I am Catholic, and I want to talk to other Catholics.

I am also here to learn humility. It’s going to take a while.

It is hard for me to find a group of people here where I live that share my feelings about the faith, so it helps me alot to be around other Catholics online at least. Plus I just enjoy lurking and reading debates and threads that other people post. It’s most insightful, and I can truly say I have learned ALOT. Plus I just love looking at everyones signatures… I am not sure why, but I am intrigued by what people choose for their signatures, and find it very interesting to go through and read everyones…I guess that’s weird, but whatever.😛

I chose two:

I am considering joining the Catholic Church (don’t get excited–I have been doing so for twelve years); and

I am solid in my Christian faith and want to discuss it with others.

I was tempted to pick “Other” and say: “I like to annoy Catholics.” Which is sort of true–I’m very argumentative by disposition!

I picked the first one, but really, i didn’t just want to chat with other Catholics, i really wanted to learn more about the Faith.

You do not annoy me. You are very knowledgeable in church history, and I have learned much from your posts.🙂

I come here because I was a Catholic for 38 years, and left 10 years ago when I was born again. The more time I spend here, the more I realize that leaving the Catholic Church was the right decision. Too many man-made rules…and not enough of Jesus…

I picked the first one, but I am also hear to learn what other Adventists and ex-Adventists have to say. I have learned much from lurking around the past couple years.

*I am considering joining the Catholic Church

that’s what i voted;)

I understand your point on the man-made rules. I was Baptist for many years, and I have seen many protestant preachers make up their own theology. Some of it was quite a reach. Seems they try to interpret the bible to fit as a prophecy of what was happening in the world. The problem with that is everyone could interpret it differently.

The Catholic church is more rigid. You hear about other churches accepting more and giving in to be more politically correct. The problem with that is we must change to fit the way of Jesus. We don’t ask for the church to change to fit our needs. I know of one church in Florida that basically addresses God as “A Higher Power or Powers”. So you can believe in any god you want.

But I do see your point about more Jesus. I wish mass could be more inspiring sometimes. We have a shortage of people wanting to be priests, so sometimes we have to accept who we get. I would like to see more priests reach out to the congregation. Grab them by the heart strings if they have to. They shouldn’t worry about frightening some away about talking about hell or going on too long. If they have something important to say sometimes it can take 20 or 30 minutes.

I also wish the church would add more jazz to their songs. Something more up beat. I know some Catholic churches already do that. Some songs are inspiring, but I would like something more to the younger generation. I don’t mean hip hop. Just something more jazzy. Seems like they are still catering to the 60’s and above crowd (I am 44).*

I enjoy listening to Catholic radio. Most of my inspiration comes from Catholic radio. The other Christian radio stations are good too. Hopefully the Catholic church will evolve to be more inspiring. It would be hard for it not to.

Take Care,
Oblaidon

You have a wonderful sense of humor! Thanks for the laugh.😃 Does this mean I should tell Father to keep the Holy Oils in the Ambry a while longer? LOL I’ll try not to get excited.😉

I am here because it is a “safe” place to debate with LDS, and discover how having lived among them negatively influenced my Catholicism. Sort of an intentional purification by fire, I guess. 😛
