WHY are you NOT a Catholic?

It is clear within some of your posts that you are seeking justice and perhaps revenge (or something of the sort) to try going against the Roman Catholic Church
Please don’t jump to conclusions or make assumptions about my intentions on this forum. This is the non-Catholic religions forum, so of course there is going to be opposition against RC teaching, maybe even some hostility.

ADD TO THIS that you’re missing out on the opportunity to actually meet Jesus Christ IN PERSON
We Lutherans believe in the real presence, and since all Christians are priests, some chain of apostolic succession is not necessary to effectuate the consecration when the verba are said.

[donaldm] If you care to understand my positions, you might wish to listen here: https://randywhiteministries.org/streaming/understanding-dispensations/

And here: https://randywhiteministries.org/streaming/acts/

That’s fine, but it doesn’t add to the conversation. You made a remarkable claim on a chat forum.
But thanks[donaldm] Sorry my answers do not meet your expectations. But in all honesty the statement was not remarkable. It simply follows that once one immerses themselves into studying the Scriptures as given without extraneous interpretations or allegorical analysis the truth becomes readily apparent.

[donaldm] God Bless.

Yours is an extraneous interpretation, is it not?

No, I let Scripture interpret Scripture, neither adding or subtracting from what is written.

MY friend,

I’m STILL STRUGGLING with the new SPACE Limits being HALF what they used to be so my post very often do not reflect ALL THAT i WOULD NORMALLY SHARE.

The passages I shared in my eariler post were to, GOD Willing, enlighten you to the fact that your post reformation new way to be saved in contradicted by multiple bible teachings such as:

There can only be One True God

Who can have only One True set of faith beliefs

IN and through the ONLY Church Jesus Founded, protects and guides. Please read John 17:17-20, and take note of the fact today’s RCC is the only Church, & only faith that Jesus Christ, our GOD gives Himself as Personal warranty of. for GOD’s Truths on all issues of Faith & or, Morals.

I am always amazed that protestants cannot grasp the logical fact the GOD cannot, as a impossibility, hold unto more than one set of faith beliefs; and that HIS beliefs were made known to humanity LONG before the 16th Century Reformation-revolution and its many innovative faith beliefs.
It is REALLY no more complicated than that.

Christ PROMISED that the gates [plural] of hell would NOT PREVAIL, not they many would not try make the attempt to attack and reinvent NEW FAITH beliefs, different than His Catholic beliefs, found rightly interpreted in His Catholic Bible, by HIS Catholic Church…

Substatory salvation is a denial of the Bible’s multiple teachings of TAKE UP YOUR CROSS AND FOLLOW MY EXAMPLE OF SUFFERING. It attempts to minimize that in all of creation,.ONLY humanity emulates our God with a mind, intellect & freewill permanently attached to our souls, precisely so that we could suffer, could know and choose good over evil, and PROVE our love for Him.

Recent innovative philosophies attempt to redefine God [as imperfect] and Sin [as being able to be forgiven in New easier ways [1Jn 1:16-17 & Jn 20:19-23 which reflect GOD’S WAY] and even to dictate to GOD, just how He MUST save you.

I sa. 43: 7 & 21 teach us that our Lives ARE “the GOD TEST”… that we must time and time again, until our death prove, and give evidence of our Love and humble obedience of All that Christ commanded.

Job.17: 4 “Since thou hast closed their minds to understanding, therefore thou wilt not let them triumph.

2nd. Cor. 4:3-4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God.

Romans 9: 18 “So then he has mercy upon whomever he wills, and he hardens the heart of whomever he wills.”

Eph. 4: 17-18 “Now this I affirm and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds; they are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart;”

Pray very much my friends

Allowing scripture to interpret scripture [whatever that means??] is the fertilizer to the multiplicity and ever growing numbers of new churches and personalized faith beliefs
which ignore that TRUTH can be noting else but singular per defined issue,

My friend have you ever been exposed to the One Infallible Rule for right understanding of the Bible?

Never Ever; can, may or DOES
One verse, passage or teaching have the power or authority to
Invalidate, make void or override another Verse, passage or teaching:

Were this even the slightest possibility; [it’s NOT!] it would render the entire Bible useless to teach or learn Christ Faith”

2Peter 1: 19-21
And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: [20] Understanding this first, that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation. [21] For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.

