Dear Protestants,

Nearly all of the Protestant ministers now converting to Catholicism were raised in an anti-Catholic atmosphere.

They were very well educated in their own religious beliefs. So it wasn’t as if they didn’t truly know what their particular church believed.

Protestants, I know what you are thinking, you are saying to yourselves, that many Lay Catholics leave the Catholic Church to become protestants as well. So true, but these Lay Catholics never new their faith were not grounded as were the many Protestant Minister who are now converted to Catholism.

Allen Hunt, was the senior pastor of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church near Atlanta, Georgia, the third largest Methodist congregation in the world. Allen earned his Ph.D. from Yale and also serves as host of the Allen Hunt Show, broadcast on one of Atlanta’s most influential secular talk radio stations. **** He mentions at least two things that brought him to the Church: 1) the deep divisions within Christianity which give a poor witness to the world, and 2) the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. **

1.Tim Staples’s Conversion As an Assembly of God Youth Pastor, Singles’ Ministry Leader and an attendee at the Jimmy Swaggart Bible College, Tim once used his Biblical knowledge to attack the Catholic Church, **sound familiar lol.**causing many Catholics to question their beliefs, until the day he ran into a Catholic who really knew, and was willing to share his faith.
  1. the astonishing conversion of Alex Jones, a dedicated Pentecostal Pastor, who led his congregation into the Catholic Church. Pastor Jones promised his congregation a real New Testament worship service, and after thirty days of reading the Church Fathers, he came face-to-face with the Apostolic Church
3.Marcus Grodi’s Once a Protestant minister to an apologist for the Catholic faith. He is host of the popular “Journey’s Home” program which airs on EWTN.
  1. THE LIST OF NAMES OF WELL EDUCATED PROTESTANT MINISTERS BECOMING CATHOLIC GOES ON AND ON…
Protestants there are so many, many well educated in faith Protestant Minister Converting to the Catholic Church. Don’t have to believe me **google it for yourself! ** FIND THE TRUTH! and perhaps you protestant will convert as well, thats if the Lord gives you the Grace to do so.

(Q.) Why are Protestant Ministers who are well educated in the faith Joining the Catholic Church? (A.) Jesus Christ is calling them home to the Catholic Church.

Again, google it for yourselves.

God Bless YOU on your Journey HOME!

I have heard and read that when they start reading the early chucrh fathers they start to recongize that what they are reading is as Catholic as you can get.

So true.
There is a new web site dedicated to Early Christians and Fathers of the Church:

www.EarlyChristians.org

Very informative. The stories of our Early Fathers deserve to be read and re-read. More fantastic read than Da Vinci Code. I learned so much from this site.👍

This question seems to contain within it couple of different fallacies. For one thing, it presumes that becoming educated in one’s faith is causative of converting to Catholicism. To “prove” this you present 4 names of well educated people who converted to Catholicism. given a standard of prominence of “was a pastor at a Protestant church”…4 names out of tens of thousands of pastors hardly establishes a solid trend. Furthermore, you didn’t present any evidence that Catholics who study their faith deeply never convert to a Protestant faith.

The general premise of “people who are smart eventually come around to our side” has a decidedly condescending corollary of “therefore, if you haven’t converted you’re either ignorant or stupid”. If you’d like to talk about the actual issues at hand that’s one thing, but if you’re going to base your argument on appeal to authority, I’d recommend choosing a higher authority than a carefully selected sample of 4 pastors.
I think it helps that Catolicism allows for reason.
Snide remarks like that are exactly the kind of underlying condescension I was talking about carried by that argument. Thanks for helping me illustrate that. 😉 I’ve never heard of anyone being belittled and insulted into a conversion.

I really feel sorry that you felt condescension or alluded to by the remarks.

However, I’d like us to consider the following:
First, I agree with you that 4 conversions of educated Protestants is not the best argument based on numbers. But let us also consider that the OP did not limit it to 4 because there are many more “out there” that cannot be enumerated. So the jury is still out.
Besides, God does not rely on statistics or actuarials to unfold His plans .
Secondly, let us not argue about ‘authority’ since there is only One. Remember, it all started with one protesting against authority and died regretting it.

