Hi, I am Canadian and one of the things about Americans that always gets me going is their hate of Islam. I know many people have strong feelings on the subject because of 9/11 , which is understandable. However, you should not paint others with the same brush. The Islam religion in and of it self is one that promotes peace and equality among humanity. It is the radical groups that make up their own interpretation of what the Koran says , thats whos killing people. I read the post Islam rears its ugly side, and I felt that I needed to say something in defence of the millions of people in America that are oppressed everyday because of their faith. Treating others that way is that really a Christian/Catholic attitude? I think not, and all those that spew hatred about them should truly think of how our ancestors most being immigrants themselves felt when this happened to them .

This is something I truly want the answer to please respond

It has nothing to do with 9/11.
It has to do with the ideology of Islam and the teachings of Islam. (The Koran and hadith).
As an ideology I do hate it. I will always hate it, and I reserve the right to hate it as an ideology. The bible says it is an anti-Christ so that is another reason to hate it. But EVEN if I wasn’t a Christian, and I can say honestly, that before I became a Christian I studied Islam. And I hated it before I was a Christian.
It is an ideology of hate. It is horrible. It advocates killing other humans and harming women and children. I do not feel it is right for men to marry 9 year olds and I NEVER will. I do not think that women’s testimony should be half of a man’s either. I do not like how Muhammad was a murderer. I do not like how many wives he had and a child wife. I simply do not like the man and I never will. Ever.

The thread you are talking about is about a Christian in Iran who is on trial and awaiting execution because he left islam & became a Christian.

**Yes… this is the ugly side of islam. **

If Christianity was just like Islam, meaning, death to apostates, chopping your hands off for stealing, stoning to death for adultery - I would stop being a Christian.

I agree with you on some points but again thats in the middle east. The actions of someone in the middle east gives you no right to disrespect Islamic North Americans. The idology is about peace in the Koran, what you are talking about is some of the laws they follow. That is not in the Koran it was invented by followers in the middle east. Those that hate Islam and are Catholic need to give their head a shake. It wasnt so long ago that we were hated violantly for our Catholic beliefs. We are doing the same thing to these people. Why cant you see that??

I fail to understand you post…

Death to apostates **is **part of islam, ahadith & sunna.

It is their law and they don’t care if they are in the ME, Japan or anywhere on this earth.

Please explain what you mean about “it was invented by followers in the middle east”…

Also… your thread title is:

Why do many North Americans Hate Islam

And then you go on to state…

** no right to disrespect Islamic North Americans.**

americans generally tend to speak from ignorance as this thread has proven thus far. Christ would not “hate” muslims or any who followed Islam. Christ would, instead, LOVE them. You are morally inclined to denounce the teachings of Islam as they are, as others have posted, false. And they are in all technicality an anti-christ as they deny the divinity of Christ. That said, it certainly does not give someone room to hate. For anyone to accept hate in their heart, is to deny Christ. This is why american Catholics are so vastly different from Catholics in Europe, especially Rome. I wouldn’t say they are fallen, but they have been apart from the unity of Rome for far too long. Cultural beliefs are starting to supercede religious ones. Christ says to love all, EVEN our enemies. If you consider Islam itself your enemy, your Lord commands you to love them for God is Love. Deny love and you deny the Lord. It’s quite simple really.

I do not like Islam at all, because of reasons other posters have said. But I have absolutely nothing against Muslim people, and it really does drive me insane how people stereotype Muslims, I know have a couple of Muslim friends and they’re honestly some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. But like I said, I am definitely not a fan of Islam nor it’s teachings of hatred towards Christians, Jews, and Pagans.

I agree this has nothing to do with 9/11. Look at how christians are being persecuted in the Islam dominated countries. It is very clear, this is not a religion of peace at all. It is a group that forces adherence to their “religion” or you face serious persecution. There is no real religious freedom.

To declare Islam a religion of peace is simply irrational. All you have to do is look at the facts. This is why most people are very wary of statements from the Islamic group. Many past statements are simply false.

