Ron Paul believes that Roe should be overturned and then issue be decided by the states. And he is a Christian and an obstetrician, I think he understands the fundamentals of the pro-life movement.

Reagan was actually 69 when he became president, 77 when he left office. Ron Paul would be 77 when he became president. He may indeed be physically fit for office, but I think age would be a big enough issue to keep him from being taken seriously as a candidate.

Iraq attacked our oil supplier (Kuwait) and threatened another (Saudi Arabia). Same idea as attacking merchant ships that were dealing in US trade in the Med during the Barbary times.

Oh, THAT Gulf War. I was in that one. Ya, that was an appropriate use of force. Got Congressional backing, put the generals in charge of it, and we left when the job was done.

Ron Paul, when asked what his greatest vice was, responded that he exercised too much and liked it.

He went on to admit chocolate chip cookies were another weakness and that just before the impromptu interview he had just eaten a big salad (with a chocolate chip cookie of course).

I think Paul, who is a doctor as well, is very much capable of looking after his own health.

So, his age isn’t that big of an issue to me.

That Gulf War never ended. And Iraq was violating the cease-fire agreement on almost a daily basis. Ron Paul’s foreign-policy is not only isolationist but is terribly, terribly naïve. It is a kind of foreign-policy that can be advocated by somebody who knows they have absolutely no chance of receiving the nomination . I am glad that Ron Paul is in the race as he forces discussion on issues that might otherwise be ignored but there is no way he will ever be nominated.

You just seem to think that age indicates diminished capacity. That’s the vibe I get.

No, I was speaking directly to the political reality that at a point in ones age, age becomes an issue among voters. I think Paul is at that point. Its an observation. But, yes, at some point, I think an advanced age could diminish ones capacity to be an effective president.

I would think that advanced age would bring an aura of wisdom and prudence, versus emotionally charged, rash action

Maybe, but can you deny the political reality that at some point, age does affect the viability of a candidate?

If there health was a concern. I’d rather have a vibrant 77 year old Ron Paul than a younger “constantly in the hospital for heart issues” Dick Cheney…just as a comparison. As far as I know, Ron Paul is in excellent health.

That’s a point. Ron Paul seems younger than his 75 years. I still maintain that he has little or no chance of winning, even though I agree with much of what he says. Maybe Rand Paul will end up being the viable candidate that Ron Paul was never able to be.
