Who loves anime here?

Well I finally got sucked into all the hype and watched the first episode of Sword Art Online.

I gotta say, it’s as I expected. I am both completely absorbed but at the same time, completely uneasy. I generally don’t like anti-MMO themes. -.-

Next month the next season of Seitokai no Ichizon is coming out (Student’s Council Discretion) with Kurumu Sakurano… ^___^

SAO isn’t bad but it’s not spectacular either. Nice character design. The premise is of course absurd. But it’s one of those sub-culture animes, like Higashi no Eden (about NEETs). It has some sweet moments though…

Who doesn’t feel uneasy about it?
 
While we’re talking about figures, I’d like to mention that one of the most disturbing things about some of the figures I have is the ones I’ve found out have various castoffable parts.

Not talking about taking off a jacket or cape or something. I’m talking about skirts.

I have a few, but I display them with everything on, of course.

Then don’t take them off. Real life people also have cast-offable parts, just don’t remove them and you’ll be fine, unless for medical reasons - the person’s drenched in organophosphate insecticide or you’re married and want to have a kid.

Is there some plot twist in that anime?

BTW in the “novels” the two characters actually sleep together at some stage (in the virtual world). I hear this often repeated, so I’m repeating it here. 😉

You know maybe I’ll watch that alongside SAO. It’s a pity though that the latter doesn’t seem as popular (I’ve only watched a few clips but they were hilarious XD).

Well it’s still a big hit around here despite that. I’m with you on the character design though. I just wish the premise was a bit more… hmm, MMO-friendly?

Oh my word, I saw this: Shinsekai yori Ep 01. It’s pretty dark. The beginning starts with a guro setting showing psychics attack and kill innocent people for no reason. Next fast forward 1000 years where Japan is back deep in Shinto/Buddhist culture and a young girl acquires her “adult” spirit. She then undergoes a purification ceremony before joining a psychic school - where a classmate who just wasn’t as good as the rest disappears. Pretty nasty but great soundtrack (instrumental). Not sure if I should watch something more cheerful instead and drop this.
 
Guys, I want to join in your discussion but what should I talk about I don’t know what you’re talking about! I’m not saying it’s bad, far from it in fact but why does everyone always discuss these very new anime? I love visiting old stuff and talking about!

I dropped Trigun as I sort of ruined the experience by reading some very sad spoilers long before I started watching it and the fact that it didn’t appeal to me very much and couldn’t take it anymore. However, from the 12 episodes I saw and reading the plot on wikipedia, it was very, very good as in I could see why it is called a masterpiece. Overall, Id give those episodes an 8 for excellence. Currently, I’m putting off watching any other anime until my Baccano! DVD box set arrives so that I could watch it next week. Can’t wait!

Say LostWanderer, have you ever read Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple? If you haven’t I really, REALLY suggest you read it because it’s the only manga I can say deserves to be called the spiritual successor to Rurouni Kenshin it is THAT good. The only problem as I said before is the constant and sometimes downright utterly perverted fanservice that the manga ahs but despite that, it’s still very good; it’s one of those manga where the fanservice doesn’t distract from the overall experience and having read 380 chapters as of now, I honestly give it a full 10/10. I’m suggesting it you because you love shonen manga and anime like One Piece and Naruto.

By the way, is One Piece really that good? It looks interesting but not my cup of tea. What about Naruto?

Also, O’m going to stop putting up any top ten most favorite anime or manga ever as in my opinion, any good anime is good in it’s own right and any great or very great anime make up what I’d like to call the pantheon of anime. However, if I were to lsit my absolute msot favorite anime and manga ever, the ones that affected me the most and entertained me the most, they’d be:

Rurouni Kenshin (both anime and manga for affecting my life so much and for being a great story all around. It really is the only one I’d call my most favorite anime ever over and above everything else).
Neon Genesis Evangelion (Just an all around great story and also influenced my view on life a lot).
FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood (just an all around very, very good story and one that hit all the right marks for me).
Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple (Anime-blasphemy. Manga- very, very good story with great characters, philosophy and fight scenes).
Elfen Lied (the first anime that made me cry and one I consider very underrated and misunderstood).
**20th Century Boys **(Greatest work of fiction of the decade. Naoki Urasawa. Nuff said).
Hayate the Combat Butler (the anime and manga that made me realize the true value of friendship, being a nice guy and having friends instead of being a jerkass pretending to work alone).
Monster (again, Naoki Urasawa but Monster did give me more insight on the humanity of villians and human nature).

Runners up: FullMetal Panic for being the funniest thing I have ever seen in a very long time. I almost died laughing, no joke. School Days for being the most atrocious piece of trash I ever laid my eyes upon.

Say guys, am I boring? I’m just asking:).
