[Here I go without having my question about Gundam answered.I swear at times I feel like I monopolize a thread a/o can be the one to end it]
How my fanfic started: one night I was tossing and turning thinking about how much my appreciation for Dragon balll grew after looking very in depth to how it influenced the whole
shonen genre.I felt really compelled to write a fanfic with Goku Jr. in the* Hero’s legacy* era a century after GT.Sort of

.See back when I started that I just basically wrote down loads of plot points and descriptions of the characters.Even now that’s all I got. It’s not like I’ve sat down and written any storries. But both my plot points and character descriptions have come a LONG way since then and have grown a lot.
See me doing this came out various motives. One of them was giving the DB world the development it deserves.I mean IMO there’s some good ideas out there that can be used to tell a nice story.Someone just has to take things more seriously and give good explanation so as to add depth NOT as is so commonly said “
darker and grittier”.Being “
dark and gritty” when done good is the result of giving something depth not a superficialy shallow aesthetic.
I am
SO SICK:banghead: of how ever since Z,humans have been considered as nothing more than frailily weak cannon and pummel fodder for the villians.I’ve noticed that
SSSSSOOOO many ppl whether it’s in youtue comments, fanfics, fan art, vids etc are lost in the sci-fi aspect of the series The name of the series is
Dragon ball** NOT** “
Saiyans super fight, fight, fight power aliens forever!”:dts:.This okay webcomic makes my point
dragonball-multiverse.com/en/accueil.html highlights my point.
The thing that they are SO “
MIND BLIND”-ly lost in is the Saiyans:a species that for goodness sake were** functionally extinct** from the moment they were introduced!

.To so many it’s all about the lengthy yelling, power charging and hair changes so much so that you see fan fics with the human characters as Saiyans. I mean honestly ppl!,you can tell that even flippin Toriyama expresses regret about this and it’s very likely the reason for at least making the *Kaio-ken *accessible to all humans (and Neo Namekians) in Dragon ball online and making the “
New Crane school” founded by Tien with how it teaches that even the most powerful baddies can be beaten with a powerful and concentrated enough spiritual attack along with the “
New Turtle school” founded by Krillen with it’s teaching that even the most powerful opponent can be taken out with
teamwork. That is such an important part of many
shonens.I mean heck, even the two 1/2 Saiyans Goten and Trunks apparently just end up making a swordmanship school called the
Kikoukenjutsu sword School.
The premise always has to be about/revolve around
THE DRAGON BALLS.And I decided to take DB back to it’s fantasy roots this way.Finding out about Dragon ball online changed everything. It takes places 200 yrs after the end of Z with other ppl’s like Neo-Namekians (Namekians went to Earth b/c apparently they got there planet destroyed…agian),Yardrats and the Majin descendants of Buu.The principal villians are demons named Miira and Towa.Miira is trying to get some of Goku’s DNA,by time travelling so Dende enlists “time patrol Trunks” help to gather some ppl to stop them.
Now right there was the ideal opportunity to actually develop a story that can grow a spine and separate itself from the previous series for the sake of carrying the DB franchise
forward. But* nnnooooo *it’s the usual obsessing over the past, instead. Thus partly out of frustration with this and thinking that even I actually do something better:yup: I took the stuff that I wrote for the
Hero’s legacy era a century forward. What’s interesting is that from a chronological perspective GT could have still taken place and the stuff from DBOnline can still happen nigh 200 yrs later. The only conflicting point is that in the year 790 in the DBO timeline it says that Buu wins 2nd place the world tournament and not Majuub like in GT (
dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline#Dragon_Ball_Online). I address GT by essentially dismissing in my own way but NOT by pretending it never happened like what many ppl wish for.
After some thinking I came up with something. In fiction magic by it’s very nature can be explained as all-encompassing and integral to things b/c of the whole big mystery in understanding it.I concluded then that the one kind of human that could feasibly beat a Saiyan regardless of what level he is at is—
a sorcerer martial artist.
I could DEFINITELY have some fun and do some neat things with such a type of character. What’s more I intially decided that he would be like the one who gives a common persons perspective on all the fantastical happenings of the DB world. That’s the spirit I worked under at first when regarding this character but he’s changed a lot since then and personally I don’t really think he’s like that.Another example from fiction of a common man seeing some supernatural stuff and giving his commentary on it that occurred to my is the “
the divine comedy”.It goes well with this IMO b/c in DB there’s definitely elements of Bangsian fantasy what with it’s own versions of the afterlife.So I named the character after the Japanese translation of Dante Alighieri’s first name;
Durante. To be totally honest I’ve developed him more then the field leader of this series Goku’s descendant (who I’ve named Gojiq) as well as Asabi( a villainess turned ally) the same way how in Digimon 02 even though Davis was technically spotlighted as the successor to Tai it was TK and Ken who got more development.
I decided to name this continuation which is inspired by DBOnline,DBI–Dragon ball Impact.Okay now for what’s the hard part for me.I don’t mind giving a rundown of my plot without to many details thrown in as well.I haven’t gone through the trouble of dividing the stories into “
sagas” yet at least. But given the way how things interconnect so much I’m not sure if I can do that since it seems a bit arbitrary to me at this point.A few weeks ago when I finalized the plots of this first series by seeing how they interconnect using like a chain of Venn diagrams I noticed a trend in what’s roughly the setting of the story arcs so I’ll just go by those in the mean time. Also I’m sorry if I talk about this as if it were actual show but that’s how it seems to work best in my mind.
