If our healcare system was functioning as it should be this story shouldn’t at all be possbile. But storys like this are nearly everywhere all the time. Quite frankly if I was the person having the anurysm in that first story, if I knew all that was going to happen as a result of saving my life, I’d say let me die. Better to die then to live worse than a dog.
You’re full of it. The fact is, our healthcare system IS functioning. We have the best system in the world. To destroy it for the sake of 16-20 million people who are not covered is absolutely unconscienable.

You must also not be a Christian. If you were, you would know that your life is not yours; it is Christ’s. Better to die than live like a dog goes against everything that Jesus taught. But I’m sure that once the ‘system’ gets going, you’ll be on one of those death panels making sure that Americans would “better die” than to live life “worse than a dog.”

Peary, if you disagree with Aspa, so be it, but try and respect his opinion… or at least suffer through it. You are a Christian, too, you know! 😉

I think most people were suspecting that from the very first post.

It’s funny how, whenever asked how the new bill can possibly be just, he/she just keeps turning to a pity story and hoped everyone will be moved.

He/she also hasn’t explained how he/she can oppose abortion and be Catholic, and support a hugely pro-abortion bill and remain Catholic. The abortion part of the bill is what should move him/her to pity.

… and the people and groups that invest in your company would suck their money out faster than you can post your first earnings statement. Their is a reason CEO’s are overpaid, and its sort of like athletes. Because they do serve a function.
Thats a copout. Do you know how ridgid, or how eiffient I’d be? If that is true, then it is proven that we need national healthcare and take it out of the insurance company’s hands. The sole purpose of healthcare is to take care of people’s health, and that it, it’s not to get anyone rich, because its a sin to profit off of someone’s misfortune. It’s too bad that you don’t have any of my former coworkers to talk to about me. I’m ridgid, perfectionest, and known for clashing with others who take advantage of others. I believe in keeping promises to customers unto death. Please don’t compare CEO’s to athletes. There are far more people capable of sitting behind a desk and barking out orders, than there are people who can hit a 98 mph fastball on Waveland AVE in Chicago. Most CEO’s have so many adivisers they don’t know the 1/2 of what truely going on their coompany anyway.

Our healthcare sytem functions for those who fit the correct group. Your saying with emphasis that my life is Christ’s is a very Protestant thing to say, so I question Your Catholiscism. Under American law it is my life Under the new system you will have no more stories like the article I posted to begin the thread. You can believe the 16 million figure if you want, but I think you are bought and paid for if you do. If get on a panel I’ll vote that everyone lives, I’m not into making decsions for others. We already have a death panel system anyway. Shady insurance companies deny people everyday, but stupid me they have a right to because its the private sector, oh dummy me.

Let’s say someone offered you double that to do the same job. Would you take it? I mean, if you’re going to be doing th same job, what’s the logic behind not taking the highest salary you’re offered?
To be honest, I’d take it the first year then after that structure salaries to be more honest after that.

Actually I looked at the part that deals with abortion and it doesn’t directly support abortion or subsidise it. The so called pity stories I bring up, if they don’t matter you I question your beeing Christian. One of those storys, the one about the poster here named Pathia could be considered abortion after the fact. Basically if you get your way, more are going to die from lack of insurance, healcare costs will go up because of the lack of preventative care causing problems to fester and get worse later on, and abortion still will be happeneing. If we get my way 2 of those 3 things will be hapening a lot less.

Its not a copout. You wouldn’t know the first thing of running a mega-billion dollar corporation, perfectionist or not. Without any confidence in your abilities, the mutual funds would suck all your liquid assets up as they sold their shares.

It’s not simply a message of efficiency, and please don’t judge all CEO’s as if they were all pond scum.

If it leaves the window even slightly open, then it is over and you know it. The abortionist will get their public funding so that they can continue to support the Democrat Party.

Now, let me ask you again…

If:
a) The system is at a critical level and this has to be done now?
Then
b) Why don’t the changes go into effect for another 2 years?

That makes no sense.

To be honest, I’d take it the first year then after that structure salaries to be more honest after that.
So you’d lower the pay of your second in command to something you deem fair? What happens when next year somebody offers him and the rest of your management staff a wage closer to the standard?

And you think it’s okay for other CEOs to make multi million dollar wages, but not others? Why?

They hand out the care people sign up for. Don’t sign an agreement you don’t understand and then cry foul.

Theres something called fine print and unwritten rules. To get my orthodics 12 years ago I asked Blue Cross if they covered those and they said yes. When I got them and bill bill came they suddenly said they didn’t and were adamant about it. It took me threatening a call from my lawyer to get them to change their tune. In their coverage booklet there was nothing about orthodica one way or the other. They tried to renig on a promise. That was not an idle threat by the way My family has a friend since the late 1970s who happens to be a lawyer and the lowest prived in Grand Rapids at that.

Pepsi’s CEo is at the cost of a prodcut that not everyone needs. No oe will die or exist maimed if the Pesi CEO makes Millions. The Health insurance CEO denys live sustaining care so he can make millions off of those he denied. Funny how we have Bible thumping in this thread and the defending of the rich in this thread, when in the Gospells it is recorded that Jesus said " it is easier for camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to heaven". Don’t tell me to reference it. If you go to Mass regulerly you hear that in a Gospell at least once every 3 years. Don’t lecture me about priorities.

If it said nothing about it, that would imply they did not cover it. It’s quite possible the man you spoke to was in error, and they figured paying out was less costly than a lawsuit.

But there’s my point- the CEO of Pepsi is essentially qualified to work for an insurance company right?
Let’s say an insurance company wants to hire him- he would expect to make a similar wage, if not a better one. This is true of just about every CEO and administrator- they’re qualified to work in many other fields.

So let’s say all the other companies are paying 20 million+ a year, while health insurance CEOs get lower salaries. Guess what? The good administrators will work at the higher paying companies, and health insurance will get sold short.
