Who is in charge of YOUR church?

I attended a great speaking yesterday afternoon and the speaker mentioned this question. She had asked herself before coming into the Catholic Church this question and her, like I, could not answer it as a Protestant.

So I ask you, non-Catholics…who, here on earth, is in charge of your church?

I am serious and sincere in my question.

I will respond in order to keep this thread going I am interested myself in knowing.

although similar threads have posted, and responses like Holy Spirit, Jesus, are the responses, Mayby they dont have the assurance of the divine authority?, and I dont think they want to admit A Man founded or is in charge of their church?

Maybe that sit light to the idea of the Church as a hierarchical institution, preferring the notion of the Mystical Body of Christ. They haven’t got the Roman Catholic hang up about authority - having somebody on hand to tell them what to think. If they are wrong they are answerable to God; nobody else.

They certainly don’t want to swallow somebody’s spurious claim to possess that authority.
 
This gets asked periodically here. Invariably many Protestants will insist, no matter how the question is worded, that Christ leads their church. You will never get a straight answer. That is because it is a question that has no real meaning to many Evangelical Protestants. They do not appear to understand why God would have a human leadership on Earth, as if God were somehow and anarchist.

Now back to the subject.

So, since Allah is not physically present in a corporeal body on Earth, and according to Islamic Theology, never has been, who is in charge of your Mosque?
 
Here on Earth is what I asked.

When I was a Baptist, I could definitely say, the Preacher and the Congregation was in charge, after all, there were meeting every month or so, and we voted. Usually whatever theology that the Preacher wanted to preach that week, we all sat around the dinner table, talking about what Brother “so and so” said today…and even said, “yep, that’s the gospel”…so to me, in most Protestent churches…some man has authority and I’m asking *WHO???" in your church…

Who, here on earth, do Protestants turn to for help in theology? Is this person considered of authority, in a way?

Once again, I say, I am sincere in my questioning…

I, personally, am not bashing Protestants. It’s something that they all should be asking and curious about on their own.

So your authority is you. A free will to believe as you chose, not God’s will? I dont know what the Successors of the Apostles Church has to do with your free will to believe as you will?

Anyone is free to believe or reject what the Catholic church teaches. It is God who calls us, it is up to the believer to follow Christ and God’s will not ones own free will to believe as one choses. To follow Jesus, does not mean to invent my own beliefs. Because to be Christian, one dies to self at baptism, It is no longer I who live, but I who freely chose to live in Jesus Christ body, His glorious Holy, Catholic Apostolic church.

How about you mathematician, do you live as Christ does, or yourself?

No, I don’t know. Each and every denomination is different.

I attend a Prebyterian church so we have Kirk Session that is in charge of our local congregation. This is a body made up of the Ministers and congregational elders of the church. It directs the details of church life within the Presbyterian tradition.

Individual churches are grouped together geographically into a presbytery. Each church sends their minister(s) and an elder to prespytery meeting. This bodies approves candidates for ministry, ministerial calls and dismissing ministers.

Presbyterys are grouped together in synods. All members of the presbytery attend the synod meeting. This body handles matters that are more than local in nature. For example, they run training sessions, summer camps and retreat centers.

At the top is the General Assemby which meets annual. This is the body that governs the national church and sets policy.

All these bodies pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
