Who's Your Favorite American or Canadian Saint or Blessed?

Not a bad choice. You can hardly go wrong there. I think it was Bishop Sheen who first told me to go and make Holy Hours.

I donā€™t know her that well. We have a church in town named after her.
 
Technically, Ven. Archbishop Sheen isnā€™t a ā€œblessedā€ yet because he has not yet been beatified. Hopefully this is coming soon now that New York and Peoria have stopped fighting over who gets his body (I hope). It would be nice to put his body in a bit of a more accessible place in my opinion - itā€™s under the altar at St. Patrickā€™s in NYC and you canā€™t get down there šŸ˜¦

My favorite American or Canadian ā€œsaint or blessedā€ is Blessed Solanus Casey. Iā€™m not sure who my second favorite would be.
 
St. Seaton was the first native born American to be canonized. And you didnā€™t know that? The shame.šŸ˜ˆ
 
I do love Fr. Solanus. Heā€™s very cool. He played his violin for Jesus in the tabernacle in the middle of the night. He wasnā€™t very good, but Iā€™m sure the Lord didnā€™t mind. Who knows what the brothers thought of that!

Saint Isaac Jogues, a Jesuit who was martyred by the people he sought to bring to faith.
 
Ahhh. That 'splain it. I was very young when I met her, so thatā€™s not surprising. She opened the first orphanage in the U.S., if memory serves.
 
I think she was a convert maybeā€¦Episcopalian , yes, thatā€™s right. Her husband died in Italy and then she was on her own over there. Some of those ornery Italians were very good to her and shared their Catholic Faith with her. (See, I know a bit.) But I like to know personality characteristics, etc.

My favourite Saint of the region is Marguerite dā€™Youville. My favourite Blessed of the region is Ɖmilie Tavernier Gamelin
 
St. Kateri Tekawitha. She was a native American convert from the Mohawk tribe. She took a perpetual vow of virginity and practiced many mortifications. When she died her skin color became fair.

Yes, I like that story, she had very bad pock marks and scarring on her face from small pox as a child. Within 15 minutes after her death, her face became free of all blemishes, eye witnesses report.

My favorites are only Servants of God at the moment, fair warning.

Mary Virginia Merrick, and Dorothy Day,
 
Donā€™t know these Saints. Will have to research them. I think we Americans may tend to under appreciate saints who came from abroad to serve God in the U.S. However, everyone knows Mother Cabrini, I think.

I donā€™t know the Canadian saint hardly.
