So what would it be said of me if I said I was anti-catholocism but not anti-catholic?

That you are confused. What distinguishes Catholicism from the Catholic in your view? In mine, one is the living embodiment of the theology, doctrines and dogma of the other.

Thank you!

Please see this thread: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=134807… So many times I read ‘I am not anti-protestant just anti-protestantism.’ and had the same thought as you… but sigh, no one got it… But you made my point on this thread very clear. You can’t be anti the belief and not be anti the person in some small way…

By the way - I am not anti-catholocism… I just wanted to make a point since this thread coinsided with the one I linked to… 👍

Then the point is made and succinctly, too. 🙂

one must remember many protestant families owe their material wealth to the plundering of the RCC back during the so called reformation…so in order to rationalize this plunder they have inculcated all sorts of hate nonsense in their families and churchs against the RCC to justify this plunder! Exactly what happened in the us south after the civil war…it was the same ones…the southern establishment.the ones who had the slaves…who thus went to work and brainwashed the whites that it was the blacks who were responsible for the loss and thus their suffering…hence the KKK and no real progress etc. Always its the ruling class who do the chain pulling…while we the masses (drop the M smirked Karl Marx) who do the fighting and dieing on the battlefields of life

Before I converted over to the Catholic Faith I was rabidly anti Catholic because that’s what I learned at church. (Nondenominational). I was introduced to The 2 Babylons and other anti Catholic books and read them and believed every word. Then I was introduced to Jack Chick’s publications and devoured everything I could get my hands on. I was really hooked by those Alberto comics. I made it my life’s mission to try to save every Catholic I could. But I was not kind. I was mean and obnoxious.
God’s joke was on me, however. Eventually an Evangelical group trying to get into the Eastern Orthodox Church crossed my path and I began learning about early Church history and started reading the Fathers of the Church. Through their influence, I found my way home to the Roman Catholic Church. All my early adult Christian experiences were in those small nondenominational churches. I never had any experience with other mainline Protestant groups.

Wait, I think you just got someone to argue your point for you using reverse psychology, which doesn’t necessarily validate your argument.

Looking at this from another way, I think you CAN be anti-Catholicism but not anti-Catholic, in the same way that you can be anti-sin but not anti-sinner.

However, if you say that you can hate the sinner while they are in the support of the practice of sin or while they are in the act of a sin itself, then it kind of complicates things. 🙂

So, maybe you can be anti-(against)-Catholicism and at the same time not be anti-(against)-the-Catholic-human-being-who-just-doesn’t-know-any-better, but then also be anti-(against)-the-Catholic-human-being-who-does-know-better-or-thinks-that-there-isn’t-any-better.

(Most people on here would say that there isn’t “knowing any better than Catholicism”, though, so you probably hate them 😉 ).

And, sorry in advance for the confusion. 🙂

Thanks for the laugh o’ the day. It’s been a while since anybody brought up The Trail of Blood. Trouble is, there are people who actually believe it’s true. Baptists I know run screaming when people mention it because it’s so embarrassing.

Anyway, you summed up the typical a-C rant in the shortest post I have ever seen . I’ll have to save it for future use.

The Spanish Inquisition
Argggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg … Drivel, pure historical revisionistic drivel.

And the contention that Paul went to Spain and Britain.

The people who author this know nothing of historical scholarship and integrity, and their theology mirrors their lack of ethics.

I hate being so judgmental, but one tires of fighting the same battle over and over again against the forces of ignorance. And they have the temerity to say the RCC is the devil’s work? Satan is on the floor of Hades laughing his head off and slapping his thigh. “Oh good boys, Luther, Calvin, Wesley … well done! Bravo! Oh … and here, have a second helping of ignorance. No, really. It’s on me!”

I assume that you mean anti-catholocism refers to the Catholic Church and the other to all Christians?

I would think that to be anti-catholocism is some form at hate mindset.

I honestly think deep down it is jealousy because we are apostolic. Because history is so against them. They know deep down that their church was created by Martin Luther and not Jesus Christ, but out of their arrogance and pride they cannot submit to the Catholic Church. They want a “christianity” that works for them, allows abortion, allows women priests, and allows them to do more of what they want. So they join the church ‘they feel’ is right from them, and then justify it by attacking the Catholic Church in order to make them feel better and justify their own beliefs. But in reality they are only doing harm to thierselves and their own salvation.

One man popping up out of nowhere 1500 years after Christ out of pride and ego to seperate the church and have his own followers. Much like Mohammed wanted. That is the epitamy of protestantism…and its very sad that all of the theological beliefs protestants base their views on is ONE man.

By attacking the Catholic Church, you claim that God did it wrong for 1500 years before Luther came. And thus they make Luther the real Savior and not Jesus. So they contradict themselves unknowingly out of their zeal and hatred for the church… And when they read the ECF, some of which who were friends and diciples of the apostles, which makes it even worse for them because they know Martin Luther did not talk to or even converse with one apostle like St. Igantius, or Clement, or Polycarp did. And thus because of this, the result to the only thing they can do, attack the church…

But i think the most important thing. Is to look at the fruits of protestantism. 30,000 divisions, false prophets like Ellen White and Joseph Smith, the SDAs, the Mormons/Book of Mormon, the denial of the Trinity(oneness groups), creation of the Rapture, dispensationilism, annihilationism, etc, etc… All these heresys have sprouted up from protestantism, the worst being the division since the bible says Christ and his Church are ONE. This here prooves that protestantism is nothing but another heresy like the gnostics or arianism…In fact protestantism is much like Gnosticism(the invisible church)… But it is here that the fruits proove they are false… How the Catholic Church has stayed together in unity for over 2000 years is proof that it is the true church… As they say, Satan is the author of confusion, and what spells out confusion more than 30,000 protestant denominations…

We know from Scripture Paul intended to go to the Iberian peninsula. We know historically he did not. He was imprisoned and then martyred before he could make good on his intention.

You forgot about the conservative protestants out there when you created your model. You know, the ones that don’t allow abortion, don’t allows women as pastors, and actually act more like Care Bears than a lot of Catholics do.

Now, if we can just get you clued in on Apostolic Tradition, Magisterium and the relevance of sacraments. 😃

The Bible tells me

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God" (Romans 10:3).

2nd Corinthians 11:3-4, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the SIMPLICITY that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another GOSPEL which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”
Code:
Romans 4:5 "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth” -Philippians 2:10

2nd Corinthians 11:13-14, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” -John 1:12-13

Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 26:18, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”

Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

1st Corinthians 3:11, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”

“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him:
THE WORD that I have spoken, the same SHALL JUDGE him in the last day.”
–THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, JOHN 12:48

“If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.” (John 8:31)

unto all them that obey him. (Hebrews 5:9)
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. (1 John 2:4)
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? (Luke 6:46)
