I am totally against abortion in all forms no matter what it is. You can’t be on the fence, you are totally for it or against it. You must not be wishy washy.

How could anyone not be immensely against ripping babies from their mother’s wombs and murdering them?

That is a fair point, and i know people should think of the consequences of having unprotected sex but in some circumstances such as rape, unwanted or unloved babies, this seems like the easiest solution, but im not saying it is right!
And i wouldnt do anything to go against god

Regardless of the way conception occurred (rape, unprotected sex) the baby is still innocent. There is no justification for killing the innocent, ever.

As to ‘unwanted’ babies, unwanted by WHOM? The bio mother may not want the child (or might not THINK she does) but there is also a father, an extended family and many would be parents who want the child. Thus that is not a valid ‘excuse.’ Also ironically although PP keeps spouting the “every child a wanted child” mantra, the reality is that child abuse has INCREASED since abortion was made legal. Further as I understand it, in families where an abortion has taken place, those children that are living are more likely to be abused.

Think about it. If someone is willing to KILL an unborn child, why do you think they would treat a born child any better? If you devalue life, you devalue it at all stages.

That being said I had a bit of trouble with the poll as it said “worst of all” sins. I am not sure that is accurate but it certainly was IMO the best choice of the three options.

Solution to what??? Killing a baby because one person (the mother) does not want it or love it is a solution–and an easy solution at that??? What problem is meriting a cruel death??

I myself would never own a slave, but each and every master must make that choice for himself; it’s not my place to judge them.

What does the question in the thread title have to do with the poll question? They’re two entirely different questions.

I am totally against abortion, but it is not the worst sin.

I can not vote on this poll.

I would say that yes, abortion is a sin, even a mortal sin or a gravely disordered act.

But I can not say that it is “the worst sin of all” as it isn’t.

I do not think we can “rate” sins.

Sin is sin, the only rating that matters is that some are very grave (mortal) and require confession before we approach the Mysteries (Sacraments) and others are not.

I share Byz’s logic. There are not enough voting options ( are there ever enough in any poll?)

Abortion is a terrible sin, but worst ?

there are probably worse…genocide comes to mind, serial killing… torture and murder of kids… any multiple murders…
It’s not like one mortal sin is any better than the others. Some may offend our sensibilities more than others. Some are more shocking than others, they happen a bit less often and are sometime more sensationalized.

The worst thing about abortion is that the culture has become desensitized to it. What should be very shocking, the killing of an unborn infant, is almost common place. That is a direct result of the courts making it legal.

Pro-choicers have managed to dehumanize the unborn. They don’t call them babies or infants, they call them fetuses. Destroying fetuses doesn’t sound so bad. Murdering babies or killing infants sounds horiffic.

Well, abortion is not the worst sin of all. Rejecting Christ is the worst sin of all. So, unfortunately this poll is flawed in it construct. That said, I made the assumption that the first poll choice assumed that you believe abortion is totally wrong and must be stopped completely. I agree with this position. The necessity of abortion as purported by the MSM, PP, NARAL, et all, is a fallacy. There is no such thing as a necessary abortion. The mother’s life is no more (or less) sacred than the child she carries, and has no more entitlement to life, just because she was allowed to complete the gestation process.

It is my place to judge the action without judging the individual.
Without judgment of action, how can I determine if anything
is wrong or not?

Am I missing something in what you wrote?

abortion is truly an evil in our society, but i would be reluctant to call it ‘the worst sin’. none of the poll options fit my view.

considering that blasphemy against the holy spirit is the only unforgivable sin, there is at least one sin that is worse than abortion. and i would think letting hate overtake your heart, or intentionally committing acts of blasphemy against God, would be worse.

at least people who perform abortions, or have them performed, probably lie to themselves that they’re doing something for ‘the good’. many of them probably do it for money or convenience, but some probably do it for ‘the principle’ of the matter - not allowing a ‘tyrannic organization’ like the church tell women what they can do with their bodies.

Abortion is 100% wrong if you ask me. Now, I figure that the worst sin is blaspheming against the Holy Spirit, since that is unforgivable (and thus the worst, since all other sins are forgivable). But, I do not mean to downplay the severity of abortions by any means.

I am 100% PRO-LIFE.

I don’t believe that abortion/murder is the greatest sin.
The greatest of all sins is a sin against the Holy Spirit, of which Jesus said there would be no forgiveness.

I agree with the previous two posters that it is terrible, but forgivable (as all sins are except against the HS). I voted the top one but wanted to say it was a sin on a level of murder and therefore deserves more punishment than some lesser sins. Would you say one murder is worse than another eg the murder of a child? Surely to do so infers that some life is more precious than others which is not what I am prepared to believe. Just a thought…

I would yes because I believe abortion is always wrong even in cases of rape and incest. Except I didn’t feel comfortable saying it’s the worst of all sins.

Raping and killing a child is a horrible sin.
Beating a child to death is a horrible sin.
There are many horrible sins (unforunately) and abortion is among them.

Abortion is a sin! It is killing an innocent child… what people don’t understand about this confuses me!

God Bless–JMJ