If what you said is true and that only those in Middle East ascribe to violent teachings how do you explain that every Koran contains the following passage:

The Qur’an says: “Fight and slay the pagans [Christians] wherever ye find them and seize them, confine them, and lie in wait for them in every place of ambush” (Surah 9:5)

Also, from my understanding Islam is an “all or nothing” ideology. By this I mean that its aim to convert everyone to Islam and those that refuse are supposed to be destroyed…“fight a mighty nation, fight them until they embrace Islam.”

Furthermore, Islam is, at its very core, fundamentally opposed to the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church. Consider the following from Mr. Alija Izetbegovic, the President of Bosnia:

" . . . there is an incompatibility between Islam and the non-Islamic systems; there is no peace nor coexistence between the ‘Islamic faith’ and the social and political institutions which are non-Islamic . . . The Islamic renewal cannot begin without the religious revolution, but it cannot go ahead and succeed without the political revolution. Our way does not begin with the conquest of the political power, but with the conquest of the people. . . Thus, we must be, first of all, preachers and then soldiers . . . The Islamic movement must and can take power as soon as it will be naturally and numerically strong enough for not only to destroy the existing power, but also to build the new Islamic power . . ."

Even though I can post numerous reasons to hate Islam (whether in N. America, the middle east, or anywhere else) as a false belief system and ideology I must say that we as Catholic/Christians should recognize that they were also created in the image and likeness of God and pray for their conversion.

I think the “hate” you observe is simply a reflection of the “hate” that is manifested towards Western civilization in general, and Christianity in particular, by Muslims IN GENERAL, albeit that “hate” is manifested most tellingly by “radical” Muslims. I say “radical” in parentheses, because it is difficult to separate the ones perpetuating the cimes against Western Civilization from those who celebrate those acts in the streets of Gaza, Amman, and Cairo.

Were North American (NA) Muslims firmly convinced of their Faith (Catholics are no example, either), we world be in serious trouble in NA, simply because Islam is a religion of complete DOMINANCE…in religious and material matters. I really don’t think you would like living under Sharia law, just as many “freed (NA)” Muslims no longer care for it either. But there will NEVER be an effort to reform Sharia law, because that would be the basis for brokering changes to the actual Koran…and that would be “anathema”.

Now, trying to be even-handed, we may consider that there are “good people” who are Muslim, just as there may be “good people” who are Catholic. But once that distinction is made, there is no comparison between a religion of persuasion (yeah, I’ve heard the tales already) and a religion of subjugation.

And, there seems to be no real manner of accomodation…yes, we can continue to protest that Muslims are “hated”, but then I don’t read much, if ANY, condemnation of terrorist acts or subjugation by Muslim clerics or leaders. Why must Westerners make the accomodations so these folk can flaunt our laws and demand their own laws apply?

Also, it seems patronizing to blame NA (Westerners) for the “hate”, when the worst hate is evidenced in the continued, hate-filled struggle between Sunni and Shia.

Just my 2 cents’ worth.

Christians hate the sin,not the sinner. You are horribly misrepresenting a Christian’s teachings and beliefs. Christians hate murder, they hate mistreatment of women, the intolerance of the Christian faith from Islam, the extermination of the Christian faith in Islamic countries, and the killing of Christian people which is stated in the Koran.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 84, Number 58:
"…Behold: There was a fettered man beside Abu Muisa. Mu’adh asked, “Who is this (man)?” Abu Muisa said, “He was a Jew and became a Muslim and then reverted back to Judaism.” Then Abu Muisa requested Mu’adh to sit down but Mu’adh said, “I will not sit down till he has been killed. This is the judgment of Allah and His Apostle (for such cases) and repeated it thrice. Then Abu Musa ordered that the man be killed, and he was killed…”

Sahih Muslim, Book 016, Number 4152:
“'Abdullah (b. Mas’ud) reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: It is not permissible to take the life of a Muslim who bears testimony (to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and I am the Messenger of Allah, but in one of the three cases: the married adulterer, a life for life, and the deserter of his Din (Islam), abandoning the community.”

