Not that I’m old enough to vote, but if I were I would go for Ron Paul for the fact that he at least respects human life [pro-lifer]. If you don’t respect the most precious things in our midst I cannot and will not trust you with my hide.

The fact is, what is non-negotiable are issues that will affect people who are in danger of going hungry or who are in danger of losing their homes, or who are in danger of losing their livelihoods.
Where is that in the catechism, the Code of Canon Law, or any Papal Encyclicals?

👍 I tell ya, they youngun’s get Ron Paul.

estesbob, you are not entitled to accuse us of dissent from the Church
Actually it is imperative for us to correct those who come into a Catholic Forum and either misstate catholic teaching or try and justify openly dissenting from it.

Oh, come on, bbarick. You can’t have your cake and eat it too

Have you seen Rich’s list?
Yes, I glanced over it. With the exception of Clint Eastwood, I don’t believe any of them have starred/produced a major film in years.

And Leanne Womack? Most real country music stars don’t want to have anything to do with Hollywood. I don’t see why shed be on the list.

Ummm, Mel Gibson belongs on the “Wackadoo” list. He is a traditional Catholic, but not a social conservative.

As I understand it, only the Church can make an accusation of dissent and heresy. What laymen accuse others of can be dismissed as twaddle.
Nonsense No one accused anyone of heresy Basically Rich , the truth hurts. Doesn’t it?

You are free to point out a mistake made, but you cannot judge someone’s degree of Catholicity. And since a laypersons accusations of dissent have no real merit, you can’t accuse any of us of dissent or heresy. Especially over posts made on a web forum

Of course we can! Jesus even taught us how to do it. 🙂

“By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

If you misstate Church teaching you should expect to be corrected. For instance when you make a statement that a lay person can not point out when someone is dissenting from
Chutch teaching you are wrong and should be corrected. If you say a Catholic can support a pro-abortion canidate when a pro-life alternative is available you are wrong and should be corrected When one states they can ignore this teaching they are openly dissenting from Church teaching and it must be pointed out lest others are misled

Try Adam Sandler, and what does starring in a major film (define it) have to do with their being conservatives? Are they somehow less conservative because they are A or B List actors?
And Leanne Womack? Most real country music stars don’t want to have anything to do with Hollywood. I don’t see why shed be on the list.
She’s not a real country/Western singer?

What credentials does the one doing the “correcting” have to have to be accepted and acknowledged as the final word on Catholic teaching on this Forum? I know that Fr. Serpa is such an authority. Who else?

Only the Church can declare a person to be a heretic; otherwise it means nothing to banter about it.
No one accused anyone of being a heretic What many of have done is point out that several posters openly dissent from Church teaching on abortion. It is important we do so as they ,
If uncorrected, could mislead Catholics as to what the truth is.