[Douay explanation]
[20] No prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation: This shews plainly that the scriptures are not to be expounded by any one’s private judgment or private spirit, because every part of the holy scriptures were written by men inspired by the Holy Ghost, and declared as such by the Church; therefore they are not to be interpreted but by the Spirit of God, which he hath left, and promised to remain with his Church to guide her in all truth to the end of the world. Some may tell us, that many of our divines interpret the scriptures: they may do so, but they do it always with a submission to the judgment of the Church, and not otherwise. End Quot
es

“Whenever something is good it does not depend on us getting our way, but on God getting His way, and whether we do God’s Will depends on us [humbly] loving God. Moreover to love God we must [actually] know God, [not just know OF God].” Bread of Life booklet January 9, 2016”[Mt 7:21]

And THAT clarity explains the multiplicity of the ever increasing numbers of NEW Christian [I’m right & you’re wrong] sets of faith beliefs; which we are told are some “all equal” which is an impossibility.

And does it also being a Catholic Book, prove the Faith of the RCC?

Sometimes my friend, GOD"S Truths can be painful.

God Bless you,
Patrick

I will refrain from belaboring the point, but no, I let Scripture interpret Scripture.

My friend here’s a thought

BENEDICT XVI
Benedict says: “If we omit the truth, what do we do anything for?”
“Their cannot be your truth and my truth or there would be no truth”

FATHER HARDON, one f the most esteemed theologians of the 20th Century} taught this about TRUTH:

“Truth is the condition of grace, it is the source of grace, it is the channel of grace, it is the divinely ordained requirement of grace.” …. If my friend you’re able to grasp this reality; you might be able to save your soul.

Ps.145 Verses 17 to 18 “
The LORD is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings. The LORD is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth.

Dictionary Definition of “Truth”
1.The true or actual state of a matter:
conformity with fact or reality; verity: the truth of a statement
2. a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like mathematical truths.
3. the state or character of being true.
4. actuality or actual existence.
5. an obvious or accepted fact; truism; platitude.
6. honesty; integrity; truthfulness.
7. (often initial capital letter) ideal or fundamental reality apart from and
transcending perceived experience:
8. agreement with a standard or original.
9… accuracy, as of position or adjustment.
10. Archaic. Fidelity or constancy. End quotes

In Georges Bernanos’ Diary of a Country Priest, the elderly Curé de Torcy gives his young priest friend a bit of advice about proclaiming the Gospel: “The Word of God is a red-hot iron,” he says. “Truth is meant to save you first, and the comfort comes later.”

John.8 Verses 43 to 47: “Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s

May our GOD guide back to His path,
Patrick

I will refrain from belaboring the point, but no, I let Scripture interpret Scripture.
All scripture interpretating scripture means is that scripture will not contradict itself. When one is seeking clarity, one looks to other verses.
But none of this should exclude the writings and words of the fathers of the Church. They have done the hard work. And no one should depend on his/her own reading. As Martin Chemnitz said,
This is also certain, that no one should rely on his own wisdom in the interpretation of the Scripture, not even in the clear passages… We also gratefully and reverently use the labors of the fathers who by their commentaries have profitably clarified many passages of the Scripture. And we confess that we are greatly confirmed by the testimonies of the ancient church in the true and sound understanding of the Scripture. Nor do we approve of it if someone invents for himself a meaning which conflicts with all antiquity, and for which there are clearly no testimonies of the church.

Allowing scripture to interpret scripture [whatever that means??] is the fertilizer to the multiplicity and ever growing numbers of new churches and personalized faith beliefs

which ignore that TRUTH can be noting else but singular per defined issue,
It means that one doesn’t look to one verse to set a doctrine. It combats the proof texting one sees.
I recall an old joke about a man who lived each day by a verse he chose at random (closed eyes, open the Bible, point to a verse, open eyes). One day he chose, "and Judah’s went out and hanged himself.
Thinking he wasn’t concentrating, he picked a second: "go thou and do likewise ".

Sola scriptura is not reading the text and then allowing the Spirit to tell you the meaning. Rely on those more learned, those historical fathers of the Church to guide you. It is the job of the Church, as we read in the Great Commission

Thank you for opening this DIALOG, which space limits will permit us to fully do

I recall Jesus teaching:" I AM THE VINE, YOU ARE THE BRANCHES; WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING"

I don’t know your faith affiliation so I am limited in my reply.

