Who is the new Adam?

Sometimes I think we all are the new Adam. Everyday we are brought up with a choice. Do not eat the apple and spend eternity in paradise with our Lord - or eat the apple and go through the same exile that Adam and Eve did. I know this is a pretty simple explanation, but it seems to be a warning to all of us.

I agree, Paul says we are a new creation in Christ. Every time we receive the Eucharist, we are like the egg which receives the sperm, a new creation in Christ, the New Adam. You see Saint Joseph when agree to take Mary as his wife, also receive the Real Presence, the same Presence we can receive every day in the Eucharist.

The whole point here is that the Real Presence is the center of marraige, not the man nor the woman.

I’ll go along with the typology, and even that we all are given the chance to be (in Christ) a new Adam (male) or new Eve (female), but Beaver, you have yet to apologize to me for telling me this in your earlier post:

Oh! but you do support the culture of death, as long as you do not understand THIS exhortation. It is because of YOUR understanding we have a gay culture. It is also why Cain killed Abel. The fact is it is the reason for our sinfull nature.

I found this quite offensive, and I’d appreciate a retraction.

As long as you understand that the solution to the culture of death is related to who is at the center of our marriages and you help correct this problem. I will retract my statement.

I believe that God is at the center of our marriages. I believe in the sanctity of marriage. However, I accept the church’s decisions on decrees of nullity. I wish that there were not a need for these decrees (but sometimes there is). I wish that people were more aware of what marriage is before the event, and were more inclined to work at it. But I do believe that just because “some” people “may” abuse annulments is no reason to deny them to ALL. After all, many people abuse MARRIAGE, yet no one has proposed that we stop marriages, have they? Those who “abuse” may THINK that they have gotten away with something here on earth, but do you really think that they will not have ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES to deal with? And those who do NOT abuse are not getting away with anything, but instead are being healed and helped and brought closer to God, after being wounded by divorce.

Divorce is a TERRIBLE thing. Divorce never fails to wound and often destroy.

But sometimes it is literally a choice between divorce and death, between divorce and unspeakable sin (rape, incest, mutilation). . .and the Church itself recognizes that there are innocent parties to divorce, in these situations as well as in those situations where husband or wife divorces an innocent party solely for their own physical and emotional satisfactions.

There have always been situations where the sacred institution of marriage has been misused, and there will be, until the Second coming, when there will be no more marriage at all. That’s reality. Hopefully there will also always be those who speak up for the sanctity of marriage, those who try to help people be better prepared for marriage, even those who have suffered wrongfully by being divorced using their example to help keep others from suffering too. That’s reality too.

I hope that more and more people who really are sacramentally married make more of an effort to include God in their marriage; that can lead to nothing but good. I hope that while we celebrate those whose marriage is a good example, that we likewise have compassion for those innocents suffering through no fault of their own, and–hardest of all–that we have charity for those who are guilty of sin, meaning that, while we condemn the SIN, we reflect God’s mercy toward the SINNER.

Sorry my friend, but that is just plain wrong and I searched the whole document and it nowhere says that at all. In fact Catholic teaching has always been the same as the Bible’s, that Jesus is the New Adam. I don’t know how you got that idea, but it is not what the Catholic Church has ever taught.

Neither article even says anything about St. Joseph being the New Adam.

Can you give us some info on where you got this idea and what makes you think so?

In fact Catholic teaching has always been the same as the Bible’s, that Jesus is the New Adam. I don’t know how you got that idea, but it is not what the Catholic Church has ever taught.

Dear Church Militant, I get it from the Title of the article. The old Adam was to Gaurd the Redemeer in the garden of Eden.
You know the one who walked in the garden with Adam and Eve.
