Who says one organization today is "The True Church"

:confused: Who said I didn’t believe His promise to build His Church upon the faith of Peter, Christ my Lord and Savior and the gates will not in the end prevail? Not I. 🤷

Jesus wants us to understand Him and He sacrificed His life for us in an act of love and mercy. He taught us to love one another and also read Matt 25 as to what Jesus teaches is necessary for righteous judgment. Not that you are committing a mortal sin if you live in the United States and you miss Mass for instance on Wednesday, Dec 8, 2010. Man made rules and regulations used for control is exactly what Jesus was not about. And you know Jesus did not call Martin Luther or another reformer to reform and correct the course in which man was talking His Church so the gates did not end up prevailing exactly how? I won’t even dignify your comment about whether I’ve read a Biblical account with a response.

If so, then you have no basis for your faith, as you dismiss the historical record of the Teachings of the Early Church, which includes those commissioned by the Apostles to go out to all the world and spread the good news.

You can’t even witness to me, because I can’t be sure you are mirroring correctly. Me and my Bible was never taught in the history of Christianity until the past 200 years. People couldn’t read. There were no Bible studies except among scholars.

I have the Bible as my basis and witness. 2Peter 1:20? :confused: I don’t try to explain the prophecies which were written in Scripture. As vs 21 says I believe those prophets who gave prophecies found in Scripture were not doing so on their own. But were giving there prophecies as they received them from God thru His Holy Spirit. 🤷

Thank you for the emptied and recharged, that is exactly the feeling. Like all you old is taken out and you atr filled with Jesus. Praise God

So we get to pick and choose which of God’s rules are “man made” and which ones we happen to like, so they’re the ones from God?
And you know Jesus did not call Martin Luther or another reformer to reform and correct the course in which man was talking His Church so the gates did not end up prevailing exactly how?

:confused: Martin Luther wrote diatribes and rants about teachings of the Church that he didn’t happen to like, and he influenced the government of Germany to establish its own church apart from the Pope. He didn’t “reform” anything - he made himself to be God and founded his own Church.

There were reformers living at that time, though - their names were Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Ignatius of Loyola, Peter Canisius, Thomas More, etc. 🙂

Exactly how did Martin Luther reform the Catholic Church when he and others started their own denominations? (not saying people, including the Pope in the Church weren,t/aren’t sinners).

Yes, it’s called the Church of Me. I only believe what I understand when I read my preferred version of the Bible.

I kind of like that religion - it would be a really easy one to follow! Too bad it doesn’t lead to Heaven, though. 😛

Well, a lot of people are doing just that. But that is not the road to true happiness. Over and over in the OT, the people failed to trust and obey God. They fell into sin and sin leads to slavery. We must obey God. God sent the prophets, the judges, Joshua, etc. to lead the people. Whenever the leader died, the people fell right back into sin.

The OT points to the new. Peter sits in the chair of Moses, as did the Pharisees. There have ALWAYS been leaders in the true Church.

And now Christians are falling into sin again. They want to be their own leaders and they split and split and split until we have hundreds of denominations arguing, Baptism is necessary, no it’s not, it’s a believer’s baptism, it’s not really the flesh and blood of Jesus, he really didn’t mean that. So unbiblical to Jesus desiring us to be ONE. He never said to be united in the “essentials.”

I can’t find the verse now, but in the OT, it says the people without a leader did as they pleased. I think it’s somewhere in Joshua or Judges. Very, very sad.

No of the ones I gave which you accused me of picking and choosing between, the greatest commandment of love is in there as well as the things for righteousness in Matt 25. Some of the other stuff like it’s a mortal sin to miss Mass on Wednesday Dec 8, 2010if you live in the United States, but not if you live in Canada, not so much.
