Who are your Saints

Going off of this old thread I don’t want to resurrect.

Who are your Saints or Saint. Yes my saints are many but they help me out a lot before the thrown of God.

St. Bridget of Ireland
St. Jeanne D’ Arc aka Joan of Arc
St. Jude Thaddeus
St. Philomena
St. Etheldreda
St. Cajetan
St. Expeditus
St. Cecilia
 
St. Francis of Assisi, by far- my Confirmation saint and my favorite (is it okay to have “favorites”? :D. At first, I chose him because I wanted to be a vet (and now finally in college for that!), and after I read how fond he was of sheep, I just KNEW that he was going to be the one, despite some people’s protests that girls should have female saints as they can identify with them better. :rolleyes:

He and I have the same love of sheep- he kept them as pets, saluted flocks as he passed by, and mourned the death of a newborn lamb killed by a sow.

Additionally, I knew that he was everything otherwise that I am not- and is therefore the perfect role model to follow. I was very attracted to his life and felt a connection to him, far more than any other saint.

He’s the patron saint of my flock, too.

I also have St. Anne as my name saint. I like St. Isidore the farmer for obvious reasons, St. Germaine the shepherdess (patroness of sheep, shepherdesses, and handspinners), and St. Anthony of Padua, also St. Dominic and St. Michael the Archangel. And don’t forget the Blessed Virgin Mary.

It’s okay to have a lot of saints.

Here’s a question: does anybody know of a patron saint of sheepshearers (since I am one)?

I was just thinking about something and I saw your quote. There are times I often wondered is it really us picking out our saints. If any thing maybe its the saint picking us for a good reason. Because I have a special connection with St. Expeditus and St. Philomena.

As it goes, God does work in mysterious ways.
 
Aside of course from Our Lady, I love, love, love St. Joseph. He is the patron of our household, and he has been kind to me. Sometimes, he has been the only friend I had. I pray to him daily, and I will be grateful to him for the rest of my life.

My confirmation saint is St. Mary Magdalen, whom I also love.

I am beginning to develop a devotion to the archangels, too.

I too believe that the Saints choose us
 
I actually picked Simon the Zealot, the eleventh Apostle chosen by Christ as my Confirmation saint last March. I don’t tend to pray for saint intercession because of my scruples, but occasionally I’ll wear his saint metal that says Pray for Us. Kind of gory, but he was actually sawn in half longitudionally (sorry for the bad spelling) from the groin up for preaching the gospel in either Persia, Armenia, or Turkey. Ughhhhhhh. Sorry for the mental pictures everyone lol, but THATS what I call faith!!!
 
My confirmation saint is St. Joseph of Cupertino. I kind of picked him on a whim.

In 1985, I was at the grotto in Lourdes before I was even baptized. At my wife’s urging, I dipped my hand into the water and signed myself with the cross. Leaving there, DW and I “accidentally” encountered Blessed John Paul II’s entourage in Genoa, Italy. I was there in the crowd as he passed by, giving us his apostolic blessing. The next year, I was in RCIA. In recent years, I was diagnosed with cancer and have received a miraculous remission. She is the patron of bodily illness. Looking back, yeah, I can see it all now.
 
  1. St. Ignatius de Loyola (confirmation)- I used to be an adventurer like you, until I took a **cannonball **to the shin. (making your arrow to the knee wimpy in comparison) He founded the Jesuits.
  2. St. Michael the Archangel- He is almost always shown stepping on Satan’s head. What’s not awesome about that!?
  3. St. Nicholas of Myra- This was one busy guy! Saving young girls from prostitution, popping in and out of prison for being a Christian, slapping heretics in the face, interrupting executions, this guy was awesome! He was also appointed bishop at a time when his see was losing people, much like what is happening to our churches today.
4 St. Moses the Ethiopian- a 5th(ish) century gangster turned contemplative- and a brilliant one at that!

I’m willing to bet you might have had the Archangel Raphael walking with you during that time. That is one of the areas he will intercede in.
 
St. Agnes of Rome is my patron/conformation saint, a virgin martyr and Spouse of Christ, and I feel that she more or less picked me rather than the other way around. The same with St. Therese the Little Flower.

I also like very much St. Teresa of Avila, very wise and holy women. I have been meaning to read her book on the Interior Castle but haven’t got to it yet.
 
Saint Damien of Molokai. I go to him for everything, and rarely pray to others.
