The Virgin Mother has said “ALL NATIONS SHALL CALL ME BLESS-ED”.
I think Jesus is blessed too, far more than Mary. But I don’t really call him “Blessed Son” either. Sometimes Jesus the Messiah. Do you have a title you normally call Jesus instead of just Jesus?

when i began reading and questioning the Bible, i always had it in my mind that when i would come across a verse that i didn’t understand or that seemed really pointless, i would think, “what was the point of that verse? if God had truly written this book, He wouldn’t put it there for no reason. it must mean something.”

omitting such things is a fatal error and you are missing on some rich, deep theology and mind blowing revelations that will be as clear as glass and concrete as stone once you discover it. our Blessed Mother has so much symbolism, typology, and a vast amount of other things i haven’t discovered yet throughout the Bible. it’s just a shame protestants ignore the dots and refuse to connect them because of their hatred for the Catholic Church. His mother bears the grunt just like at the foot of the cross…

Protestants point out that Jesus said all the believers were the same as his mother, which seems to say she is no different than any other. Do Catholics have a belief about that one?

Matthew 12:46-50 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

are you sure the context of this verse you mention covers her entirely or was it to make a specific point about equality of all humanity? again, there is a lot that can be drawn from this verse, and i am not qualified to point them out to you. to look at such verses at the surface level is to keep your faith at the same level as well, at the surface.

it is not my job to prove her significance to you. there is plenty of material out there, much of which is undeniable. you can start with my favorite, that which proves that the Blessed Virgin Mary is without a doubt, a type of new Ark of the Covenant. read the evidence and tell me if Luke did not intentionally want us to draw this conclusion about her, which would make her just a tad more special than other people.

short answer - you simply cannot deny this. at least to me it is the most in your face truth i have learned so far. i think that if protestants were aware of this they might be a little more open to seeing Our Lady in a different light. and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. pax.

Sure I believe Mary is symbolic, like a lot of people in the Bible. I was just posting about the symbolism of Isaac and Ishmael as Jew/Gentile believers of the church.

But in treatment of Mary as another follower of Jesus, I see a lot of similarities between Mary and the Jewish Shekhinah, which is the female aspect of God for Jews. I know it’s not exactly the case, but a lot of Muslims think the Trinity is God, Mary, and Jesus. So the exact place of Mary in Catholicism, whether it is of symbolic importance or as an object of worship, is confusing to a lot of people.

Honestly, I can’t think of ANY denomination that hates Mary.

I can think of denominations that would say… “Um, Well, She is dead…” they don’t mean spiritually dead. They mean they mean she is in Heaven with God, Focusing all her attention on Him and cannot access the earth. I know Catholics don’t believe the same but how does that make this person “Anti-Mary”? They believe she was blessed by God and was the mother of Jesus. I can’t find hatred there, only disagreement!

Others will say “Prayer is ALWAYS a form of worship and therefore it’s wrong to pray to others than God.”
Again NOT what Catholics believe but also NOT hatred towards Mary or anyone else.

Who and where are these “Mary Haters” people keep referring to?
I don’t think that any Protestants hate Mary either. I do think, however, some of them hate what they perceive as a kind of idolatry or over-emphasis on the Virgin, and can sometimes (as humans do) make a disparaging remark against the Catholic’s view of Mary. These remarks can make Catholics upset, and hence respond with the criticism of “hating Mary,” once again, out of emotion. I had that happen once, when someone on the board referred to Mary as an “incubator” which I found not only offensive to her, but to all mothers as well, and smacked not only of pro-choice rhetoric but also of a rather utilitarian God who views people as objects to be used.

I do think that it’s important to remember that the boards can sometimes “generate more heat than light,” as unfortunate as that is, and that we should all try not to resort to name calling.

now that you recognize one or two symbolisms, go deeper. there’s more.

those who are confused… well… what can we say… the truth is there. wolves will lead the sheep astray. there are many confused Catholics as well, but that’s why they put their trust in the Church. many things cannot be grasped by many people, so they must have trust. that’s the beauty of one, universal Church for everyone.

=================

Jesus to protestant in heaven, “Hi. Welcome to heaven. I know you know my Father, here He is… But now, I don’t think you’ve met my Mother…”

“you can love our Blessed Mother, but no one can love Jesus’ mom as much as Jesus did”.

