Why Am I for nationa healthcare?

So your solution is what? How do you let everyone get care? You seem to be indicating that some will always die from lack of insurance and that’s better than everyone getting care, but being in a line.
The implication is that people die in those lines. Why is that better than people dying because they lack insurance?
The only solution is to increase the amount of care- you do that with subsidies and other incentives.

… that supports my belief that we need to more heavily incentivize people to become doctors.
It also suggests that the waiting line issue we see in other nations will be far worse here.
Perhaps, either way, it’s yet another reason I’m desperately trying to flee the country to somewhere that doesn’t have these problems. I may die before any reform happens. These talks are just vague politics, money, property rights, social concerns for most. For me, they are my life or death, literally.

If our healcare system was functioning as it should be this story shouldn’t at all be possbile. But storys like this are nearly everywhere all the time. Quite frankly if I was the person having the anurysm in that first story, if I knew all that was going to happen as a result of saving my life, I’d say let me die. Better to die then to live worse than a dog.
The more that government intervenes, the less improvement there is.

And should I come down with cancer again (apart from high genetic predisposition, apparently the chemo, radiation, and scans I received don’t help me out), it may be after ‘reform’ happens. If quality care dies here, I won’t have anywhere to go.

An overly simplistic outlook- we need government intervention when the free market spits out a result we don’t like.

The bills under consideration do not BEGIN implementation of reforms until 2013. I suggest that you leave.

I have massive amounts of personal debt. You cannot emigrate with the debt. I have filed bankruptcies as fast as you legally can, but by the time one is wrapped, i’m already getting buried again. It’s a never ending cycle.

Otherwise Obama would have to deal with the havoc this could create when he’s up for election again…
Like there isn’t havoc going on now? I’d say the article I posted at the beginning of this thread shows threre bad havoc going on right now.

There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people that are unprofitable. More competition and less government means even more people will be forced into my situation. If profits become razor thin due to competition, then it will be even harder to get insurance. You keep saying I am a unique case, the 40+ million number is most likely bunk, but I imagine it’s in the millions. MILLIONS. I am not some unique ignorable case.
I never said you were “ignorable”.

Please show how increased competition would make it harder to get insurance.

Peace,
Dante

OK, folks - I’m retiring from this thread. It’s becoming far too personally invested for some people, and I’m not able or willing to get involved in that discussion because I don’t think I can do it justice.

Good luck to you all, and I will pray for those of you who are ill.

Peace,
Dante

Increased competition means tighter margins. It means the companies will cut wherever they can and those on the fringe are always the first to go. This year Aetna plans to cut 600,000 because that will make them tons of money, by ridding themselves of customers, they make more money. They have no incentive to cover sick people. More competition means they’ll want to get rid of those sick people even faster.

Do you hear yourself?

What makes you think it’ll be different

a) when the government FORCES them to cover more people,

or

b) when huge numbers of people are on the government’s rolls?

What on earth makes you think the government is going to provide better customer service? That they say they will?

Really?

Honestly – with sincere respect, Pathia, I suggest that the time you spend arguing this in thread after thread would be better served in prayer, or perhaps in discussing it in the Catholic Living forum, as someone suggested. I honestly believe that you might find some solace there, whereas here all you get is argument after argument. Please consider that, and trust that I mean the best when I suggest this and am not trying to marginalize you.

This isn’t a matter of the quality of customer service, it’s about whether there’s service AT ALL I’d rather have crummy food than STARVE.

As for the other suggestions, it’s kind, but considering I am in therapy for what the church and members of the church have done to me for over a decade now, it’s not going to happen. Churches give me panic attacks to the point of it looking like I’m having a seizure, but it’s all the religion I know. I guess you could qualify it as a love/hate relationship.

That’s my point – you don’t think they’ll drop people when the government’s in charge? If costs go up like they probably will, they’ll either drop people, ration them to death, or go broke.

I’m already dying. What else do I have to lose? A pain pill to make it ‘go away’ would be a blessing in my state. It’d be better than living in agony until my body rots away. I wake up every morning and I have blood in my mouth, dripping out of my nose. I don’t even know WHY. I can’t afford to find out why. I live in constant pain and I have constant migraines. I don’t know why, I can’t afford to know why.

All this and we get platidues like, oh thats socialism, oh it will bring the health care system down, oh depend on charity. When she goes to a chrity they say oh we don’t take " freaks" here, we dont want someone like that in our restrooms, yada yada yada. Excuses excuses excuses. Since I was never alloed excuses when I was growing , I absolutely don’t allow them from those I deal with. Shame on the USA for allowing this to happen. If one person is not free none of us are free. Pathia is not free. So don’t tell me about “freedom” when you go on your anti governement tirades With the millions of Pathias in our nation the best thing tht could happen is nationalized healthcare. The self rules free market system had lost it’s self restraint along long time ago, therefore self rule is no longer deserved. Shame on American for defending this evil system!!! And some of them still calling themselves Christian! What a joke.

Hmm… I must have explained to you have a dozen times that national healthcare doesn’t increase the total amount of care provided.

The system is the fairest way of distributing the limited amount of healthcare we can provide- however, there are winners and losers in every system.