If you would like to engage in discussions on truth then let us do so, rather than blowing smoke about how “our side is smarter”. You haven’t hurt me with your comments, but I figured I’d give you a heads up as to how off-putting they are so that you could avoid such errors of rhetoric in the future 🙂

Mirror,

Truth= Jesus! Now with that being said, Jesus Christ bless you on your Journey Home to Truth!

I will happily affirm that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and am grateful for a faith that doesn’t get sidetracked into a thousand other beliefs declared to be essential.

I am grateful for the grace which I have received from the Lord, not a credit to myself but only to the great mercy and love of God, it is a joy to walk with brothers and sisters like yourself in ministry and anticipation of the coming time when we will meet Him face to face.

You forgot Scott Hahn.

Why? Because all other religions are paths to damnation. Catholicism is the only true religion.

Far From Rome, Near to God (the story of 50 converted Roman Catholic Priests)

Mike Gedron:"As a Roman Catholic for over 30 years, I was taught from the Catechism that salvation was by faith plus baptism, the sacraments, good works, law keeping, the sacrifice of the Mass, indulgences, purgatory and penance. According to God’s infallible word, this is another gospel that deceives Catholics with a false hope. Only when Catholics trust the Lord Jesus Christ as their all-sufficient savior will they know they are saved completely and forever!"
Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, there have been well educated Catholic priests who have left the Church. You can also point to Luther as one of them. However, most of them left for reasons other than theology.

We discussed the story of Mr. Bennett (Berean website) several months ago, even contacting his old Jesuit home. It is mentioned in the story that he had suffered a head injury. One of the Jesuits that knew him before and after pointed out that he had gone from kind and gentle to not as kind and gentle. He also charges that he never read the Bible, when he would have read it at every mass and during the Liturgy of the Hours every day.

Some priests who leave the faith follow a path like this one. They become a priest, they meet a woman, they love the woman, they leave the priesthood for the woman but still want to be a cleric, they decide that the Church is wrong, and they leave the Church.

My small Church in Trussville, Alabama, has had two local Baptism ministers come though the RCIA program in the last 10 years, one of which went on to become a priest.

I have read many conversion stories in both directions. To me, it seems like those who become Catholic have nothing bad to say about their time as a Protestant. Those who leave the Catholic faith have nothing good to say about their old home.

I have read this line of reasoning before but in a different context. When I first converted to Christianity I heard a lecture about how educated ministers were finally throwing the old vestiges of a belief in the inerrancy of the Bible, literal resurrection, and a Virgin Birth for a more educated view of Christianity. How could AN EDUCATED Christian think such things…
It is the same line of reasoning but it ignores what the Bible teaches about relying on worldly wisdom and faith…

Heretic!! Modernist!! O ye of little faith!!

And now begins the mud slinging…

I don’t think it’s condescending to say that the ignorant Catholics convert to Protestantism, and the more bookish and learned Protestants convert to Catholicism.

If you think of the logistics for a Catholic going over to Protestantism he is removing large portions of his faith, possibly portions he doesn’t understand, portions he doesn’t agree with etc… It requires very little on his part simply to keep what he likes and remove what he doesn’t. For a Protestant going over to Catholicism he is required to add things to his faith which require research, reading, study etc…

I’ve listened to this guys mp3 downloads and read a bunch of his stories and something seems off, he seems very angry to me. That’s one thing you don’t see from Protestants coming over to Catholicism, they are typically very gracious and grateful for thier original denomination.

He interviewed a woman who may or may not have been a nun and she was truly out there I didn’t believe her at all.

Actually I will help you out. I’m currently a Catholic but after I honestly investigated the church after reading the Early Church Fathers. From my view point they were clearly Orthodox in there way of thinking. Add history to the equation and it becomes pretty clear to me. I also know one other that did the same thing. Also I can give an example of a highly educated Anglican converting to Orthodoxy who eventually became a bishop. Does that prove that Catholics and protestants who educate themselves are becoming Orthodox? No. Also there are quite a few famous priests that converted to a protestant faith and even atheism. .
