Cardinal Burke is not speaking as the spokesman for the entire Catholic Church. He is giving his personal opinion based on a book by a senior editor of a right-wing magazine. Cdl Burke’s opinion is worthy of respect, but is not to be understood as the final word of the Church. Ponnuru is not at all the spokesman for the Catholic Church.

Can you give us an example of where the Church has explicitly condemned a policy of the GOP?

Something on the lines of this:

Can you give us an exmaple of where the Church has explicitly condemned a policy of the GOP?
 
You are the foremost apologist for the Republican Party on this Forum, and your defense of it is understandable and appropriate for one of its partisans.

You, however, will never hear me dumping on any political party nor urging any poster to vote in any way based on what I say. Good advice for all, I’d think.

In short you can not give us an example of where the Church has explicity condemned a policy of the GOP. I am dumping on the Democrat party because of their explicit rejection of my Church and their support of the slaughter of 1. 2 million children a year. I am amazed that all catholics dont share this virew of them

What we are seeing is the usual misdirection by democrat catholics. They can not defend their Party’s support of this abject evil so they must try and change the subject to ludicrous claims that the people claim the GOP is the party of God or that the GOP supports polcies that are contrary to Church teaching. They would have us believe there is a moral equivalence between supporting sucking 1.2 million children a year into a bottle and throwing them out with the trash and supporting medicare reform.

We havre had 12 people on a Catholic Forumthus far say they would vote for the most pro-abortion President in history. Like I said before it almost drives a faithful Catholic to despair

I am unaware of the GOP’s explicit embrace of the Catholic Church. There are numerous Evangelical conservative GOP voters who also reject the Church.

Both parties have a good share of voters from all the various Christian churches. Which is as it should be. Or would you have a Catholic Party and a Baptist Party, etc.?

I totally agree with you. I’ll stay on the forums as long as I can backing you up as well.

I think if we were to convince one of those twelve it woul make it all worthwhile.
