Why are so many girls lesbian or bisexual? (Girls today are three times more likely than boys to be non-heterosexual. Why?)

My thoughts,
  1. Experimentation
Sexually inexperienced people, especially teenagers, try a lot of things, and sometimes curiosity can lead to same sex experiences. It did with my gf. Apparently she didn’t find it as gratifying as she would have hoped, but she said she wanted to try it when she was younger so she did.
  1. Sexual gratification
As a man, I know body, my equipment and how I like to be touched. I’m pretty sure most guys like the same basic thing. With women, i’m sure this is true also. A woman pleasuring another woman probably uses some insider knowledge as to what is pleasurable to the female gender.
This is very, very true. In fact, there have been stand-up acts about this very point. When I was acting out homosexually, it was one of the things I’d bring up.
  1. Emotional gratification
From what i’ve been told, women can enjoy the act itself more than the physical aspects of fornication. A woman’s brain chemistry is different than a man’s and this can lead to differences in emotional responses that other women can relate to, and possibly prefer over a man. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_and_emotion (Neurobiological differences are the fun part here).
Most of this commentary is wrt fornication, but it can also apply to every day experiences and how those experiences are shared.

In a sense yes, contraceptives de-sacramentalize sex by removing the life giving aspect. Once you remove that for hetro-sex, then one starts wondering… How is homo-sex any different?
I think how society views the role of sex is most important to our future. Previously, a lack of birth control urged men and women to wait for sex, focus more on true love, use the rhythm method, and wait for safe times, which builds desire and appreciation. This delayed gratification forced couples to pace themselves sexually and not get burned out. When the there is greater emphasis on brain pleasure with less true love and concern over pregnancy, people feel the need to do kinkier and kinkier things in order to not get bored. Thus, the playful attempt mentioned in the OP, as well as the wife swapping that is occurring in your local neighborhood. Birth control has hastened our pursuit of soft living. People basically seek pleasure and try to avoid pain. The softer we get, the lower our pain tolerance for sacrifice becomes, and we get softer still. Less and less people want to parent or get married because of the effort involved. Each couple needs to have 2.1 kids just to keep the population stable (due to some kids dying, not getting married, sterile,etc.). The U.S. is currently at 1.6 kids per couple. It’s the slow death of a once-great civilization. How can anyone say that a dying civilization is making progress?

Larger families produced by less birth control forced parents and kids to learn to be unselfish and sacrifice for each other. True love grows in all those eyes. It provides depth, no matter how incredibly difficult it is at times.

Birth control + early emphasis on sex + govt. funded abortions = more sex purely for brain pleasure and less for respect, true love, and procreation. Kids can be wrestled away from religion via orgasmic sex and drug use. Once they’ve been reduced to shallow simpletons who live by basic desire for pleasure, it’s only a matter of time before many of them get bored and start experimenting. Of course, this has been the agenda all along. It’s working perfectly. Weak, shallow sheeple are easier to control versus those who have learned deep spirituality and true love.
