Who's your confirmation saint?

Hi all! I’m just curious who your confirmation saint is, or whether or not you have one, as I find those sorts of things interesting 😊 I’ve been contemplating conversion to Catholicism for four or five years now, and I still haven’t gone through RCIA; so I obviously don’t have a confirmation name yet.
 
St. Maximilian Kolbe 🙂 Great Polish saint who was martyred at Auschwitz and beatified by JP2
 
St. Bernard of Clairvaux! Doctor of the Church, Abbot, patron Saint of beekeepers… And the Knights Templar. 😛
 
I didn’t pick my confirmation name out of any devotion to a particular saint, sadly (though he is, indeed, a great saint, I’ve come to discover). I picked mine because my mother asked me to select it, so I obliged.

Saint Jude, the patron of lost causes. I guess my mother knew something I didn’t 😆

Saint Spyridon (A.D. 270 - 348) the Thaumaturge, Bishop of Trimythous, Father of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicea. A known miracle worker, mystic, and holy man. Defender of the Orthodox Faith and the Blessed Trinity. A very popular Saint in the Greco-Slavic world. Former VPOTUS Spiro Agnew is named after him (Spiro obviously being a diminutive form of Spyridon). Me, being a former Russian Orthodox Catechumen, and a current biritual Roman/Ukrainian Catholic who consider myself to be Eastern, orthodox, and Catholic, chose the great Spyridon as my Chrismation Saint because I love how powerfully he worked the works of God and how totally divinized he was - he was truly, literally full of the Spirit of Christ - when St. Spyridon spoke, it was Jesus speaking through him.(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

🤣 That’s interesting, I wonder why your mom picked out St. Jude. Is it common for parents to pick the confirmation name for their child?
 
I would not say so… as a lot of the meaning of Confirmation concerns the confirmandi taking the faith as their own, it only makes sense that the confirmandi would choose the name
 
She wanted to name me Jude actually, but my father vetoed that.

No, I don’t think it’s common for parents to select the name. I think at the time I was ambivalent about it, and my mom basically begged me.

I guess she thought I was a lost cause lol

Philomena is a great name and a great little virgin martyr 🙂 I think you are well on your way to the Church the Holy Spirit built.
 
My Confirmation name is Madeline in honor of St. Mary Magdalene who never abandoned Jesus at the foot of the Cross.
 
Saint Mark

I chose as a kid and didn’t know much about the Saints at the time. The local Catholic high school at the time was called Saint Mark, obviously Saint Mark had his Gospel, and I thought it was a cool name.

If I knew then what I know now, I might have selected St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Thomas Becket, St. Thomas More, St. Maximilian Kolbe, etc.

And if I was selecting my name today, I’d most likely choose St. John Paul II.

BTW - with a screen name of @hope_philomena why not choose St. Philomena?

Me as well. My mother encouraged me to select John, as she was thinking of naming me that except that I had an older cousin by that name.
 
Saint John the Baptist, as I was baptized, confirmed and received first Communion at the Easter vigil.
The Church will forever remain incomplete without you. I say, get yourself into RCIA.