For Protestants to accept Sola Scriptura is simply wasted labor. It is humanity verses Divinity. Man unguided by the HS trying to re-redefine, re-explain or re-interpret what GOD has Ordained and Blessed, for 1,500+ years before the reformation as HIS TRUTHS.

It is the very issue of TRUTH that is being tried here, and it’s a foolish prideful attempt to usurp Catholic and therefore GOD"S already defined teachings.

It has resulted in a ever-growing multiplicity of faith=sets and churches as ALL churches are defined and identified by their chosen set of faith beliefs.

That this simple fact of TRUTH factually having to be singular per defined issie is astoundly clear evidence that these churches are NOT guided by the Holy spirit, but are being driven by human pride and ignorance.

And YES Jon, it is the task of Christ One True Church: Mt 10:1-8,. Mt 16:15-18, John 17:17-20, Mt 28:18-20, Eph 2:18-22 & Eph 4: 1-7 [the short list]

Very much humility and prayer is needed,
God Bless you my friend,
Patrick.

.

So my friend what we have here is prideful and protestant - like-self-determination which overlooks the fact that the practice of all religions is termed for good cause “Faith”

If everything GOD intended for us to know and believe it would require a library, bot just one Catholic book called the Bible. John 20: 28-31 & John 21: 24-25

Heb.11: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”

Life IS "The God TEST"

Because all humanity is gifted with a mind, intellect and freewill; man has to determine for themselves where they choose to spend eternity… I have been in iofferent ways teaching our faith for about 30 years. What I have learned in the absolute need for humility. YOU CAN LEAD A HORSE TO WATER BUT NOT MAKE THEM DRINK IT…which BTW as a now very old farm-boy, I have actually seen up close and personal.

This MEISM is fed by pride that assumes to know more or to know better than GOD, than God’s Truths, than God’s GUIDED RCC, and its cure has to start in turning back to God in humility and seeking HIS help. None of us is truly in the conversion business except our God; we are but HIS instruments of the Holy Spirit.

So VERY much prayer and personal example are the best tools available to you both.

This MEISM It is in a sense a illness, and as such is curable. But this is an illness that is ONLY curable between God and the doubters, and requires necessary humility; which has to like the cure, be sought.

I’ll add you both to my daily pray for list

May God Bless and guide you both,
Patrick

YEP, me too. I wonder just WHY that is?

Glad your here Jon,

Blessings,
Patrick

Jon - I did not state or ‘imply’ that the NT was an ‘afterthought’ of the Apostles - they were however living it - it was the compilation of approved books that happened later.

As for Martin Luther’s mental and emotional issues, well there is an online account by an Andrew Jasko {a Ph D in History and a bit of a ‘Protestant’ by inclination I believe].

‘A Case For Mental Illness in Martin Luther And Preliminary Observations About Its Positive {???] Role In The Development of His {not Jesus’/God’s theology? - interesting] Theology.’
-Some out-takes - Martin Luther has long been recognised as having acute mental and spiritual struggles. As a man plagued from within and without, Martin Luther suffered from depression, anxiety and obsession throughout his entire life. Luther took the insights of his experiences and forged a new theology that would transform the face of the Church {hmmn, we could have a whole thread on that last assertion]. These powerful insights were tied to his illness in no insubstantial way.
-Luther scholar Heiko Oberman writes, "It would certainly not be wrong the emotional state he was in (in 1527) to be described as an illness. According to psychiatrist Paul Reiter in his pioneering 1937 two-volume ‘pathology of Luther’, at different times in his life Luther displayed symptoms of anxiety, bipolar and psychotic disorders. According to modern psychiatrist Ian Orborn, Luther had obsessive-compulsive disorder. Psychoanalyst Erik Erickson prefers to view Luther’s distress psychoanalytically.’

Whether or not Luther’s mental state was also influenced by demonic forces is something else to ponder upon, since a ‘chaotic and distressed mind’ is less likely to be bound by traditional constraints/restraints/considerations of ‘rational and logical’ thinking. It seems rather unlikely that God would have such a ‘tormented’ person ‘oversee’ a remodelling or overturning of the Church that He had first authorised - let alone, as a result open the flood-gates to so many ‘variants’ of that church - some 40,000 different types and growing in number it is claimed.
Which variant of ‘Protestantism’ is your personal choice - and why to you deem that one as being ‘better’ or ‘more correct’ or ‘authorative’ than the others?
