As far as I know, the Bible has never been considered a science text book - not in Galileo’s time, and not in ours.It seems to me that his findings would have been affirmed by scripture. Especially seeing how centuries later some quote the bible to harmonize the scientific fact that the earth really is round. Wouldn’t the church want to emphasize the accuracy of the bible during those days?
Everything in the Bible is true, of course, but it doesn’t contain sufficient information on scientific subjects to arrive at any specific conclusions regarding astronomy, or any other subject of science.
I also have no idea why you’re bringing this up. What does it have to do with gays?
