my goodness, it is simply common sense that Christian belief has nothing to do with suicide.
First, inJESUS reply to my question was very short and very decisive by saying : “no one. He gave His life.” to my simple question : "Who killed Jesus (Catholic’s G-d)? "

Second, Christianity too comes in different/thousands of flavours with different view/faiths. So, I thought, Catholicism of our times may have changed it’s views regarding the death of her Catholic God. As such, now the current belief, in the words of a Catholic preacher of this forum (inJESUS) is “He (Catholic God) gave His life”.

Now what a person, who has little or no knowledge at all about current/past Catholicism, will deduce from this short answer/reply by inJESUS?

Obviously a typical/or natural implication of inJESUS’s reply would be: what I described in detail in my previous post.

Lastly, do not forget David Koresh, Heaven’s Gate, Order of the Solar Temple, Peoples Temple (in the Jonestown incident) and the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God. David Koesh and this recent one:
Russian doomsday [Orthodox Christian] sect threatens mass suicide
Thursday November 15, 2007
Guardian Unlimited

To locals in the Russian village of Nikolskoye they were simply a group of eccentric Christian believers. And when 29 members of the sect abruptly vanished last month, villagers assumed they had packed up and gone.
In fact, the religious doomsday cult had taken up residence in a remote underground cave. They had decided to barricade themselves inside until May 2008 - the date when their spiritual leader told them the world was going to end.

“They don’t have a name as such. They don’t regard themselves as a sect but refer to themselves as ‘the chosen ones’. They also say that they are representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church.”

We all know that it was the Romans who killed Jesus. It is abundantly clear in scripture that he was tried in a Roman court, condemned by a Roman Procurator, and executed by Roman legionaires. Had the Jews killed Jesus, as has been insisted for ages by anti-Semitic groups, there would have been no crucifixion since the Jewish method of capital punishment is stoning. However, since the Catholic Church is based in Rome, we can’t put forth the Romans as Christ killers since we would then be criticising the Church as well. So much easier to just blame the Jews and chase them from pillar to post across the European continent for centuries.

Then you haven’t been reading the Gospels. Pilate as we all know did not want to kill Jesus. He was looking for excuses not to. He even gave a choice to the Jews, either Jesus or Barrabbas. THEY CHOSE BARRABBAS. The Jews yelled crucify Him over a 100 times. They turned their backs on Him. They left Him there to die. Pilate over and over said he found NO GUILT IN THIS MAN, if the Jews yelled free Him, He wouldn’t of died.
Of course it was the plan to die for us, but Pilate really had no choice…This does not excuse him of giving an order, but Pilate was intimidated by Caesar.
The only one, the only person who stood up for Christ, and she was a pagan, was Claudia, wife of Pontius Pilate.

Again, it was all our sins that neccessitated Jesus being crucified, but not everyone called for his death. Holy Scripture very clearly tells us who bore that responsibility “for you also have suffered the same things from your own coutrymen, even as they have from the Jews, Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and the prophets,” I Thessalonians 2:15.
The first time I ever heard the claim that "we all killed Christ" was from an anti-Catholic Evangelical.

Who was BARABBAS? And what was his actual name, by the way?

WE all, by our sins, killed Our Lord Jesus, why the question if you don’t believe?

I think I’ve stepped into the Twilight Zone on this thread.Jesus said no one could take His life away. so why don’t some believe that.? To start pointing fingers at this time is really bizarre. If we don’t see each of us a putting one more stripe on his back then you should start reexamining your Christianity. Each nail ,each blow to our Lord was do to us -.Are you so pure you don’t need redemption that people have to be blamed for what is essentially our fault our sin?If we don’t look in the mirror say"guilty" or don’t see in our reflection something of the anti-christ then- honey you ain’t looking hard enough. To cast blame on others than ourselves is to negate Christ’s redemptive suffering. He died to save who-? that other guy- or that poor shmoo down the street. But not me -‘there I put the blame on someone else’s back and now Pilate like I can wash my hands of my own guilt because I shuffled it off my responsibility as Pilate shuffled off his responsibility’.Is this what Christ redemptive death means to some people- passing the buck.? Pathetic!!

