Deism is the God before the big bang who designed the universe to inexorably lead to the present without His intervention. We are then fated to do what we do without any freedom to do otherwise. Thus Deism led to the Protestant heresy of predestination. The Deist universe is all design and no chance. Contrast Deism with the all chance and no design claims of the evolutionists whose ideas are even more absurd than those of Deist. I’ll take Einstein over Dawkins when I think of an intellectual giant. It seems design, chance, and freedom are all parts of Gods’ creation. Otherwise, how could God be disappointed in how we turn out? The explanation is God allowed freedom so that our choices would matter. Hence, evil entered the world; often through the confused minds of intellectuals who confuse the parts for the whole.
