I hope he accepts their resignations.

Sounds fishy to me -
What - are they all going to g down with the ship - if one is guilty ?

I like it though - open the can of worms !
This is utterly disgraceful.
What kind of men are these Chilean priests ?

The way you solve a problem is to drag it out into the open and shine a spotlight on it.
Then you give aid and assistance to the injured parties.
Then you punish the offenders.
Then you examine your processes and find the weak spots.
Then you repair the weak spots.

I think I didn’t make myself clear enough. I meant we have to fight lies such as “Catholic Church is all about abusing small children” and so on
 
I agree. Light is the best disinfectant.

I wonder how Pope Francis is going to decide about new bishops. The process takes so long usually, and if you can’t trust the officials at those diocese, how are you going to identify and vet candidates?
 
Best way to fight that perception is to make sure it’s as untrue as it possibly can be.
 
“Protecting the Church” is exactly the motivation for the cover-ups.
 
I rather hope the Holy Father doesn’t accept them all. If I understand correctly, letting them resign makes them ineligible for ecclesial prosecution.

The worse the church can really do if they have a church trial is to kick them out.

If they are leaving voluntarily, that makes a trial moot.