Jesus Christ willingly submitted to death.

Muhammad conquered the entirety of the Arabian peninsula and his immediate successors went on to conquer what we now know as the Middle East - their conquest, rape, pillaging, and genocide of Christians supported by the teachings of Muhammad.

Yes, Islam teaches some good things - prayer, giving to the poor. But, consider how the religion began - and consider also the treatment of kafirs (non-believers in Islam) in countries where Muslims have a majority.

The contrast between the two religions is stark. Now, this isn’t an excuse to hate Muslims - Muslims are people too. Most people are just trying to survive and don’t want to go out of their way to disenfranchise, persecute, and harass members of other religions. There are many, many Muslims, living in Muslim majority countries, who go to Mosque every Friday and don’t seek the violent destruction of all non-Muslim systems of belief. However, if we said that there wasn’t a sizable movement within Islam that did seek this, and refused to acknowledge that it retains political power in several Muslim majority countries - then we would be fulling ourselves.

I would much rather be a Muslim living in a Christian country than a Christian living in a Muslim country. Most people would agree.

What The West Needs to Know

Also a great intellectual discussion between Robert Spencer and Peter Kreeft here.

Enjoy.

I don’t see the hate, I see the slaughter in the middle east. How about everyone heads home, chills out, have a good meal, pray, watch the Sun-Set, check on the kids, and go to bed. Stop the killing and there will be no killing. 🤷

If you talking about Washington involved in your country? Write them a letter or stop-killing. We love you, we want you to love others, and youself. Imagine that?

Thinking about this, two things come to mind.
  1. From everything I can discern, Americans treat American Muslims quite well, all things considered over the last decade. I would venture to say that American Muslims have a better life than most Muslims in Islamic countries.
  2. The 800 lb elephant in the room, often ignored in conversations about the realtions between America and Islamic countries is Israel. And the simple fact is America cannot, should not abandon Israel, and that is what the Islamic countries want us to do.
Just my thoughts.

From the Koran:

“Slay the unbelievers wherever you find them.” Koran 2:191

“Make war on the infidels living in your neighborhood.” Koran 9:123

“When opportunity arises, kill the infidels wherever you catch them.” Koran 9:5

“Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable.” Koran 3:85

“The Jews and the Christians are perverts; fight them.” Koran 9:30

“Maim and crucify the infidels if they criticize Islam” Koran 5:33

“The infidels are unclean; do not let them into a mosque.” Koran 9:28

“Punish the unbelievers with garments of fire, hooked iron rods, boiling water; melt their skin and bellies.” Koran 22:19

“Do not hanker for peace with the infidels; behead them when you catch them.” Koran 47:4

“The unbelievers are stupid; urge the Muslims to fight them.” Koran 8:65

“Muslims must not take the infidels as friends.” Koran 3:28

“Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an.” Koran 8:12

“Muslims must muster all weapons to terrorize the infidels.” Koran 8:60

What an offensive way to start a dialogue. The very assertion here that ALL Americans “Hate” Islam is not only an insult but a fallacy. I don’t “hate” Islam. I hate those that spin Islamic beliefs to suit thier own personal and political agendas, often through violence. Please learn a little bit more about Americans before posting stuff like this. There is over 300 million of us.

Most Americans have no where near the understanding of other cultures and religions that those in other countries possess. Many of us know don’t even know much about our neighbors to the north and south let alone the population centers for Islam. As a Canadian I am quite certain you know far more about the USA than Americans know about Canada.

The little we do learn about Islam comes primarily from a tiny number of super-extreme Islam fundamentalists who do not represent Islam as a whole. Due to our ignorance of other cultures and religions we equate their behavior to all of Islam which we happen to know have over a billion adherents and it concerns us. Without further knowledge that concern turns to hatred.
