Whom did Adam’s sons marry?

Adam did not exist.
To marry their sisters’ ? horrible…bad start…
Why? Adam was created with perfect DNA, which his offspring would have inherited. There would have been no harmful recessive genes to be doubled in a marriage between siblings, leading to stunted children. That would have come later after generations of genetic drift and mutation, and the incest prohibition would have resulted from that. For example, Abraham married his half-sister and that was okay, but 5-600 years later such a union was prohibited in the Mosaic Law.

The Church teaching on this is found in Humani Generis, You may find this tract from Catholic Answers helpful. Here is an excerpt:
It is equally impermissible to dismiss the story of Adam and Eve and the fall (Gen. 2–3) as a fiction. A question often raised in this context is whether the human race descended from an original pair of two human beings (a teaching known as monogenism) or a pool of early human couples (a teaching known as polygenism).
In this regard, Pope Pius XII stated: “When, however, there is question of another conjectural opinion, namely polygenism, the children of the Church by no means enjoy such liberty. For the faithful cannot embrace that opinion which maintains either that after Adam there existed on this earth true men who did not take their origin through natural generation from him as from the first parents of all, or that Adam represents a certain number of first parents. Now, it is in no way apparent how such an opinion can be reconciled that which the sources of revealed truth and the documents of the teaching authority of the Church proposed with regard to original sin which proceeds from a sin actually committed by an individual Adam in which through generation is passed onto all and is in everyone as his own” (Humani Generis 37).

DNA of Adam was corrupt for he became corrupt.
Come on, Adam never existed.

The Sacred Scriptures say he did. The Church affirms it, most recently in Humani Generis. Look it up.
He did not exist as a person.
He existed as a “midrash”, a deep and strong teaching of God to Humanity.

Wait…you’re saying humanity, as a whole, just magically appeared one day? There was no “first human”?

If there were no “first humans” (Adam & Eve) then we could not and would not exist.

Both Adam and Eve existed. Genetically, their children had a good start. The first siblings marrying siblings would not have had problems because it took a number of generations for certain “hereditary” diseases to develop. By that time, given the birth rate, multiple births from an individual pregnancy, and especially overlapping generations, the populations, including those which migrated, would be large enough that marriage between siblings would not be unnecessary.

Oedipus crisis: he could not kill the father to marry the mother.
Given the birth rate, overlapping generations, Adam and Eve’s family structure, and especially God’s blessing, there is no reason for a parent to marry his or her own child.

Fidelis provided Church documentation for his position. Can you do the same?
Also, can you provide how original sin exists without Adam?

Catholics are BOUND to believe Adam existed.

HUMANI GENERIS

ENCYCLICAL OF POPE PIUS XII CONCERNING SOME FALSE OPINIONS THREATENING TO UNDERMINE THE FOUNDATIONS OF CATHOLIC DOCTRINE AUGUST 12, 1950.

I was baptized Catholic, I went to Catholic grade school, Catholic high school and Catholic college, but I still can’t accept the Adam and Eve story as non-fiction.

If that makes me non-Catholic, then I guess I am.

In my view, this is what happened …

God created life on Earth via evolution. In other words, what anthropologists call “evolution” is the hand of God at work.

At a particular point, when God felt that the homo sapiens line of hominid troupes were ready to “become man,” He ensouled a male and a female whom God, with perfect foreknowledge, knew he, the ensouled man, would want to bond with.

They saw each other. Each recognized that the other was “different” because ensoulment does that. They decided to hitch up, and they became a couple.

They produced offspring together. Under His Own plan God ensouled their offspring. God also ensouled members of the opposite sex from the same troupe with whom He, with perfect foreknowledge, knew these offspring would want to bond with, so that mating with unensouled hominid brutes – beastiality, as bad as incest, certainly – was unnecessary.

I say that this isn’t “polygenism,” because of what I say “Original Sin” is not, and what I say it is – not an incident in time, but rather a proclivity to evil decision making arising from a crazed search for escape from insecurity which all mortal flesh infused with an intellect and free will is tempted to embark on. Because we are all distant cousins of each other, descended from a remote unensouled hominid common ancestor, we all inherit this insecurity.

Though I call myself “Catholic,” I believe that the preceding is true. It is most definitely not what the Church teaches, I know.

There’s a thread in the Catholic News forum titled “‘Adam and Eve? They’re just Mythology’ says Pell” that’s somewhat related to this one, if anyone is interested.