King of kings
My Savior
Son of Man
Son of the most Holy
Jesus the Messiah

There are many more titles than this.

In everyday conversation? Like Blessed Mother is.
Faith, yes, it is up to the person what he wants to call Jesus. sometimes in conversation, I find myself saying my Lord and my God. He is King of Kings. He is risen. He is here. :harp:

Does this mean that you dislike anyone who says the “Hail Mary”? We call her “Mary” whenever we pray that prayer.
Nope, we’re just quoting Gabriel there. And she wasn’t the Blessed Mother yet, although she was on her way.

I usually refer to Him as Christ, not Jesus. I don’t call the Pope Benjy either. I do call the president Dubya.

The the Marian apparitions of Guadalupe, Lourdes, Fatima were not demons posing as Mary. Just **because they happened after the bible doesn’t mean they didn’t happen. **

I was only saying that a lot of churches that honor Mary are because of the many Marian Apparitions throughout the ages and also because she was chosen to be the mother of God. My own parish honors her as a peace maker, but that doesn’t take away from Jesus. It’s just honor and recognition. She was HIS mother and the Mass is all about HIM.

So, with that in mind should we not name our churches after other saints, as they probably wouldn’t have asked for any recognition or honor either.
I never said that the apparitions aren’t real or didn’t happen. I think they did. However, the apparitions are demons disguising themselves as Mary (or what people want to perceive Mary to look like).

The reason I know they aren’t right is because what the apparitions say is just enough truth to suck people in…but then say things that contradict Scripture. The skin of the truth stuffed with a lie.

Let me make it perfectly clear that Mary is NOT the whore of Babylon.

However, there are demons and deceiving spirits out there PRETENDING to be Mary and leading many astray.
I would agree that there may have been false apparitions (though it’s never been proven that there have been).

However, do you completely refuse to accept apparitions from heavenly beings sent by God?

Also, if the fruits of the appartion was good,
would you still call it an apparition from a demon?

Don’t get me wrong, I know that there are some working in Satan’s name who pretend to be spirits of light (apparitions and actual persons). I’m not going to pretend that Satan doesn’t use images to mislead people.

Some are overt (like pornography, media, etc…) and some are subvertive (like religions, religious figures, etc…).

Why do you think that the appartions of Jesus’ mother are demons?

Do you test the spirit by it’s fruits as Scripture instructed us to?

There are “apparitions” in The Holy Bible too.

So apparitions by their nature are “not” unscriptural.

Then I suggest the entire Catholic dogma about Mary be thrown out for they are telling lies about her and smearing her good name.
By all means…list what you perceive to be lies:

Insert Catholic Lies Here]

I do. I love her because she was a humble, obedient servant of the Lord. She knew that she was a sinner in need of a savior just like we all are. I love her because she knew that Jesus is the one people should be praying to, adoring, worshipping, and offering their complete devotion to and not her!!!
Well, since no one worships Mary, and that’s never been suggested, that statement is uncalled for.

You love her?

How?

Do you feel pain in your heart when other’s try to belittle her?

Have you ever come to her defense?

Do you think of her as the Scriptures refer to her…as you mother?

I’m not asking these questions sarcastically, but honestly.

I want to know the depth of your love for the mother we share with Christ.

I (and other Catholics I’ve known) have met non-Catholic Christians who literally hate her, who literally work to debase her, to discredit her, who say unmentionable things about her.

The only other people that I’ve heard show such animosity and wrath towards Jesus’ mother have been actual Satanists that I’ve come across.

There are literal haters of Mary. I believe that this disdain they feel towards her at the mention of her name (even if spoken of by Catholics in a venerable manner) is a manifestation of Satan to create division among Christians.

All Christians should not only love Mary for what she did for Jesus (giving Him the very blood He shed for us, giving Him her flesh to become Man, feeding Him as a baby, nurturing Him, protecting Him from Satan’s attacks when He was too young to do it Himself, etc…), they should honor her as the 4th commandment states that we should honor our mother. And she is our mother.

Take it from an Evangelical’s point of view:

youtube.com/watch?v=FnblXvEIKbg&feature=related

Sirach tells us that the person who discredits their parents heaps upon them the wrath of God.

But I think I’m preaching now.

I digress.
