Ok, I’ll bite a 5 month old thread.

JPII - he’s also a fellow Pollock. 😃
(I’m part Polish/German/Italian)

John Paul II brought me back, but no one helped me stay here and understand the Church as well as Scott Hahn.

Honorable mention to Karl Keating and Mother Angelica.

Pius XII. Saved 860,000 from Jews from the hands of the Nazis.

Jimmy, karl or whoever worked like mad to get the forums back online

I voted for other, not to eliminate any of those already named from my list of great Catholics, but because I have to put the name of G. K. Chesterton into the mix.

Fulton Sheen thought him the greatest apologist of the 20th century. Chesterton was named “defender of the faith” by Pope Pius XI for his works Orthodoxy and The Everlasting Man (as I recall those were the books that earned him that title). People like C. S. Lewis and others too numerous to name were influenced by his prolific writings. You’ve got to love that kind of Catholic!
I second that. GK Chesterton was indeed a “colossal genius” and his brilliant writing played a large role in helping me decide to become a Roman Catholic last year. He was a true intellectual heavyweight, respected and feared by academic peers, who presented orthodox Christianity in such a way that it could be seen as both rational and desirable. Thank you Mr. Chesterton!

Unfair poll! 😛 Can’t choose just one!!! Love all of them, and more! St. Pio, St. Gianna, on and on…😃

I have a few of them. But,for the poll, it would be Saint Philomena.
👍

Here are some of my other Catholic hero’s/heroines:

Mother Teresa
Joan of Arc
Saint Francis of Assisi

Dorothy Day - she was devout, down to earth, and committed to living the Gospel.

My Grandfather, he was an old school devoutly Irish Catholic man. A real role model for me even though he’s been gone nearly 20 years. Everything I try to do in my spiritual life mimics the example my Grandfather set.

I can’t choose just one person…so I picked “other”.

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati- JPII called him the “Man of the Beatitudes.” How about that for a compliment!
They are all my heroes.

BTW, Blessed Frassati is also known as one of the most handsomest saints in heaven.🙂

STEPHEN COLBERT!
Catholic and from South Carolina…what more could I want?😃
