For me, a good example of that would be some of Jo Chen’s art of Runaways. The characters look like they’re straight out of a Square-Enix game.

Now if only they had the entire series drawn that way. I’ll definitely buy it alongside manga. >w<
I love all types of art but yes, there are some bad comic artists out there.Rob Liefield isn’t very talented and oh my gosh what on earth IS that abomination?!!

Oh. Oh! That looks painful. Tsk, tsk, steroids :tsktsk:. Then there are artists like Greg Land who literally just trace off of pornogaphy and magazines. His art is a sight to behold it is so horrible.

However, there are TONS of very good comic book artists out there. Brian Bolland, Dave Gibbons, Todd McFarlane (you can say he is Rob Liefiel done right although as a creator, he’s talentless), Jim Lee and Alex Ross. Seriously, look at Brian Bolland’s work. Just, look at it:

img11.hostingpics.net/pics/290189brian_bolland_batman_GK_04.jpg Tell me that doesn’t make your jaw drop. Its sad LW that you don’t like comic books very much. If you pick the right books, ou won’t have to skim through wikipedia to know the full story because superheero mythology is rather complicated. Hell, after Avatar the Last airbender, the Batman mythos is lsited as the most trope overdosed page on TV Tropes. Although seriously, the Dark Knight of the comics and the animated series from the 90’s is SOO much more diffirent and appealing than the Dark Knight of the Nolan or Burton films. He’s less pretentious.

Yup!

That is a great example.

Her art is a good balance between stylized and realistic. The trick is to maintain a consistent level of detailing and avoiding unnecessary lines.

Blessings!

When it comes to comics, I prefer real comics to recolors since the latter can constitute copyright infringements.

Recolors?

Like when people colors a manga page for their releases of translations?

Blessings!

🙂

Is Digimon permanently done?.Is it true that there’s going to be no more episodes after episode 79-ish of season 6 “Xros wars” and that the franchise is totally finished and defunct now?.Will they at least be able to give “Xros wars” an english language dub and release?

That is not a recolor.
I’m talking about coloring over an already colored template and then taking it as one’s own.

Aaah, the horrible recolors that populate photobucket and deviantART!

Blessings!
It is an insult that most recolors come from anime. It is an affront to art!
For instance, the most recolored character in this world is Sonic the Hedgehog.

Ironically, styles like that are the reason why I don’t like Dragonball. 😛

I have to admit, I give McFarlane a lot of credit for some of his monster designs.
Yup!

That is a great example.

Yep oh and a bit more detail to the eyes.

Here are some other pieces that really show a lot of anime influence in her artwork:

Now if only the content was like this. Reading it would be a blast! X3

Don’t get me wrong, I love anime. It’s just that recolors are insults to art!

You don’t liek Dragonball either LW? Its not that I hate it, its jsut that I don’t care about it at all. Used to have fun watching Dragonball Z as a kid but now, its just an anime with nothing but fighting in it. Atleast Bleach has intresting conversations and character development. Hear its in its final arc now.

Hey Lost Wanderer, I don’tmean to sound rude but, since I know you love manga,do you have a problem with their fight scenes? Even if they have excellent art, I can never tell whats going on exactly. I’ve experienced it with every single manga I have ever come across even though they are few admittedly. Everything is either too close up or obscured by words. Theres a double splash page in one early volumeof One Piece where a canonball hits an inn.The art was good but was it so necessary to obscure half of such an explosion with a big fat kaboom?Like seriously, the fight scenes in one Piece volume 2 were so incomprehensible they made my eyes hurt. Thats a bad thing to be honest, because I love manga as a meduim. There are comics with good fight scenes and bad ones but from the (very) few manga I’ve read, I haven’t seen a single good fight scene. What do you think Lost Wanderer? Are there manga where the fights are truly epic and well choreographed? Like Mahou Sensei Negima? To be honest, I’ve never experienced this bad choreography stuff in a single anime. Just saying and asking.

