Who says one organization today is "The True Church"

I said nothing about Luther possibly reforming the Catholic Church. I said His Church. Christ said I will build My Church. Not I will only build the Roman Catholic Church.

Anyway, I’d like to ask you why do you think Catholics who also have Jesus in their heart do not believe in coming up with your own interpretation?

I find this subject very…frusturating. Looking for THE Truth I find myself second guessing everything and turning it into a “what if…” question buffet so to me all of this everyone guided by God bit is CONFUSING to say the very least

Catholics do come up with their own interpretatons, even if it simply to listen to the interpretations someone else came up with. Catholics may interpret Matt 16 in a certain way for instance.

It is a mortal sin to disobey your Bishop - and has been since the time of St. Ignatius of Antioch (died in 107 AD). So, yes, if your Bishop has said that you shall go to Mass on December 8th, then it would be a mortal sin to disobey him by not going.

I am very sure that it is not arbitrary; I think it has something to do with Mary being the Patron Saint of the United States, and December 8th is your national feast day. You would be showing love to your Patron Saint and to your fellow countrymen by attending that Mass. 🙂 I am also sure that if it would seriously harm you in some way to attend, that you would be given a dispensation by your parish priest.

Ours is on March 19th, for St. Joseph, although the Bishops haven’t declared it to be a Holy Day of Obligation. I’m not sure why not.

The only Church that Martin Luther railed against was the “Papist Church.”
If your Papist annoys you with the word (‘alone’ - Rom. 3:28), tell him straightway, Dr. Martin Luther will have it so: Papist and *** are one and the same thing. Whoever will not have my translation, let him give it the go-by: the devil’s thanks to him who censures it without my will and knowledge. Luther will have it so, and he is a doctor above all the doctors in Popedom."[62]

Thats ok being rude seems the norm. I am very happy for you in what you believe and you should remain true to your calling, as I do. We just have a set of different beliefs. Keep on keeping on ans Jesus will be the final judge. God Bless.

Probably working with RCIA gives you a better appreciation of the Real Presence. Do they ever play Scott Hahn’s “The Lamb’s Supper” to explain the Eucharist? It’s available on DVD or CD. It’s a truly awesome commentary on the Passover Lamb prefiguring Jesus and the Eucharist. The Lamb had to be eaten.

So if Ignatius was a mere toddler at the time Jesus was crucified, it wasn’t a mortal sin in the earliest church, the one Jesus founded just before His Crucifixion and which existed in the early Acts of the Apostles right after His Resurrection?

The rest of your post is all the more reason to believe we are united as one, the body of Christ united in belief in Christ our Lord and Savior. Because even the worldwide bishops do not agree on everything.

Except that Jesus gave Peter first and foremost, and then the rest of the apostles (whose position we see in Acts was considered an “office” to be filled rather than a description of a group of specific men), the power to bind and loose in Heaven that which they bind and loose on Earth. This was future-tense, not just present. This means that they have that continued authority by virtue of their office today… Thus if they decree something to be a mortal sin today, though it may not have been yesterday, then it is so. We are guaranteed also by Jesus that the gates of Hell will not prevail against them, so we therefore have confidence that in matters moral and spiritual, they will not lead us astray.

I suppose if you think mortal sin can change and it’s a mortal sin to miss Mass on a certain day in one country but not so much if you’re in another country.
