Who do I contact if I want to convert to Catholicism?

I know I have to take RCIA in the fall but idk where to start. Should I email someone who works for my local Catholic Church about it?
 
You can call the church, and set up an apt with a priest or rcia director if you have questions

Email a priest (may be very busy), or the rcia coordinator- look at the staff directory for the churches website, they should be on there 🙂

If you know you want to take the classes and don’t feel a need to talk to anyone first, I’d just ask the receptionist when they start, and have them add you to the list!
 
Go to your local parish and pick up a copy of the bulletin the information on who and how to contact should be there. If your local parish has a website, it could be there too. Better yet, pick up a bulletin after you attend Mass. Call the parish office, they can connect you with the person who is in charge of the program. If somehow none of these work, Go to Mass the priest usually greets people after Mass and you can ask him who to speak to.
 
You could I suppose email the parish you are near, but really have no fear and call the church you are interested in contacting and they will be very happy to help you with all your questions.
Be assured God loves you and is calling you to come to Him!

I’ve never been to Mass. My parents arent really religious so idk if they would be up to taking me.

If you don’t think your parents would take you to Mass, how do you plan on getting to RCIA classes?
 
Find out the closest Catholic (make sure it is Roman Catholic, and not SSPX, or American Catholic etc…) church to where you currently live, call them, and tell them you want to convert. They will tell you what to do next. That’s what I did. trust me it works.👍

Thanks and its yes its a Roman Catholic Church

If you’re a minor, you’ll probably need your parents permission to take RCIA classes and join the Catholic Church. Have you talked with them about this?
 
Just call the parish tomorrow and ask them what you need to do. They will let you know all the particulars.

Have you been baptized?

Then you would definitely need to go through the whole RCIA process. As others have said, you will probably need your parents’ permission to enter the program. If they don’t give permission, you could at least ask the pastor for reading and study materials that would help you learn on your own until you turn 18 and can enter RCIA without permission.

You might also inquire with the parish whether there is anyone in your area who would be able to give you rides to and from the classes (again with your parents’ permission).

Well, then let’s do things as seriously as possible…as the young Christ did! 👍

Find out more about the closest Parish, their Catechism days and times (I don’t think as a minor you will be enrolled in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults but simply in standard Catechism classes…I may be wrong…), read a bit about the Church (ex. the Compendium or reliable writings such as this).

And pray! 👍

Then, once you feel confirmed in your decision and are ready to present your case, plainly and simply talk to them, tell them that you feel called to become a Christian in the Catholic Church, and that you wish to be enrolled in the local Parish for Catechism classes. Present them the schedule of classes as you say this.

Obviously they will be surprised 🙂 As they learn that this was your initiative, and as you defend your decision by showing that you know what you are doing and you do have a basic grasp of Catholicism, they will be more open to respect your decision.
 
I called up my local Catholic Church today, it went well. They said the RCIA classes start in September and they said they can get me a sponsor 🙂

Quick note: you are “studying with JW grandmother”? Be careful, because the Watchtower Society is very anti-Catholic, and the Bible translation they use has many errors (for instance: “the word was a god” rather than “the word was God”, just to mention one, or “this means my body” rather than “this is my body”). Just saying 🙂

Thanks and yes I already knew that lol. I havent told her I want to convert to Catholicism because that wouldnt go very well with her.
