I have an opinion on this matter but I’d like to hear the Catholic/Non-Catholic take one who was the first Christian?

If you can point to some scripture, it would be helpful (but not necessary).

Probably the women whom he appeared first to following the resurection. They were after all the first to start spreading the message.

The Blessed Mother. Not only was she the first follower of Christ ( christian ) but she was the first Disciple, chosen before she was born to be the Ark of the Covenant.

I’m not sure, but maybe Adam and Eve.

The Lord God said to the serpent,

“Because you have done this,
cursed are you above all livestock
and above all beasts of the field;
on your belly you shall go,
and dust you shall eat
all the days of your life.
I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring;
he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel.”

To the woman he said,

“I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing;
in pain you shall bring forth children.
Your desire shall be for [6] your husband,
and he shall rule over you.”

17 And to Adam he said,

“Because you have listened to the voice of your wife
and have eaten of the tree
of which I commanded you,
‘You shall not eat of it,’
cursed is the ground because of you;
in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;
and you shall eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your face
you shall eat bread,
till you return to the ground,
for out of it you were taken;
for you are dust,
and to dust you shall return.”

The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. - Genesis 3

Christianity began at the moment when Mary said, “Be it done unto me according to thy word.” Mary is the first Christian. 🙂

I believe it is Mary, because she was Immaculate since conception.

Though the Apostles were the first Christian bishops and Stephan was the first Christian martyr.

Someone who believes in and obeys the commandments of Jesus Christ. 🙂
I was looking for an answer from the OP, because he was the one who was wondering. I think only his definition would satisfy; it may vary from yours.

Some sinner who has been redeemned by the blood of Christ. How do you understand how OT Saints were saved and reconciled to God?
By Christ’s death and resurrection, the same as the rest of us.

They remained in the Limbo of the Fathers until Christ came and preached to the souls of the dead, and then they were released into Heaven on the day of Resurrection. (I Peter 3:18-22.)

Mary is the First Christian

the Good News was first proclaimed to her by Gabriel that the Messiah will be born, through her nonetheless

None of the above. Christianity was a Jewish sect until they kicked us out. Therefore, the first Christians had to be alive at the end of the first century when that happened. Otherwise, they were Jewish followers of the Way. Sure, some where, like John, but most of the Apostles/Biblical folks were not.

Now, before you bash me for playing a word-game, if we say “Who was the first follower of Jesus,” it was his mother. The second was John the Baptist

I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. Douay-Rheims Bible
