From what I heard this was actually occurring way back in October. AFAIK letters were also sent to Fujimaki himself and his old high school. Someone claiming to be the perpetrator had also posted on 2chan. Personal grudge of some sort seems to be involved.

I watched so much A Certain Magical Index yesterday that I ended up dreaming about watching it.

That was weird.

As for the ending, it is a real one. The studio essentially follows the course of the game from beginning to end.

I’m not really sure that’s the message really (as the last episode can attest). Kirito actually doesn’t care any more for the distinction between real and virtual. The amazing thing is that this is the first time I’ve had it presented in a way I can’t counter or disagree. I actually see the greater in point in what he believes about that.

If anything, the MMO culture just serves as a neat backdrop for this series. Color me sentimental but what I love most about it is the romance. While the guy’s a hopeless chick magnet, I can’t remember the last anime/manga that mixed shounen with romance the way SAO does.

I finished watching a war anime today called Valkyria Chronicles. It is based on a tactical role-playing game for the PS3. War animes aren’t at the top of my favorite genres. Thus, I usually won’t watch animes that center around a war, but I will admit that I was really pleasantly surprised by this. I thought they did a pretty good job in developing the main characters and some of the side characters. The main plot wasn’t anything too special but the way things enfolded more than made up for that. The ending I thought wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, but as a sucker for good endings, I really thought the ending was touching and beautiful. So one shouldn’t leave the series with a bad taste in their mouth. 😃

Lol, I think the only anime dream I’ve had was with a particular One Piece character (I’m not gonna mention who, lol).

I like the sports genre a lot myself. Oh, that’s interesting, I didn’t realize there was an anime that centered around women’s volleyball, lol.

On another note, I just started watching Reborn! since I heard so much about it. 1st ep seems ok so far.
 
Heck there’s a new manga that just started about, get this, a highschool girls’ lacrosse team.

The anime is called “New Attacker You” and I need to get some episodes of it online. I swear, anime on volleyball is not as common as you’d see on basketball or soccer. Then again, I also want to watch an anime about hydrofoil racing. 🙂
Let’s just say that “New Attacker You” reminds me of my high school days when the class had volleyball as one of the many P.E. activities. 🙂

Reading the TV tropes page, I hear the game is actually better than the anime as it’s much deeper. Speaking of video games, I don’t play them at all (with the exception of some tetris on my mobile now and then but that doesn’t count) but I love watching lets plays of well written games simply because of the story. Batman Arkham Asylum, Skyrim and Alan Wake were all very well written. Video games are their own medium; controlling someone to do something opens the door to a ton of storytelling possibilities. Games just shouldn’t be meaningless violence in my opinion, like the Resident evil series or, sigh, Manhunt…

Yeah, I’ve found from experience that not many animes compare to their videogame counterpart, especially if the game is an RPG, strategy, or visual novel. It really is, as you said, a whole other medium. It’s so much easier to get immersed into the storyline, and almost always, the video game will have a much, much deeper storyline. One of my favorite anime series, Tsukihime was like this. There was so much more depth in the visual novel game, but because the anime series was so short (13 eps), they had to leave out so much, but nonetheless, I still thought it was an awesome series.
Games just shouldn’t be meaningless violence in my opinion, like the Resident evil series

There is a story though behind all the zombies and monsters in Resident Evil. perhaps not the greatest, but a story nonetheless to explain why everything is happening the way it is. 🙂

Say guys, what do you think of Fruits Basket? Here’s my opinion: Anime-blasphemy. Manga-very, very good. Personally, I’m really loving the manga. The characters, especially Tohru, Kyo and Yuki are really great, the story is original and well paced and later on, the art gets MUCH better (the editing… slightly). I haven’t finished it yet and honestly, I’m having conflicting feelings whether this manga would become on of my most favorite anime and manga ever. Right now, if I were to state my top ten favorites, they’d be:
  1. Rurouni Kenshin.
  2. Neon Genesis Evangelion.
  3. FMA Brotherhood.
  4. Berserk (manga only).
  5. Hayate no Gotoku.
  6. Monster AND 20th Century Boys.
  7. Baccano.
  8. Clannad.
  9. Haruhi Suzumiya.
  10. Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica.
is it possible that Fruits Basket would replace Clannad on my list? Who knows?

Also, have you guys noticed how pro-life anime usually is? It makes me really happy that quite a lot of Japanese by the look of things support life.
 
I have watched the first six episodes of Baccano, and I have conflicting feelings. On the one hand, the characters are compelling, but they’re violent, and so is the show itself. I keep wondering when is something too violent, and I’m not sure I have an answer. Stuff like this bothers me a lot.
