I watched 10 episodes of Toradora with a friend tonight, and I was reminded of why I love the show so much. It’s so awesome.

Yet to answer your question,my favorite anime in terms of how it’s memorably stuck to me and fills the criteria I emboldened in your quote is FMA (the 2k3 anime). You know how some of us say that an unstable person should sincerely not watch Eva or else it’ll make them worse?.Yeah, the 2k3 FMA sorta did that to me:D;.

*oh trust me the FMA influenced part of it is gone to the point that I safely watch FMA without unhealthy pondering produced even though that fatalism of mine still lives in a different comparitively less strong way I’m still trying to get dissipate.
Regarding fatalism, I was actually rather fatalistic BEFORE I watched anime. I tried becoming more saintly except part of me didn’t think I could or should become one because I was not worthy of Mary’s love. And I thought at that time that the Blessed Virgin was pleased with this sort of behaviour. She wasn’t as I should have realized. Good intentions aren’t always considerate. In fact, if FMA taught me one thing it was to have unbreakable resolve (speaking of which, check out this cool desktop! wallpaperfox.com/download/view?file=MTI4MHg4MDAvMjAxMTA1MTIvNWUwNGNiODBjODdmMTJjMDZmMWZjY2E3NDQ0YzEwYzIuanBn. I should never gives up on something no matter what happens to me and no matter what others should think of me.

Rurouni Kenshin also taught me ltos of lfie lessons, like the aforementioned unbreakable resolve and the will to stay alive. It also taught me that for my life to have any meaning, I should work hard to help and protect the happiness of my loved ones. It taught me another lesson, that I was a patethic bloody loser with a false concept of humility when I drilled into my head the idea that I can’t become a saint. Hiko Seijouro snapped Kenshin out of his scruples by basically telling him that his first concern should not be whether he is a good person or not but to actually do real good just for the sake of it disregarding things like humility. Eva made me depressed. Rurouni Kenshin started my road to recovery from my manic depression and now, I’m hardly feeling depressed at all nor do I have any stupid, idiotic concepts like fatalism, waiting around for God to pull some dumb three days or of darkness instead of working hard so that people may recognize Mary as the Queen of our Hearts and have adopted the motto to kick reason to the curb, unleash my true potential and go beyond the impossible. I mean this with my whole heart.

The FMA matrix ‘theory’ of yours is actually interesting, I;m someone who hasn’t watched the 2003 anime although I plan to after watching Toradora. I need to feed my imagination more. I also can’t stand this watching only 3 episodes a day to finish an anime thing honestly. Sure, I exaggerrated it when watching Brotherhood with something like 20 episodes a day but I think I can spend watching 10 episodes a day instead.

Work hard sidetrack as school should always come first although the occassional inspirational anime or book certainly will not break your concentration:) but it’s up to you to decide. Regarding my plan to watch list, I have a huge list on anime I will see in the future but am not interested in watching now and another list of anime that are on-hold: Bleach, Bakuman, Wolf’s Rain, Durararara, Princess Tutu and Fate/Stay Night. Of them all, Princess Tutu and Wolf’s Rain look the most promising although Bakuman certainly looks very very good.

Hmmm…thanks for telling me about how you kicked that sort of thinking out but frankly I think that my path out will be different :o.I sure wish it was as (from the way you described things) as immediately/directly resolving as watching an anime -_-.

SPOILER ALERT is what every deserves to know before going past this point

On a different note before I go off to school I’ll tell you guys about volume 7 of Narutaru. The first half is a closer look at the bullying of one of Shiina’s friend (Hidoka) who “punish” her every time she does well on a test by putting her thru something degrading like drinking worms. They do this b/c they think that, that Hidoka thinks she “hot shish” b/c of her high marks. It then goes on about how she’s having boy trouble, how she’s trying hard at school so she can get transferred to a well-reputed private one and dad’s disapproval of her friends and skipping school.

That group of bully girls grab Hidoka one day and are about to do a “vile act of inserting something into her” when a boy tells them back off from her but not while one of them teasingly say her “knight in shining armor” has come to save her. When she get’s home and is told by her dad that she can’t hang out with Shiina anymore that’s the snapping point for her and her shadow dragon manifests.

Now just slightly past the half-way mark for the volume I start seeing the horror aspect of this manga.

It ends up killing one of the bully girls off panel with the police saying that the remains look like “beef stew” `~’ .It also crashes into the room of one the bully girls and her brother before they commit an incestous act and kills them both with the girl being killed in such a disturbing way that I skipped over the particular panels.

The next day more police reports on this come in on this and Shiina’s teacher tells the class about this and a student brings up how tthey knew about the bullying issue with that girl. The shadow dragon smashes into the classroom attacking students including having a girl’s lower leg horribly torn off, sending the school into a panic with only the teacher, Shiina and the buy from before trying to save the girl and fend off the dragon. The police comes and the dragon flees while being followed by a news copter talking about the route it’s taking. The two fishy gov agents from before talk about how it’s taking conspicously public routes b/c it’s a kid and they’d only know like bus routes to school.