Am currently reading Evangelion RE-TAKE (censored though as I hear it does have some pornography now and then). It looks interesting but the fight between Unit 01 and Zeruel is what made me write all this. Alos, I have to change my mind on what my favorite anime is. Elfen Lied is still one of ym top 5 favorite anime and works of fiction ever but, Evangelion, be it the original series or the Rebuildfilms has just so many interesting characters, ideas and situations. What Watchmen is to comic books,Evangelion is to anime.Just really.

Also, I’m really enjoying Hayate the Combat Butler. I watch it subbed on crunchyroll.

Actually, I’m not reading RE-TAKE anymore. Don’t waste your time with it. SPOILER: Rei commits suicide early on because she’s jelous of Shinji and Asuka getting together. Please, the real Rei wouldn’t commit suicide for THAT. And why indeed does Shinji have so much affection for Asuka who treats him poorly? I just gave up on it on it after reading that.

Hayate FTW! That’s the show that got me back into anime!

You see, I never even cared much for Evangelion to begin with. 😛

Also, guys, here are some of my recent figure pre-orders:

The art was always my main beef with it. I don’t care much if there’s a lot of fight scenes (heck BRS was full of 'em). I just don’t like characters that are all Arnie with the “Ooooh look at me, I’m supah-chahrged with beeg mahscles”. 😛

I want a balanced roster full of bishies, punks, light-builders, feminine bods, tomboys, lolis, anthros, and a fairer male-female ratio.
Atleast Bleach has intresting conversations and character development. Hear its in its final arc now.
As with a lot of manga I used to read. Negima is long concluded. Air Gear is about to end any week now. Naruto looks like it’s heading in that direction too. Heck, I went and started reading Soul Eater again but it’s starting to feel that way there as well.

What is going on here!? D:

I’m still running out of titles to keep reading! DX What-do-I-do-what-do-I-do-what-do-I-DOOOO!?!?!?!? runs around chibi panic mode

heaves
So far, this has been my reading list:

Fairy Tail
Soul Eater
Ao no Exorcist
Ubel Blatt
Medaka Box
Air Gear

I’ve also considered including some already concluded manga but have never finished reading such as:

Flame of Recca
Rave Master
Ichigo 100%

Man, I gotta get a list and put it somewhere I won’t forget. It’s hard to keep track with so much stuff in my head. -.-

I would actually say that One Piece is more of an exception to the rule. The fight scenes in other manga are definitely more fluid and easier follow. At the very least, Negima takes the cake and while Fairy Tail is a bit messy at times, I admire the detail of many of the characters signature moves.

One Piece though… the art lone kinda turns me off. The story’s good but it takes a while for me to digest with the art. Heck, it’s like me reading Runaways right now (had a guy who managed to lend me some).
In case you can’t tell, I love me some good figurines, heh. 😛
HOW DO YOU AFFORD ALL THIS!?!? grabs you by the collar TELL ME UR SECRETZ NAO!!! DX

If I worked harder, I could make those with platicine which to b honest, for an ameteur,I’m rather good at. I just have problems smoothing things. Am currently making a figurine of Unit 01. When its finished,I’mposting it here. And no, I’m not saying this because I have a big ego and I want people to admire me… OK, maybe I do want people to admire my work a little bit, seeing as I’m an amateur.

Dragon Ball wasn’t like that at all. Dragonball Z on the other hand…

http://oadafac.com/oadafacimages/cat3.jpg

Thats my reaction to that image. I don’t remember Dragonball Z being so, disproportionate! I mean dude, the chest and shoulders are like five to six times wider than his head. On the other hand, the truly worst artist I can think of is one called Greg Land. He jsut copies and traces of pornographic magazine and even some manga. THeres even a website dedicated to finding and matching the pictures he copied off from. He has the ability but is too damn lazy. I won’t link to the website because some entries areobviously NSFW, although nothing truly explicit is shown. Its mostly scantily clad woman he copies off from but still, its still wrong and not to mention pathethic.
