Waste of good time I could spend with my husband, my horses, in my garden, in the bible, or saying a rosary. How many times do they have to tell the same story? And whats up with that little troll guy - Yoga? 😃

I love it though I seem to be getting into it towards the end! When the movie opens, I hope to see it during the first week. Since I work on Friday and Saturday night, I would not see it until Sunday or Monday, the nights I have off. Or I may go to an afternoon showing during my days off.

Am I a fan of “Star Wars on this forum”? Not at all, this is a Catholic forum. If I want Science Fiction, I’ll go to a forum somewhere else.

Only kidding. Feel free to talk about Star Wars here 🙂

And yes, I am a fan but not a big enough fan to see the final film before the DVD is reduced to practically nothing in the Woolworths sale at the end of next year. Or a big enough fan to watch the films again and again. How can I do that? - my wife has recently bought the first 6 series of Stargate on DVD so there’s no time for Star Wars here!

I love Star Wars…it is the only Sci-Fi I can stomach…I think they are great movies…on a side note, I love that new commercial where the guy is doing a Pepsi scratch off and it says he has won 1,000,000 dollars…then his doorbell rings and it is Darth Vader who says, “Jason, I am your Father” (I believe he calls him Jason…and if anyone has seen the older Star Wars movies, they will see the humor in this)…and the guy says, “No you aren’t, you just want my money”…then Darth Vader pauses and says, “Jason, I am your uncle”…but the guy slams the door on him while he is saying that last line…I thought it was hilarious.

:rotfl: I do love the films. But I do agree that I could find “better” things to do. Horses, yes, bible, rosary, yes. I would prefer to spend time with my wife, instead of your husband. Don’t get me wrong , I’m sure your husbands a nice guy. One last thing…it’s YODA! 😃

Bad dialogue, bad actors, a plot centering around a ridiculously simplistic duality . . . my, how I love Star Wars!

I do enjoy the movies - always have - and will probably see #3 on the first or second weekend.

I was very distubed, however, by a national magazine interview George Lucas did at the time The Empire Strikes Back was released. In that interview, Lucas revealed that he was a New Age practioner - he really did believe all that stuff about an “all-powerful force” which could be accessed by anyone who had the spark.

What better way is there to draw our kids away from Jesus than to package New Age beliefs glamourously? As a 20-year-old in 1979, The Force was VERY appealing to me and my friends.

Consequently, when the original trilogy was re-released in 1997 and I was a parent, I had serious discussions with my kids about understanding the difference between spiritual truth and New Age fantasy before I let them see it.

I’m a huge fan! I already got my tickets for the 12:01 am showing thursday morning. Work is going to be very dificult later that day!

As long as Jar-Jar dies in this one I will be happy. If Darth wipes the slate clean of the first two movies all will be well in the world…

Hello All,

I love “Star Wars”! I have since I was a kid. Along with “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Godfather”, it is one of the greatest film series ever. It seems a lot of Catholics take a “Holier than Thou” attitude towards Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Which bothers me. I grew up loving Sci-Fi and Fantasy. From my experiences, Sci-Fi and Fantasy are excellent ways to get deep philosophical issues across to an audience. J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Arthur C. Clarke, George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, Gene Roddenberry, and George Lucas have brought us some of the most interesting and thought provoking stories.

Some of us seem to think because someone is not a Bible Thumping Catholic, that their point of view is not worth considering. Well feel badly when someone writes us of because we’re Catholic. We shouldn’t behave that way either. When it comes to the gentlemen listed above, their work delves deeply into philosophical and social issues that behoove us to ponder. Besides, they are still kick butt stories.

God is and must always be is the center of our life. But there is nothing wrong with having fun in life and pondering the great questions of life. Remember, if C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien hadn’t spent time discussing life’s great mysteries, we might not have gotten great works like Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, and The Chronicles of Narnia. “Star Wars” is great and I’m going to see “Revenge of the Sith” at 3:00AM!

Tolkien’s characters inhabit a world of of detailed and elaborate languages and history and geography; it is a three-dimensional world, which lives even when one is not reading the books. The world of “Star Wars” is a world of cardboard characters & formulaic violence, which is instantly forgettable and instantly forgotten once one leaves the cinema. There is no reason for the characters to have their names - in Tolkien’s world, names mean something. Tolkien’s creations are mythopoetic; those of Star Wars, are artificial, and they show it.

LIKE star wars? Nah…I love them.

As a child…I WAS Han Solo!

“Not really. I used to bullseye womprate in my T-16 back home. There not much more than two meters.” - Luke Skywalker, Episode IV

Good thing, I don’t have to worry about spending time with a woman. Thank God I’m single.

Amen! If Jar-Jar is allowed to live I will walk out. What would be great if Vader says “you have always annoyed me”…slice! I would cheer!

Big Star Wars fan here, although not a big enough fan to have to see Ep. 3 the very first day. We’ll probably see it next weekend, though.

And Jar Jar does not bother me and never has. Why do so many dislike Jar Jar? Stop the hate! 😃 😉