While the dragon is going to like an airport for some reason Shiina’s races over to Hidoka’s place on Hoshimaru having figured out who’s controlling the dragon. She get’s there and Hidoka talks about how she’s done all this killing and she’s doing this b/c she’s sick of the “survival of the fittest” way *the world works and suggests that Shiina does the same.Since there’s a TV on next to them she can see the dragon’s doing and how it’s taken her dad hostage having broken his arm at least. She attacks her, choking her before Hoshimaru once again takes bended metal bars (I’m starting 2 think that’s a power he’s got) and apparently kills Hidoka leaving me with suspense for volume 8.

*I’m starting to notice that these apparently “deep” monologues a/o thoughts that manga and anime characters go into are ussually pretty one-sided with hardly anyone (if at all) responding to what they are saying and thus they prob.shouldn’t be taken to seriously

I just hope that the manga “Dragon Zakura” can be turned into an anime someday… 🙂

Don’t think it was that easy buddy! I had to pass through a lot since watching anime and it was onyl thorugh deep meditation, strengthening of my will and Mary’s help that I finally threw out all of my rubbish thoughts. ANime only helped me to drop off my yoke.

And I (re)watched 3 more episodes of Toradora with a friend tonight. Now at halfway through the series.

This one gets me emotional and rooting for the characters like few others.

Yeah, I just saw 15 episodes as of now and I’m really loving it. I lvoe how it is a more ‘realistic’ harem. None of the jokes are too over the top, the characters are all charming, especially Minorin (I just love this character she is so fun) and Taiga who is just hilarious and the sitations they are put in actually do happen in real life. It also lacks alot of fanservice though it does have some, and it is far from being perverted. The funniest bit for me was when Ryuugi had that dream of being married to Taiga and having her give birth to dogs and the infamous ‘boing, boing boing’ bit. Honestly, Taiga reminds me of a certain someone I know. She’s short, short tempered and a huge tsundere like this certain someone I know. I even started calling her palmtop tiger just to tease her!

Whatever lifts you up, as long as it’s not outright evil.

I just finished Toradora and, it was really amazing. I really, really loved it. The characters, especially Taiga and Ryuugi were memorable and their romance was just great. In fact, I’d go so far as to put it with Clannad as one of the greatest harem anime of all time (together with Hayate the Combat Butler of course). Maybe it did have a big flaw with the characters misunderstanding each other during the school festival arc but it’s not that big a deal. Overall, I give it a solid 8 out of ten.

It’s unique, it’s funny, heartwarming, realistic and just great, one of the better anime I’ve seen for a while. Now, I plan to watch the original FullMetal Alchemist anime. Anyway, Toradora is a must watch, really.

Toradora’s not a harem, though, IMO. Just a complicated romcom (love rectangle or something).

Regardless, it is one of my all time favorites.

Yeah, I can see why it’s not a harem. It lacks all the girls falling for a single dude or having a single dude helping out a lot of girls plot. It’s more a well written romance than a romantic comedy tohugh because while it can be very, very funny, the characters all seemed so natural. Maybe the only thing wrong and ironchapman, please help me understand this part but SPOILER ALERT I don’t understand why Taiga in the last episode transferred schools without coming to dinner after Ryuugi asked her to marry him.

Despite that, the ending was really sweet and emotional, and I’m glad that the creators relied on putting the characters in everyday situations. Everyone was so realistic and beleivable, even Minorin who despite being a genki girl (a chamring one at that!) still had a believable personality. Also, the two main characters’ fathers are both douchebags. Seriously, they deserve a punch in the face although thinking about it now, Taiga attacking her ‘father’ with a kick to the groin was very satisfying.

In all, I loved it, really, really loved it. Like Hayate it turned out to be a huge surprize. I consider it to be as good as Clannad because both are very well written, both have memorable characters and both can be hysterical at times. I’m even considering putting it in my top ten favorites, replacing Clannad on the no.8 spot.

Have you ever heard of Gantz? I think that is the most depressing and misanthropic anime I have ever seen. I plan on never watching it again.
Actually, I heared that it’s pretty badly written. Don’t watch it if it’s so messed up, seriously. I’m considering dropping Berserk because I alreay know so much about it even though it is really well written.

Watched episode 6 of the new Hayate anime. Animation is as great as ever and I got used to Hayate’s look. Thankfully, there were no Ruka narration bits but instead we had these pantomime like bits which were actually very good and a very welcome change. We also discover some new thigns about Nagi’s father. Also, Yukariko, Nagi’s mother, holding a revolver. That scene was hilarious.

The anime is pretty good actually. The first two episodes were rather dodgy but now, I’m looking forward to it every week. It’s flaws like the overtly long connecting theatre and the opening narration and Tsugumi herserlf who isn’t that interesting a character (which is sad as everyone in Hayate no Gotoku is very interesting) are bothering me a little.

I thought it pretty well written, just really disturbing content. Its interesting that the same country that made My Neighbor Totoro made Gantz or even Beserk. I know a little bit about beserk. Sometimes when you know too much about a show or movie it ruins the experience of watching it. If I ever feel uneasy about watching something, I try to avoid it.

Nowadays I stick to Miyazaki and Ghibli anime 😃

Finally finished Toradora for the second time. So worth it. One of the greatest romcoms and loves stories in all of anime.
