Mohammad: A decent schizophrenic visionary who got his lucky break and successfully invented a political religion.

Mohammad is

A false prophet that claimed to have received revelation from the sky.

A misleading teacher that worked certain tenets of other religions -after twisting them - into his new ideology.

An organiser of biblical distortion and forgery.

A zealous philosopher who tried to make himself the Moses of Arabs.

Peace,

Angelos N.B.

I wouldn’t say he got “lucky” so to speak. He was obviously a smart guy although I believe his teachings are for 7th century Arabia and not timeless like the message of Christ.

he was lucky that there was a tribal dispute in medina which decided to take him as their 3rd party mediator.

Whether he was a prophet or not is open for debate, because there is conjecture as to whether or not he left us with any prophecy.

One of the tenets of Islam is “There is no God but Allah, and Muhammed is his messenger”. I’ve always thought it was “messenger”, and not “prophet”.

So, I choose “messenger” - even though I don’t believe it.
:hmmm:

I will define Mohamed by what he is not:

Mohamed is not the Rassul (Messenger) of Allah.

Mohamed is not the Nabi (Prophet) of Allah.

Mohamed is not the Khatim al-Anbiya (Seal of the Prophets)

God bless,

Rony

I believe he would qualify as “prophet” in the OT definition…a person who “forth tells” not necessarily one who “foretells”. That a “prophet” must speak of things in the future is incorrect…many of the OT prophets spoke prophetically concerning justice against the wrong doings against the poor, widows and downtrodden. Only later did the connotation of a “divine fortune teller” come into play.

Muhammed did speak forth to the citizens of Arabia in his day…he called them to do justice and show mercy to those least fortuneate. As I understand one of the tenets of Islam is giving alms for the poor…that is “prophetic”, to take care of the poor.

The prophet of Islam…a prophet of Allah.

Decent reform-minded guy who wrote an interesting book.
What was decent about the man?

Since allah of the Koran is not God, Mohammed is neither. It makes no difference the word allah has come to be accepted by many as a name for god much like the word car can describe a Mercedes or a Yugo. It makes only a little difference that Mohammedeans say allah is the same god as God, but only a marginal connection exists since the words of the god of the Qur’an are contrary to God, and the actions of Islams prophet and those who follow him are contrary to God.

He was a false prophet.

And then that wicked one shall be revealed whom the Lord Jesus shall kill with the spirit of his mouth; and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming, him, Whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders, And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying: That all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have consented to iniquity. [2Thess. 2 : 8-11]

I’m not the Rassul, the Nabi, or the Khatim al-Anbiya

Hm, so I’m mohammed:eek:

You didn’t give the correct alternative:

An apostate Nestorian clergyman who was deluded by a demon claiming to be the Archangel Gabriel.

I confess there is no God but Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and Jesus is God Incarnate.

My understanding of Muhammed is rather limited, though I just received (as a gift) a Koran.

But I will make a nation of the descendants of Hagar’s son because he also is your son." - Genesis 21:13;

I was taught that Ishmael was the son of Abraham and his wife’s (Sarah’s) maidservant, Hagar. Hagar and Ishmael were “banished,” as it were, well, let me quote the Wiki article (and especially what is quoted from the Catholic Encyclopedia (1913) at Wiki) which has more resources than I have at hand right now:
[Sarah told Abraham] “Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.”[3] [10] Ishmael was very dear to Abraham. He initially refused to do as Sarah asked.[2] He finally gave in to his wife’s request when God told him that He would take care of Ishmael, since he was a descendant of Abraham.[8][11] Abraham provided Hagar and her child with bread and a bottle of water and sent her into the desert of Paran.[8][12] Hagar, with her son, wandered in the wilderness and ran out of water. When they were reduced to great distress, an angel appeared and showed Hagar a spring of water saying "What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation."****8][13]
I was taught that Islam comes from the line of Ishmael, and Muhammed is a descendant of Ishmael.

Now, as far as “prophet” and other titles go, I have yet to learn more. I was told that the 12 Arab tribes of Ishmael were still God’s people, though not God’s “chosen,” as the Jews were.

:rotfl:

Good one.

My post was intended to be a strike at the heart of the second part of the Muslim Shahada which says that “Mohammed is the Rassul of Allah”.

I didn’t want to deal with who he is, whether a deluded man, a demon-influenced man, or whatever he was, he was certainly not the Rassul, not the Nabi, and not the Khatim al-Anbiya, which are key terms that Muslims use to describe Mohamed.

God bless,

Perversion of the Gospel

6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; 7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. **8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! **10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

According to this site in regards to Mohamed:

He was an outsider born a pagan, living among pagans, and never baptized. He adopted Christian doctrines and selected among them in the true heresiarch fashion. He dropped those that did not suit him and insisted on those that did – which is the mark of the heresiarch – but he did not do this as from within; his action was external.
