, analyzing ideologies, as you say???
