Who here likes video games? Anyone?

Ah, that’s sort of what I was expecting. I’ll have to psych myself up for it. And make a meal that maxes out my hearts. And make a meal that increases my defense. And make sure Mipha’s grace is ready to go. 😄
Sadly Mipha’s grace doesn’t work in the Trial. I learned that the hard way. 😝

My recommendation is to just build up as much stamina and hearts as you can before going in. Oh and definitely upgrade the Sheikah Slate! When you upgrade stasis it actually gives you the ability to freeze enemies, which is a huge help in the later levels, as you can probably imagine 👍

Oh no! Good to know ahead of time, though. Sorry you learned the hard way. 😩

Thanks. I have already updated the slate, but I keep forgetting that stasis can do that. 🤣 I also keep forgetting about the ice bricks. 9 times out of 10, if I come across a puzzle I cannot solve, it’s because I need to use the ice bricks and I am just not thinking of it. I defeated the Zora boss without using the ice at all to get across the water (using a lot of meals in the process). Only afterwards did I realize “Hey, that probably would have made it easier.” 😝

There is always one weapon or ability in every Zelda game that gives me that sort of mental block. I’ll be sitting there getting increasingly frustrated thinking, “How am I supposed to get past this?” And then I finally remember. 😊

Anyone else excited for Cuphead coming out next week? For those who don’t know, it’s a 2D platform shooter (similar to Metal Slug) with tons of boss battles. The hook is every character in the game was hand drawn and every background was painted, all in the style of 30s Max Fleischer-type cartoons.

With the HD remakes of Windwaker and Twilight Princess on the Wii U, I kept hoping they would do the same for Ocarina of Time and/or Majora’s Mask. But they redid them on the 3DS instead. Maybe now with the Switch, we’ll see that happen.
At one point I was considering getting those 3DS remakes. I think there are some subtle differences from the originals. In Majora’s Mask they changed up the boss battles a bit, and true to Zelda form, gave all of them gigantic eyeballs as weak points when you stunned them. They added a boss rush to Ocarina, kind of like the one in Skyward Sword. I guess Majora’s Mask has always technically had a boss rush if you wanted one lol.

I would actually really like to see a 3D re-imagining of A Link to the Past. Experiencing that game in 3D would be really neat IMO. A Link Between Worlds was kind of like that, but it was still a 2D game just with 3D models.

We only have a two week window of inactivity on threads now, so I have to remember to post. 😜 I haven’t played much this past week. Regular life and all. 😄

Super Mario Odyssey comes out in a month. I’m excited for that one. I’m not sure I’ll be done with Zelda by then, but then Mario might be a “do not open till Christmas” game anyway.

Still going. Haven’t played it this past week. Lots of late work nights and family in town.

Lately, I’m into shooters and fighters games.

Any titles you have in mind?
Hi RedCaves. 🙂

I also like shooters and fighting games as well as racing games.

A few titles I enjoy include -

War Thunder (free game)
Project Cars
Ghost Recon Wildlands
The Division
Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds
Next Car Game/Wreckfest
Battlefield 4
Battlefield 1 (don’t really play it much though, Battlefield 4 was my favorite, Battlefield 1 I think ruined it because it’s all bolt action sniping in WW1)
Call of Duty Black Ops 3 (Primarily for zombie gameplay, looking forward to see what the new COD will be like with zombies, but wont buy it at it’s release price)

And mostly I’m a fan of online multiplayer/LAN games, solo games can get boring for me pretty quickly.

Another game I used to absolutely love until the creators ruined it was called ‘America’s Army 2’.

I can’t wait for that one either! I love anything Mario related.
Does anyone else here play PUBG?
I do. I’m absolutely dismal at it, but it’s still pretty fun. I’m usually the one hiding in a corner until my teammates need reviving. 🙃

@Joe_5859 I’m releasing one of my fairies to keep this thread alive. I think we need more updates from you! 😁 What kinds of trouble has Link gotten into recently?

Been playing a lot of Forza 4

Drove the Dodge Viper ACR around the Nordschlaffe in 8 minutes The real world record is 7:13

I have gotten side tracked from my time in Hyrule. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: All our parish Bible studies and RCIA are in full swing, so my evenings have been pretty full. My daughter doesn’t like me playing anything interesting when she’s not there. So I’ve been playing more Splatoon 2 in my free moments, since it is a lot easier to pick up and play for short bursts. I’m anxious to get back to it, though!

Nice, I guess that’s the more important thing to be doing! What is Splatoon like? I have never looked into it, and all I know is that it involves paint rollers? Yes I know I can just Google it but it’s more fun to discuss it with real people. And we need to keep this thread going until December so we can discuss the second DLC pack 😎

I like Minecraft! Haven’t played it in a while but when I was my world was epic 😃

I have a DS that is collecting dust. Right now the only game I am playing (when I remember to) is Pokemon Go.

It’s basically Nintendo’s all ages, kid appropriate answer to the shooter genre. There are several different modes. The main mode is just two teams of four facing off and trying to ink more turf than the other team in 3 minutes, with a wide variety of weapons from sniper guns to giant paint rollers and paint brushes. Think super spoakers filled with paint. 😝 You can “splat” the other team, which sends them to their spawn point, but killing the other team is not the primary objective. I’ve gotten 20 splats in a match and still lost. 😔

They have some other ranked modes with different objectives (e.g. controlling the central tower, controlling a central zone in your teams color, or capturing the special “rainmaker” weapon and bringing it to the enemy base.

There is a single player campaign, which is fun, but not too long. The multiplayer is the main attraction.

The second Splatoon added a “Salmon run” mode which is a cooperative mode with three others where you are fighting a horde of salmon like creatures and collecting golden eggs while trying to survive.

I’ve never been a big fan of shooters. The only one I ever got into was Goldeneye, but that was 20 years ago. But I really enjoy Splatoon. I was still playing the first one regularly until the second one came out and I picked up the Switch.

I haven’t played my 3DS is a while either but I kind of like using it whenever I find a game that is interesting. I wasn’t sure if I would like a handheld but I kind of actually like being able to take it anywhere in the house. I used to play Pokemon Diamond on it a lot to help calm myself down at the end of graduate school.