If you are looking for the perfect Lamb to sacrifice, why not the perfect High Priest to do it, God Himself. Not a Jew hateful to him or a brutish Roman who didn’t understand who he was.

God killed him before his legs could be broken.

Psalms 34:20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

And so no man could boast that he stopped the Messiah.

Isaiah 42:4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

Jesus trusted God to kill him and bring him back to life so he could himself be made High Priest to us and make atonement for our sins.

in an aother thread a poster said:
The topic has drifted to “Who killed Jesus”. I am least interested in this topic. Whoever did it, did it well and every one is happy to do it. The Jews are happy that they killed the man called Jesus son of Mary. The christians are also happy that jesus died for them, for their sins.

I remember reading bible NT where Pilate did not intend to kill Jesus and he washed his hands to show that he was not responsible for the blood of innocent man Jesus. At that time the Jews shouted that the blood of Jesus be on them and their children. So the Jews of that time accepted the killing.

So why are we looking for the killer now when the Jews accepted the responsibility.
Is there any learned Catholic who disagree with the contents of this above post?

Oh yeah- I sure there is at least one. IF Somebody "murdered " Jesus that means he didn’t do it freely - if he didn’t do it freely-then his suffering meant nothing- If his suffering meant nothing then we can’t be redeemed if we’re not redeemed- oh hell- you know where that leads us to! 😦

His actual name was Barrabbas. Pilate, who did not want to kill Jesus, offered a murderer instead to the Jews. But the Jews chose Barrabbas. THEY CHOSE BARRABBAS over our Lord and Savior.

I think what we’re seeing is a number of people attempting to reinterpret Holy Scripture in such a way as to make it more suitable and acceptable for the times we live in. So by the same token, if we should ignore what the Gospels tell us regarding who was responsible for calling for the crucifixion of Jesus, because that leads to anti-Semitism, perhaps we should also ignore those passages in the Bible that condemn homosexuality, because afterall that so called demonising of people leads to violence against homosexuals. And maybe we should ignore those passages that tell wives to obey their husbands since that kind of thinking may lead to spousal abuse, and then their’s the passages about witches the occult etc that some believe have led to a history of persecution of Wiccans, so those may nead to be ignored as well.

Let people read the gospel of St. John where he tells you who killed Jesus, then people will understand.

Please quote your scripture, that his actual name was just BARRABBAS, and nothing else.

And what does BARRABBAS mean, in English?

You mean Jews of Jesus (Catholics; God) time choose a murderer(Barrabbas), over your Catholic God? How and why?

If Catholic God’s mission on this earth was basically/ultimately to die on cross for Catholic sinners’ sins, then why a Cangroo court or a Roman [Pilate] offered a murderer to kill him instead simply because he did not find him guilty?

I believe that Jesus may be Barabbas, and that Barabbas was the character of a different charge against Jesus.

Perhaps God gave Jesus one last temptation to avoid martyrdom and take a plea deal.
  1. Plead guilty as Barabbas a nut and be set free, but then discredited among men forevermore.
  2. Plead guilty as Jesus the Messiah and die, but trust God to come through to raise you in glory.
So Jesus trusted God and chose #2 and God came through for him.

Also that would solve the mystery of the “Jewish tradition” of setting prisoners free. It was no strange tradition, just a common plea bargain like we have today.

1)Christ died - God never ceased to be during this period.
2)He was setenced to death by the Roman government by the request of various individual Jews and local authorities.
3) Individual Roman soldiers nailed him to the Cross.
4) Christ’s death was an offering to God and this offering has the power to forgive us of our sins, both past and future.
Here, since Christ= Catholics’ God, then, I can re-write what you said above:

1)Catholics’ God died - Catholics’ God never ceased to be during this period.
2)Catholics’ God was setenced to death by the Roman government by the request of various individual Jews and local authorities.
3) Individual Roman soldiers nailed Catholics’ God to the Cross.
4) Catholics’ God’s death was an offering to Catholics’ God and this offering has the power to forgive us of our sins, both past and future.

So, does all this make any sense to a person who has atleast common sense?
