Who wants the forums to be changed back to the old design and colors?

I agree. We should all protest this infringement upon feline animation.

It’s a pretty cat, but I think that the camera or flash brought the tiger out! 🙂

Hmmm… The kitty above is a jpg image and that type can’t do animation. If your cat image used to blink then I was really oblivious to that fact; wouldn’t be the first time. 😖
 
On the old forum, we could use a gif. She blinked, and she drummed her paw impatiently.

Gotcha… I guess I never noticed. It looks like there is a setting to allow_animated_avatars. If that is not enabled the image optimization code strips out any animations.

Where is all this stuff agan? What’s it called, I forgot. HTM? Hocus Pocus? hmmm…markdown…i’m going with that, I think. And how do you know all this stuff?
 
I would happily go back to the old forums, but I know that won’t happen so kind of a waste of time.
 
That particular setting is in the forum software so I guess you could say it’s in ruby (the language the Discourse software is written in)… though it’s not actually a function of ruby, HTML, Markdown or any other language. 😉

How do I know this stuff? I’m an IT guy and when they anounced that the new forums would be using Discourse I downloaded and installed my own copy to see how it worked and where things could be tweaked. I’m the type that is never satisfied with a “yes” or “no” and want to understand the why.

Do you have the ability to make changes like animating avatars or is that something you need admin privileges to mess with?

And can you rewire discibots internal circuitry to do our will?

You could make a request to the admin though I suppose. (Concerning various tweaks, I mean)

It took a couple of days to get my head around the new forum, at time I prefered the old because it was familiar. My first thoughts was that it was stark in compariston. Now I enjoy this forum it is easier to navigate and the posters make up for that starkness through kindness.
