Ouch, I kinda know how that feels. (Did you link that here by any chance?) I have my own but I’m not so sure I should link it here, much less even mention to anyone I write it. It’s a major M:tG crossover fic mixing elements I picked out BlazBlue, Air Gear, Kamen Rider, Touhou, and even SAO. That, it’s heavy mature (hence the great risk I’m taking even talking about here >_<ll)

To both sidetrack and LW: just write what you want and feel. I love fanfiction and have read some in the past. Recently, I read an Ed, Edd and Eddy fanfic which was just GREAT. It felt exactly like the show felt and though it did have some sexual content, it was all tastefully done. The prose starts a bit dodgy at first but it becomes better. Truly one of the ebst things I ever read. Fanficiton I notice can really bring out a person’s talent and potential as long as said person is actually competent. Remember to always stay in character unless there is a reason not to.

Honestly Toriyama just admit loud and obnoxiously as you want to and can already about how you don’t give two bits about the Dragon ball series and sell it to someone who actually does care!.Like what even Lucas now recently did with Star Wars in actually stating that it’s been his universe for decades and he’s actually passed it on to the next generation of fans.Sure it won’t stop the* she-dogging *that mindless fans with rose-tinted eyeball implants say about how if the original maker isn’t doing the series it’s no good but at least it will be a marked and recorded fact which no one will be able to argue with for it’s legitimacy!.

I will say though that from what little I know (my sister followed it for a while BTW), I think I’d prefer being intimidated by little girl assassins compared to what worse things they could have been brainwashed into becoming. shivers
Awesome. I’ve been watching KR Wizard myself. Seriously, I haven’t enjoyed a Kamen Rider series like this since Den-O! The first, officially magic-based Rider has a plot with Den-O’s humor? PERFECT!!! XD
Yeah well, this one’s got smut and the character who engages in it is actually a protagonist (though of the anti-hero archetype). Still, I think my bigger problem is finding time to write it. sighs

It’s this pretty awesome manga. Not pretty deep but I just love the atmosphere and the visual themes. My favorite aspects of it are the ways it expresses the ideas of freedom using the symbols of the sky and the power to fly.By the way LW what’s *Air Gear *

Agreed 100%. Although as someone who doesn’t play video games, I am against violent videos games that are violent for no reason like Resident Evil or the Call of Duty games, I’m not against things like violence in the Elder Scroll’s games which are just epic and well written because the violence there gives to the story. I never played Pokemon though. When i was young, Digimon were the thing for me!Guys since there’s a fair chance that this thread will sooner or later be ending I’d like to suggest a discussion topic that I’d be joyful to see others chew the fat on and talk about here.
See for those of us who were still little kids when J-pop went more full-out global in the 90’s we’ve been plagued by derisions of Pokemon which I’m sure that for a considerable portion of us was one of our gate-ways into this media.While I agree that all the creatures in the series do lend themselves very easily to mass merchandizing I have disagreements with other critcisms.
One is those absurd comments of calling it demonic.I’ve even heard the gym bagdes being called talismins controlling them.I mean I’m pretty sure that throughout human history there’s been stories of ppl controlling or hanging out with mythical creatures that aren’t really considered (if at all) demonic like unicorns,phoenixes,fairies and griffins (there you at least got your Rapidish,Moltres,the Cleffa evolutions,Celebei and Ho-oh) so why call out these creatures which clearly have analogies to both mythical and IRL ones as all out demonic?.Here I gotta say a little bit on the origins of the mon genre,though.
It actually didn’t start with Pokemon.It started with Shin Megami Tensei games series which truly do have distrubing dystheistic and misotheistic connotations.That game in turn is based on a trilogy of novels called the “Digital Devil Story” about a high schooler who’s trying to get revenge on another student by making a demon summoning program but that goes heywire.Some of us might be familar with one of it’s spin-off series the Persona games.
Also in the 80’s wasn’t there a popular American toy and cartoon called “my pet monster” and that card collecting thing of that grotesque Cabbage patch kid parody the Garbage pail kids?.
Another ridicule that were prob.much more familar with is the comparisions to IRL animal bloodsports.For example there was the recent PETA website fiasco where they had a game portrayed Ash as cruel circus ring-master a few weeks back which I think mentions somehow to support team Plasma.PETA’s reputation aside,I was flippin astonished and though “your doing this only now?

However there is no doubt that unlike IRL creatures, Pokemon are a VERY hardy bunch.Some like the fighting types are actually hardy and pugnacious by nature (I mean why do you think Hitomonchan has boxing gloves for hands for goodness sake?).In the like 5 yrs that I watched consistently when I was little I can only remember 7/160-ish episodes that I watched where Pokemon are actually beaten to the point of having their well-being at risk.Early examples being Pikachu pecking by Spearow’s in the 1st episode and time that Misty’s Starmie actually got it’s middle punched and broken by a Graveller in that very old “school of hard knocks” episodes.Furthermore Satoshi Tajiri (the dude who made Pokemon) originally made Pokemon with the goal of sharing his childhood joy of observing and gathering insects and tadpoles.
Also I would much rather play a fantasy “animal bloodsport” like Pokemon** ANY** day then some inspid mass-marketed shooter like COD:Black ops which even uses celebrities in a warzone for there commercial youtube.com/watch?v=wj66J0MX4ik :doh2:. .It’s nothing like that. You see, living in Malta, neither Fpx nor Cartoon Network aired thigs like Pokemon, One Piece or even Naruto.The Toonami I knew didn’t even have anime (blashpemy!) I only ever got to see Dragonball Z, Shaman King, Beyblade and Digimon as a kid. Pokemon was only aired a few times and as a kid I saw and loved the movie (as a kid. After seeing the Nostalgia Critic’s review I of course changed my mind not that I actually remembered watching the movie in the first place!), with the occassional episode of Yattaman which was aired on Italian television. But in early 2012, I saw Eva and Death Note and those two anime really got me interested in the medium. With Pokemon you got a adventure show with quasi-sport elements to it,that brought me more delightful memories of excitement and suspense then World cup games.ESPEICALLY during the end of the 1st and 2nd seasons once Ash actually made it to the League in the Kanto and Orange island regions.
Rurouni Kenshin. It has some of the greatest characters ever, is virtually free of fanservice and while it is violent, there is nothing in it that any child above 7 can’t handle as there is no gore, just the effects of how horrible war and fighting is (the OVA’s are pure seinen though). The main character is very great, one of the greatest and most inspiring protagonists ever, the humor is funny and it’s just epic. It’s most most favorite anime of all time, hands down.

Yeah sometimes I think I have no taste because I like a lot of things people consider badly done or cheesy. I personally loved El-Hazard I thought it was a riveting story and I loved the characters! But I do admit I like a lot of things people hate. For Instance Everyone hates The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen, but I thought It was pretty good. I would love to hear if you have any recommendations to people who liked El-Hazard, even if you didn’t like it yourself.
