I certainly would. I think it should be changed.
Yes of course. We should have both NO and TLMBut it should not replace the NO.
I’m glad we agree. Maybe we can start a peacemaking process of healing within the Church. Maybe they will invite you and I to Vatican III as lay observers.Yes of course. We should have both NO and TLM
I certainly would not.I certainly would. I think it should be changed.
Hey, if NO churches should have to have the TLM, fair is fair !!“We should have both NO and TLM”
Even in those parishes now with TLM only?
And there’s the rub. I have never, ever heard anyone in my church or any other Catholic church complain that we should go back to Latin…NEVER, EVER…and the parishes I’ve belonged to are fairly “traditional” by today’s standards. There is not a big demand for it in our area.
oh, no…if my “modern” church has to have a Latin Mass, your TLM church has to have a Mass in the vernacular…“Hey, if NO churches should have to have the TLM, fair is fair !!”
Latin NO, ok.
Nah, I think most traditional Catholics would like my church just fine…as long as they didn’t go to the 9:30 am guitar Mass. Everything else is pretty much the way it was in the late 60’s.“oh, no…if my “modern” church has to have a Latin Mass, your TLM church has to have a Mass in the vernacular…”
I don’t think I want to go your “modern” Church whether I prefer the Mass in vernacular or not. Don’t like the sound of it at all.
The late 60’s?Nah, I think most traditional Catholics would like my church just fine…as long as they didn’t go to the 9:30 am guitar Mass. Everything else is pretty much the way it was in the late 60’s.![]()
Dunno about your church, but at ours, Sister Cornelia kept poundin away at that old pipe organ well after the “English Language Paraphrase” of the Mass…all of which suits me just fine. The late 60’s?
But, isn’t that when we got our English language paraphrase of the what the prayers of the Mass actually say. And isn’t that when in one week every parish switched from Gregorian chant to drums and guitars and hymns set to the tune of the Brady Bunch theme song? (the 1st Sunday of Advent, 1969)
Now, the early 60’s! That would be the way to go.

You would be suprised who comes out of the woodwork for the Extrordinary Form…And there’s the rub. I have never, ever heard anyone in my church or any other Catholic church complain that we should go back to Latin…NEVER, EVER…and the parishes I’ve belonged to are fairly “traditional” by today’s standards.
CAF is the only place I’ve ever encountered people demanding, or rueing the lack of, Mass in Latin.
Hey, I’m not AGAINST Mass in Latin…I’m just not FOR going back to it. I see no need to…but for those who want it and can find it, fine. But forcing each parish to have it would create more problems than it would solve. You would be suprised who comes out of the woodwork for the Extrordinary Form…
I am not going to put down your parish or the parishes you go to, but it could easily be the case that you are just traveling in different circles or attending different parishes than the “no” parishes people who would have a preference for the TLM attend.
At any rate, If it were only people on the CAF traditional forum that had an interest in the Latin Mass, I highly doubt there would be 190+ locations nationwide (in the US alone) that now have weekly Masses in the EF.
It may not be for everyone, but it is a legitimate option.
I once heard a talk given by a monk where he talked about changes in the Mass that occurred in his monetary.Dunno about your church, but at ours, Sister Cornelia kept poundin away at that old pipe organ well after the “English Language Paraphrase” of the Mass…all of which suits me just fine.

I’m a doctor in private practice in a geriatric specialty in a predominantly Catholic region. I’ve treated about 7,000 people over the past decade. The majority of these patients, probably 65 to 70%, are practicing Catholics. The average age is 70.And there’s the rub. I have never, ever heard anyone in my church or any other Catholic church complain that we should go back to Latin…NEVER, EVER…and the parishes I’ve belonged to are fairly “traditional” by today’s standards.
