He holds the view that racial discrimination is wrong, but does not believe the government has any business in trying to forget it. I am not comfortable that when push comes to shove the same political philosophy would lead him to not aggressively push for the elimination of abortion in this country. He is the loss reminds me way too much like a typical Democrat Catholic politician who tells us he personally opposes abortion but does not believe the government should ban it.
All this back forth is really over a dead issue. It’s not 1964 and unless you can prove that Ron Paul has introduced bills or is planning to overturn the Civil Rights Act or propose legislation to install segregation laws then your points are rather moot.
In fact his son Rand has stated (and we can assume, based on the fact you did before, that Ron holds the same views)
**“I believe we should work to end all racism in American society and staunchly defend the inherent rights of every person. I have clearly stated in prior interviews that I abhor racial discrimination and would have worked to end segregation. Even though this matter was settled when I was 2, and no serious people are seeking to revisit it except to score cheap political points, I unequivocally state that I will not support any efforts to repeal the Civil Rights Act of 1964.”
“Let me be clear: I support the Civil Rights Act because I overwhelmingly agree with the intent of the legislation, which was to stop discrimination in the public sphere and halt the abhorrent practice of segregation and Jim Crow laws.”
“As I have said in previous statements, sections of the Civil Rights Act were debated on Constitutional grounds when the legislation was passed. Those issues have been settled by federal courts in the intervening years.”**
As Scott has pointed out Ron Paul has brought bills before Congress to put an end to abortion but it fell on apathetic ears.
He proposed a bill to audit the Fed but, again, nobody cared.
