I haven’t been to a TLM in over 5 years. I think I need to get out my Missal next time. Or maybe not – it’s awesome anyway. I enjoyed chatting about the differences with my 4 year old (we watch the daily Mass sometimes). We all love it so much, so why don’t our parishes get on board?
All in good time, RitaM, all in good time! Most of us have been waiting for 40 years to get to this point.

The only “problem” I see is that this thing was SO gorgeous, so perfect, so magnificent . . .

The average parish cannot even come close: not even with a lot of practice and the best of intentions.

But the real truth is that even if parochial music can’t come close, and even if a parish cannot afford such beautiful vestments, the things that made this Mass truly beautiful don’t cost a DIME: preparation, precision, care, reverence and dignity . . .

NOT A DIME.

I was watching, off and on, at online at work. Got very busy, but I could hear the lovely chanting! I missed a good part of it, but I’ll be watching tonight!

The greatest thing this side of heaven.

When will it Re-air?

and also is this what will be airing over the radio today as the "Daily " Mass?

I feel like a true renewal has taken place in the Church! The Mass was glorious, despite “someone” trying to derail the satellite feed during the Consecration! It touched some deep part of my soul that said that this is the way we should glorify God…being that I was so little when the NO started being used, it brought back glimpses for me of my own early spiritual life as a child.

Now, I feel like I have a lot of homework and catching up to do!🙂

The remnants of Hurricane Humberto are over north Alabama. No doubt heavy rainfall had something to do with it. What I saw reminded me of my childhood. It was so nice to hear the bells rung properly during the Consecration.

LOVED IT!! LOVED IT!!! LOVED IT!!!

I had tears in my eyes, too. THIS is what we have been missing.

Frankly I do not think most churches will do the Solemn High Mass every Sunday. I think the Low Mass would work fine and a High Mass maybe once a month. Save the Solemn High Mass for special Feasts.

I need some help with the rubrics –
(a) What was the sub-deacon holding in front of his face during the Canon? I was watching on-line and my video feed was jumpy.
(b) what is with the biretta’s (and cowls from the Franciscans!)coming on and off during parts of the Mass?

BTW, if anyone else lives in the Archdiocese of Washington, have you seen anything from the Chancellery on the MP or more parishes offering the Mass of John XXIII?

The Sub-Deacon is Holding the Humiral Veil- Lots of Symbolism too much to type

and the Birettas were coming off during certin parts of the Creed and Gloria… and whenever the name "Jesus / Jesu Christi " Was said

The amazing thing is. We’ve only gotten a taste of the treasures of the Church with this beautifully done liturgy.

Hopefully, we will be treated eventually to a Pontifical Mass of a Bishop done that well and then when we get to pull out all of the stops.

A Solemn Papal Mass with the Holy Father being carried in to St. Peter’s on the Sedia Gestatoria while wearing the papal crown and being flanked by the honor guard and the silver and gold flambeaux.

Not true. Yes it will take a lot of hard work but the Latin Mass I go to has a High Mass and a Low Mass each Sunday. The music is beautiful and the total congregation of the Latin community is only around 500. There is also a daily Mass.

I’m old. Even though I wasn’t Catholic, I remember “Tobacco auction” Masses where priests were stumbling all over themselves to get out of the place as fast as they could. It’s human nature. And I STILL say that the backbone of the beauty is in the reverence and deportment of the clergy and servers. It’s much more about how you approach it than about your furniture.

I’m watching it online right now.
And this sermon is absolutely fantastic!!! 👍

Anyone else watching?
If you read this after it finishes, what did you think?
I watched AND recorded it. I *soooo *wish they would also air a *Low Mass *TOO, so I could watch it over and over and get accustomed to it!

It was lovely. I cried.

I hope my wife is home by 6 tonight, so we can watch it together. She is Byzantine and has only been to the NO of the Roman rite with me. I think she thinks the Eastern rite is more reverent. I want her to see this. Yes, my pride is showing a bit, but I’m Roman Catholic!

Also Joe and anyone else

Check out this Sermon that discribes the Solmen High Mass it will answer many of your questions:

ChristopherM–

THANK YOU! Wow, I’m 52 and did not know that! Either I was asleep during religion classes or it was never taught. One quote from the Priest really stuck with me:
What we do in here [Church], determines what goes on out there.
That ought to be framed and put over each door to a Church and I don’t care if it is Catholic, Protestant or Jewish.

I am old enough to remember the Latin Masses also. And you are right, there were times when the Mass was rushed. I went to a Catholic grade school and we had to go to Mass every day. However that was then. This is now. Things are different. Having the Mass “banned” for all these years has brought the reverence back. Maybe this was God’s plan all along.I don’t believe you will see “Tobacco auction” Masses ever again.
