Who Eats Christmas Cookies in Advent?

As a cradle Catholic my mom trained me to give up cookies or chocolate in Advent. I suspect that helped assure that we actually had cookies on December 25th. I haven’t trained my children the same way my mom trained me. If I don’t freeze the cookies, hide them, or make hideous flavored ones, my family eats them almost as fast as I can make them.
 
The Pope allows himself to eat one of each kind of cookie at Christmas parties. 🙂
 
I do and I will until the inevitable genetic diabetes rears its ugly head.

Freezing them wouldn’t stop me…I am cookieholic;) However,I may try abstaining during advent…next year,too late for this year!😛
 
We ate them when we were kids as fast as we made them! I did try to give up sweets during Advent and partially succeeded but the few days I’ve been making up for it. Its hard if you bake things (like nut breads and such) not to eat any, although so far I’ve been really got at avoiding chocolate, but thats because I’m getting older and sometimes can’t eat it.

I just put out my Nativity Set yesterday and my wreaths today. We don’t have a tree as both of us are seniors and don’t have much company coming. Our good Bishop wanted us to wait until Christmas, but I figured a few days before wouldn’t hurt. I also heard that Jesus may have been born in November rather than December.
 
I don’t bake a lot during Advent. That certainly helps! 😃 I do try to limit sweets during advent and usually do a pretty good job - although we have been having tons of food at the office between catered lunches for meetings and our office potluck! I am glad to hear that other cradle Catholics gave up sweets during Advent. I’ve been told I am very mean for cutting off the candy! 😛

I do much more baking and sweets eating during the octave of Christmas - we are all home and have stocking full of sweets to eat! 😃

Well, freezing the cookies doesn’t stop exactly my family–it just slows them down a bit and allows us to identify the perpetrators by their broken teeth.

Cradle Catholic as well; I love baking - and eating - Christmas cookies during the season of Advent. 😃
 
ooooops I wasn’t supposed to eat Oreo’s last night? I had no idea.
 
I find baking cookies more fun than eating them.

I used to have a ritual of baking cookies during Advent and giving them away.

The act of baking cookies puts me in the holiday mood much more than the act of eating them.
